John Adams also is one of the main characters in 1776, a play that portrays the story of what occurred at the Second Continental Congress, including the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence. Like many other forms of art, this play depicts this part of history in a way that tells a compelling story. While the play is mostly fact based, there are a few inaccuracies. It is very interesting to analyze how the John Adams portrayed in 1776 contrasts with the actual John Adams.

John Adams, born on October 30, 1735, in Braintree, Massachusetts, was the first vice-president and the second president of the United States. He was also a very influential person in America. Although he wasn’t really the most famous president, he contributed to many aspects throughout his presidency and political career. Most of his contribution includes his writings, speeches and essays, his part in the office, and his role in the signing of important documents. Due to his high knowledge of the law, he was able to write responses and essays that were very influential to governments.

John Adams, he was the first vice president and the second president of the United States. He married a beautiful woman named Abigail and had six children together. Just before his presidency, Adams was one of George Washington's successors on his second term (Edwin 52). He was part of the congress that assigned the Committee on Spies (Howard 5). He would go on trips and take a diary with him to write about all the people he saw, places he visited, and all the events he joined (Kathleen 17).

The Enlightenment era involved people looking at life and how the world worked more scientifically instead of by following the Bible and religion so closely. People started to stray away from the idea of such strict religious control in areas such as education.
