Based on your research, determine who you believe the killer to be and why. Give at least five reasons/factors (physical evidence) to support your conclusion. Based on my research, I have concluded that Burke, John, and Patsy Ramsey played a part in JonBenet’s murder. Burke Ramsey, JonBenet’s brother who was inside the residence after returning home with his parents from Christmas dinner with friends, may have accidentally knocked his sister JonBenet Ramsey unconscious over the head with a flashlight during a feud over a bowl of pineapples. (Augenstein, 2016) Burke was not asleep upon returning home as John and Patsy reported to the Boulder’s Detectives. The Boulder’s Detectives noticed in the kitchen during their investigation a flashlight …show more content…
Patsy wrote the ransom note, while John carried JonBenet’s body to the wine cellar located in the basement. John in an effort tried to stage the murder as if an intruder broke into the basement window, by breaking out a window in the cellar. John removed Burke from the home to a neighbor's house. When John returned home, Patsy was still struggling to write the ransom note, so he advised her what to write. The Boulder Detectives asked John why he removed Burke from home. I think John removed Burke from the home to keep the Boulder’s Detectives from questioning the child. John knows the layout of the residence; he was aware that if the police were to search the house, they would not find JonBenet’s body in the basement. During the Boulder’s Detectives investigation, they did not see any footprints in the snow near the broken basement window. Everyone knows that it snows in Colorado in December. In an investigation, by an expert document examiner who studies, handwriting and typing on questioned documents to ascertain authenticity source. (Saferstein, 2015) However, exempts John’s hand writing, but Patsy's handwriting, on the contrary, could have possibly been a match for the individual who wrote the ransom note. Annotated Bibliography Bane, Vickie. “20-Year Murder Mystery Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey?” (Cover Story).” People, vol. 86, no. 8, Aug. 2016, pp. 42–47.
The police investigating the crime said that the way the body was placed seemed like a cover-up for the crime, but could have also been moved by the father who found and picked her up, and that the ransom note was staged by Patsy Ramsey. In 2002 the DA reinvestigated the case, this time they looked at people that were not related to JonBenet as suspects. In 2008 the DA sent out an apology letter to the ramseys declaring that the family was completely cleared from the crime, and in February 2009 the Boulder Police reopened the investigation. There are two main theories about who killed JonBenet Ramsey one of the two is the Intruder Theory, Smits Theory was a theory that someone had broken into the ramseys
Blog Post 3 Today I read and watched “JonBenet Ramsey's Brother Breaks Silence 20 Years After Her Murder.” By ENJOLI FRANCIS.This article was mainly focused on JonBenet's older brother as the main suspect in the case. The article included an interview with Burke Ramsey, which was his first time speaking publicly about JonBenet’s death. The interview was recorded in 2016, 20 years after the murder of JonBenet.
A ransom note is simply not three pages long, notes are not often practiced either. It is highly probable that Patsy wrote the ransom note. In December of 1999, a grand jury voted to indict both Ramsey parents for the crime but the district attorney, Alex Hunter, declined to sign the indictment, citing thin evidence, and instead said no further court action would be taken (JonBenet
Jonbenet Ramsey was a six year old beauty pageant icon who was unexpectedly kidnapped and then found murdered in the basement of her own residence. Her mother Patsy made the 911 call to the police. During the call, she screams “Help me, Jesus” not once but twice. Which seems incredibly suspicious while she is screaming there a two other voices in the background. After further investigation during the phone call, it was her husband John and their son Burke in the background.
Patsy Ramsey, JonBenets mother, had been suspected to have written the note from the distinct knowledge the note held about the family, and the way the handwriting compared to Patsy’s which showed she could've written the note. With this information, it leads us to the fact that on the ransom note it stated the death of JonBenet: “The two gentlemen watching over your daughter do not particularly like you so advise you not to provoke them. Speaking to anyone about your situation, such as Police, F.B.I., etc., will result in your daughter being beheaded. If we catch you talking to a stray dog, she dies. If you alert bank authorities, she dies.
Something that is not used as evidence is that JonBenet had gone to the doctor over 30 times because of a yeast infection and vaginal problems. A 5-year old child had vaginal problems. That’s not normal unless there is someone sexually abusing her. There are many theories saying that maybe John had been sexually abusing her for a while and one day it went further than he would have liked. He accidentally killed her, since Patsy loved him very much, they helped each other out.
JonBenet Ramsey December 26th, 1996 in Boulder Colorado six years old beauty queen, JonBenet was murdered in her own home. The Ramsey family had went out for dinner at a friends house the night of Christmas. Once they arrived home, JonBenet was sent straight to bed. That was the last time Patsy and Jhon saw her alive. The next morning Patsy found a ransom note.
When I looked at the handwriting of the ransom note and the handwriting of Patsy, there are some similarities, within the letters. Any individual can make their handwriting look sloppy, but there will always be similarities. I believe Patsy could have been irritated by something that JonBent could have possibly done, which caused Patsy to hit JonBent with a forceful object that could have caused serious brain damage. Instead of taking JonBent to the hospital she decide to stage a crime sense of a kidnap and murder instead. If Patsy did murder her daughter she got away with the
The girls body however was found in the basement later that afternoon. JonBenet’s skull had been fractured, she had been sexually assaulted, she was strangled with a garrote made from one of patsy’s paintbrushes. The police suspected that the ransom note had been written by Patsy and the ransom note and the appearance of the child’s body had been staged by her parents in order to cover up the crime. Apparently JonBenet's official cause of death was asphyxia a by strangulation. Her death was classified as
After JonBenet’s body was collected, the investigators gathered the evidence. What they found made it seem JonBenet’s family were suspects. According to a documentary, the ransom note was written on paper that belonged to the Ramsey’s; the duct tape that was used to bind her was consisted with fibers they found on Patsy’s clothing. Patsy was being accused of writing the note herself. Handwriting experts stated that the note was in the tone of
Over the next four years, officers with the Boulder Police Department worked diligently investigating the murder case, but were unable to come forward with definitive evidence on a particular suspect. There was evidence of fibers found on the duct tape used to bind the child which were consistent with fibers found on Patsy Ramsey’s clothing. Also the ransom note was written on the same paper which was owned by the Ramsey family. This caused the Ramsey family to be the prime suspects of the murder of Jonbenet, and it crucified their reputation in the eyes of the public (Biography.com, 2016).
John Ramsey was finally discharged by DNA evidence in 2003, but when the case reopened in 2010, Ramsey was once again questioned as well as the rest of the remaining family. Patsy was also a suspect. One theory that people believe is that Patsy was a “stage mother”. she was very angry at JonBenet because she said she no longer wanted to compete in pageants and her mother struck her in rage. Like her husband, Patsy Ramsey was indicted for first degree murder in 1999 but was also discharged by DNA evidence in 2003.
JonBenet Ramsey Case On the morning of December 29th, 1996, Patsy Ramsey got dressed and went downstairs to start getting prepared for the day. What she was not prepared for was the ransom note that was left for her at the bottom of the stairs. Jonbenet Ramsey, Patsy’s six year old daughter, had been kidnapped. The note said that if Patsy and the rest of her family did not listen and do what was on the note then Jonbenet would be killed.
The ransom note was a good piece of evidence because the note demanded $118,000 and John’s bonus was $118,000. According to John and Mark Douglas, the note was kind of long and the person who wrote the note had to write it before the murder happened since the note was so bizarre. The note was written in the Ramsey’s home inside one of their notepads. The marker that was used to write the note, was the same marker that was found in the home not far from the notepad that had pages missing. The handwriting on the note matched Patsy’s handwriting.
