Thomas Jefferson, the author of the declaration of independence, was heavily influenced by Locke’s beliefs. Jefferson believed that all men were created equal, which is a liberal view. The Constitution was also a liberal document that was important in this revolution. The first ten amendments of the Constitution, also known as the Bill of Rights, granted natural born rights, an idea that the liberal thinkers developed and believed in. Liberalism as it pertains to the 1700s means to believe in freedom and equal rights.

Whose choice is it? Organizations such as “Planned Parenthood” are telling people that abortions are completely fine for pregnant women to get. There are many “Pro-Life” groups opposed to this program. Abortion is not morally correct because it is unfair to children that do not have a choice, a fetus is still human, and killing humans is murder, and couples can prevent pregnancy with birth control or abstinence. As a woman, I believe that my rights should not be determined by some man in Washington DC. Instead, everyone should be entitled to their own opinion. Many people question the morality of abortion and several religious aspects come into play about the legalization of abortion. However, the separation of church and state makes any religious aspect invalid when it comes to legalizing anything. Furthermore, Democrats feel that abortion can be justified in cases such as rape or when a woman’s health is endangered and even teen pregnancy, so women should have the right to an abortion. Though deciding to get an abortion can be a very difficult decision, Democrats have agreed that this decision should be between a woman and her doctor without government interference, specifically Republican men who will never be faced with this decision and have no medical experience. This is why Democrats call it “women’s right to choose” and not “Republican’s right to deny” when it comes to abortion since it is about women specifically.

While, I do agree with half of this I believe women have the right to choose whether or not they want or need an abortion.

The main idea is that the civil society should be governing itself. In other words, there is a fundamental belief in individual freedom. Classical liberalism holds the view that the people have natural rights and these rights are separate from government. This view is opposite towards the general opinion where the government grants rights. It is a time of scientific revolutions and the time when the power of Catholic Church had no longer the same type of power as before.
