Most Dangerous Game Similes

Imagine a dystopian future where brainwashed people are made to believe in a biological standard of beauty. Imagine another world where the events of World War One have been altered to include fabricated beasts and steampunk-like machines. Scott Westerfeld has created these worlds with his distinct style. His style is clearly evident in Uglies and Leviathan.. Westerfeld’s style is made up mainly of simile, imagery, and characterization through a character’s thoughts.

There are daily occurrences that happen where people feel like either they are being taken advantage of or taking advantage of someone else. In the story "The Most Dangerous Game" its a suspenseful story that is written by Richard Connell. There is a character in the story who is the main character named Rainsford. The life they life is a challenge everyday, to fight and survive. In this story "Rainsford" says this quote, You either be a hunter or be hunted.

Have you ever wondered how a tiny accident that seems absolutely unimportant can completely change your life ? Rainsford in Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" and Eckels in Ray Bradbury's " Sound of Thunder" both made tiny mistakes which then completely cange their lives.(thesis) Main characters of two stories are : famous writer and hunter - Rainsford, and rich experimenter - Eckels, and they are both in constant search of new adventures and experiences, in this searches of unforgettable feelings and unusual hunting they forget about danger and caution.(sentence ?) Because of their overconfidence and thirst for something new , little unremarkable thing that happens to both of them, that results to huge changes. Both Rainsford and Eckels have something common, they are both trophy hunters and adventure seekers, they have both looked Death in the eye, but they are absolutely different.

The hunters and Huntees Do you agree with the saying that there are “two classes of people in the world the hunters or the huntees” (18)? The story “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, is about how different people have different perspectives. General Zaroff thinks “God makes some men poets. Some he makes kings, some beggars. Me he made a hunter” (22).

Throughout person’s life, they do a lot of things they end up regretting. People’s mistakes can sometimes end up with death. Another reason people regret their actions is because they are rash and not well thought out. People live for a very long time and they often regret much of their lives.

For instance, all the characters from each text experience internal and external conflict. In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford experiences internal conflict after he has made his way from being stranded to being land. He soon meets a General and he is unsure of the Generals characters because of the General keeps staring at him. The external conflict Rainsford experiences is that he gets stranded in the sea, can’t reach the surface, and cries for help but no one can hear him and he also experiences uncomfortably with the General because the General keeps staring at him as if he is analyzing

In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” the main character Rainsford had gotten stranded on a dangerous island where Zaroff, a Russian Cossack General, hunted humans for sport. He feels that God put the weak on earth to give the strong pleasure, and up until it was his turn to be hunted, so did Rainsford. Earlier in the story Rainsford had stated, “The world is made up of two classes-- the hunters and the huntees.” And as harsh as it may sound, it is technically correct. The world is made of hunters and huntees, predator and prey.

The imagery that Connell creates in The Most Dangerous Game captivates the audience into a tale that makes one’s heart stop even for a split second. The feelings of suspense are nearly tangible to the reader when the silence of the writing surrounds them. Additionally, the two contradicting moods are easily flowed through together and yet discreetly set apart due to Connell’s use of imagery in various scenes. What is external conflict? External conflict is a struggle outside of a character. A commonly used example of external conflict is exhibited in the story of Cinderella. She was stuck in the household of her evil stepmother, and was not allowed to leave her home. Cinderella wanted to attend a ball; however, her stepmother would not let her go.

¨These bugs are everywhere I told you not to leave the food out all night!¨ said Rainsford angrily to his cat that did understand him, nor had human qualities, but he didn't like to blame himself for things. He loved animals and understood they had feelings just like humans did after his encounter 9 years ago with Zaroff. It's been 9 years worthwhile years, he has not hunted once, he's vegetarian and is living a healthy life with his 2 cats and 2 dogs. Next week would make it 10 years since he had to kill off Zaroff and his dogs, why not make it a trip there for old times sakes, Rainsford thought to himself. The next day he got on a boat with him all his animals and a driver, and set sail for the ride back to Ship Trap Island.

Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted. During the story, their positions change to the complete opposite.

“Splendid, one of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford. Prepare for another, even more dangerous game with even consequences,” Zaroff remarked. “Well I would not fancy that, but I can listen to your request, General Zaroff,” and Rainsford tensed up after what is seen protruding from Zaroff’s pocket.
