National Honor Society

NHS has impacted my life because the organization has opened my eyes to what an honor society is. Like most members at first I believed that the organization primary focus was about the measure of one 's intelligence and persoal accolades. But, quickly I came to the understanding that the National Honor Society is an orgination whose beliefs are predicated on being a well roudned person. In life there are many narrow minded individuals, who only focus on one thing, such as money, intelligence, or success. But to be a truly well-rounded person you need to have more than one quality.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a notoriously prestigious organization, and it is possibly one of the greatest honors a student can earn in their high school career. Becoming a member of the NHS can open many doors for students, including leadership experience and opportunities for college scholarships. Admission for this program is based on certain ideals. The criteria for admission-scholarship, service, character, and leadership-are four areas in which, at least I believe, I excel. Even when I was a young child, I was very concerned with school.

I understand that to qualify for National Honor Society you have to be strong in academics. I have worked hard to be where I am today. I've been on the gold honor roll every semester. I enjoy school and I'm blessed that I have the opportunity to attend such a great

Furthermore, it can be argued the Federal Government was responsible for the advancement of civil rights for African-Americans from 1880-1980 because the Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education was a ground-breaking Supreme Court case dealing with busing students to promote integration in public schools in 1971. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system had more than 84,000 students in 107 schools in the 1968-1969 school year and there was an estimation of 24,000 Negros among those. Of the 24,000 Negros, about 14,000 attended 21 schools that were at least 99% Negro. This showed that desegregation was still needed in the city of Charlotte. It was first argued on 12 October 1970 but was officially decided on 20 April 1971.

Scholarships reminds the gratitude we earn after helping out the ones in need. All of these pillars are the true honor and meaning of being a National Honor Society member. In my circumstance, I have seen these characteristics take upon value and belief to my everyday life and future career as a cardiovascular surgeon. By the same token, my perseverance, dedication, and tenacity have allowed me to work with others to achieve a common goal. I strive to become a member of the National Honor Society because I possess qualities of the organization’s Character pillar, which is a worthwhile experience, and have a unique humanitarian service project idea that would follow the pillar of Service. By virtue of my trustworthiness, reliability, and courtesy towards others, I model traits of the National Honor Society's pillar of Character.

  As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. My contributions through this organization have made a significant impact on both my personal development and my community’s support services. The numerous volunteer projects in which I have participated have prepared me to continue helping others in the future. Through projects such as building houses from the ground-up with Habitat for Humanity, I have developed teamwork skills, discovered my management potential, and increased my social network, all while working to provide services for less fortunate individuals in my community.   Some

The skills I have been able to develope since joining the National Honor Society are skills that I will will use for the rest of my life. Before joining the National Honor Society I was a typically high school student who really did not care about anything around him. Since joining the NHS I have grown a new appreciation for everything around me. I have grown as a leader and a person and I have learned to have a new outlook on life.

With my luck I wasn 't surprised that the day National Honor Society slips were handed out, my homeroom teacher was absent. As I went from period to period, everyone gushed about how they were considered to become a part of the society. I sat there silently not saying a word. One can only imagine the stress I went throughout the day wondering if I was in or out. I ended up getting the letter the next day during homeroom.

The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.

It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.

It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.

During my high school career I have made a consistent effort to stay involved in both my school and community. Through clubs such as Key Club, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society I’ve been able to help out locally and globally in an abundance of ways. In Key club and NHS I am able to volunteer in traditional ways, but National Arts Honors Society allows me to contribute to my community and school in a creative way that stimulates people 's minds through art. Due to these activities having a significant impact on my life my future career options are based around what I have learned from them.

The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. Honor is a privilege that many strive for and is not easily attained. I aspire to call myself a member of the national honor society because I have strong leadership skills, am willing to do what I can to help out the community, I have good judgement, and am prideful of our high school. Character could be defined as who we really are. How we carry ourselves when others are not around, our ethics, morals, and the decisions that define who we truly are and how others will perceive us. I am hard worker, and will do whatever it is I can to get a task completed efficiently.
