Speech for NJHS Induction Ceremony Good evening students, faculty, and family members! Thank you, Mrs. Reece and Principal King, for inviting me to this year’s National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony. Students, tonight we honor your achievements in the areas of Scholarship, Citizenship, Responsibility, Community Service, Character, and Leadership as we recognize and celebrate the choices, and at times the sacrifices, you have made. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."

Moreover, I have worked very hard throughout high school to better myself and those around me in the many ways mentioned above. I also serve as a role model, both inside the classroom and out, by pushing myself to accomplish goals even I do not always believe I could, always respecting others and listening attentively to the opinions of people around me, and making an effort to enrich the lives of others. I am hopeful the National Honor Society will help me develop this further, and thank you for taking hte time to read my application.

Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.

USNA Essay I never really considered attending the Naval Academy until a Navy coach contacted me. I initially dismissed the email, but then my dad talked to me about the academic excellence and character development of the Academy, so I looked into it. In April, I visited the Yard and witnessed the character of the Brigade and the dedication of each Midshipman to becoming the best version of him or herself in athletics, academics, character, and leadership. I, Toni-Andreas Gozum, identified as a scholar, volunteer, leader, citizen, and, certainly, a character, demonstrate the pillars of National Junior Honor Society in all areas of life. I do my best to display each pillar through my conduct. I am expected to work efficiently, professionally, and honestly, and I can assure you that my work follows these guidelines. I, personally, have an obligation to exceed my expectations. I plan to apply to the Math and Science Academy at Ocean Lakes High school and the Technology Academy and Governor’s Stem at Landstown High school.

I studied every day, and I had recently tested myself on it and got a 76% overall, which I was impressed of remembering. I hope this can show you that I am above the average level and can be an important part of this team. This is my year of change. I want to motivate others to represent our town and be proud of it. Academic Bowl meant so much to me back then, and it still does now.

Lesson Plan 2 September 24, 2015 Mathematics Kindergarten 30 Minutes Preliminary Planning Topic/Central Focus: Students will continue learning about 2D shapes with the key focus being on the attributes of triangles in this lesson. They will also learn that triangles can be represented by many real world objects. They will show them triangles can be represented in many different orientations Prior Student Knowledge: The students have been working with shapes and have been assessed on their current knowledge of the basic shapes.

Honors College paper The introduction to my college experience has been honorable. I have been presented with a breath taking amount privileges I never expected to come my way. For instance, initiation into the Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Phi Eta Sigma honor society, and now I have the opportunity to be a representative of the honors college at Florida Gulf Coast University.

About me: I am a go-getter. I push myself to the limit in everything I do, be it sports, academics, or life in general. Every year of high school I have taken the hardest schedule possible, only honors or AP classes, and I have done well. My cumulative weighted GPA has remained above a 4.0 every year due to my strength of schedule and my dedication to excellence. While taking all of these difficult classes, I have played several sports including Baseball, Basketball, and Volleyball, as well as participating in DECA and Academic Team.

Scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship are extremely important ideals, in not only National Junior Honor Society, but in our society as well. All five of these words ingrain an influential meaning to the many adolescents living in our community. However, these words mean different things to all of us. To me, they may mean one thing, yet to someone else, something entirely different.

Four years ago, I remember being told, “We both know you can do it, you are just not putting in enough effort.” In the middle of my eighth grade year, the dreams of going to college and having a better life for myself was not important at that moment. College didn’t matter to me as I was with the wrong type of friends who always influenced my behavior whether I knew it or not. While I knew that I was capable of being on the high honor roll, it didn’t seem to matter to a thirteen year old. Knowing that college was still years away, I didn’t want to focus on it so early in my life.
