Bullying and peer pressure in middle school

Bullying and peer pressure are two problems middle schoolers face everyday. Bullying is when a student picks on another student. Peer pressure is when students pressure another student into doing something they aren’t supposed to. Middle schoolers are affected by both bullying and peer pressure. Both of them affect almost everything kids in middle school do.

Bullying is repeated harm directed toward weaker targets and peer pressure is when students friends pressure them into doing something they aren’t supposed to. 30-50% of middle and high schoolers are bullied. Bullying happens the most in middle school and high school because students have access to more technology and other factors that cause them to bully. Bullies have more experience than what they had before that caused them to bully other kids. Peer pressure happens the most in middle school and high school because the students have learned more about what they have learned about smoking, drugs, alcohol, shoplifting, boy and girl friends, lying and cheating that they want their friends to do it also by pressuring them.

There are different ways to stop bullying and peer pressure. The different ways to stop bullying are to stand up to the bully, tell an adult, and try to stop them by becoming friends with the person being bullied. Another way to stop the bully is to avoid them and and not make eye contact with them. Likewise, you can stand up to bullying by telling the students who are peer prussing who “No” or “I don’t want do that.” You can tell them that it will affect their lives later on. Bullying and peer pressure are a common problem middle schoolers face every day. It can affect their health, grades, how much they want to go to school, self-esteem, and their lives later on and if they get a job. There are many types of bullying and peer pressure and they both have different effects, but there are different ways to help prevent them in the future and stopping them
