Down the middle isle are the rodent treatments. On the top shelf there is a yellow box with mouse poison. The green box is for rats. Above them there are the snap traps. Below them are the Haveahart traps. On the hook to the right hangs the sticky paper. In this aisle, at Harvey’s Hardware, I learned all I needed to know about problem solving and building customer trust. Diagnosing rat infestations started with simple questions, ‘Do you have open food? Do you leave your doors open?’ Occasionally, these questions alleviated the issues and no further treatment was needed. However, when the unassuming problems were already addressed, a more in-depth resolution was needed. I assessed where the rodents were seen, asking questions to invoke the homeowner to consider patterns. Without doubting their recollection, I reassured them a solution was possible. We discuss their concerns with each method of treatment, I answered their questions, and offered guidance for use. From the middle isle, I recommended a poison in the yellow or green boxes. My skills were immediately put to the test on my initial days of the job. I was terrified of my first 911-call on the ambulance. Would I know how to assess the patient? Would I miss a major sign? I was concerned my initial patient care giving skills would be insufficient to provide the patient care expected of a trained first responder. However, something clicked on my first call. On arrival, I found an elderly man grasping his chest screaming in pain. However, when the patient told me he was taking Coumadin, I immediately reverted back to my days on the sales floor selling warfarin to kill mice. This patient was not suffering from a rodent infestation, but he did need me to ease his concerns. I knew the anticoagulant was used to treat blood clotting, likely indicating this patient had a previous history of blood vessel
He was a known heroin user and was in and out of treatment. You were able to see the track marks in both of his arms. His skin was cyanotic, pale and clammy, along with pinpoint pupils. When push comes to shove, everyone makes a tough decision, but in the end the decision was either out of fear to protect themselves, or a strategy to gain a designated amount of authority. In today 's society, many of the decisions people make lead to riots in the streets and people getting hurt. Similarly, the Ferguson riot in Missouri years ago, where many civilians were injured because of decisions made by everyone involved. Whether it turned violent because they wanted to prove something or because they feared the police when they showed up. The Crucible takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The action begins in the home of Reverend Parris, whose daughter Betty lies unconscious and appears very ill. Reasons Behind The Crucible Arthur Miller’s main purpose in writing The Crucible was to show the similarities between the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Trials and to warn against government propaganda. At the time that The Crucible was published, America had a huge fear of communism. Anyone accused of having ties with the communist party was shunned. It much resembled the Salem Witch Trials in how the government, or leader of the time, used fear against the people to gain power. For example, Joseph McCarthy can be compared to Reverend Parris in how they both lead the people into the belief that there were intruders in their mists that had plans to sabotage the community.
“Character Analysis over The Crucible” Arthur Miller is a commonly-known playwright, most famous for his 1953 play, The Crucible. The basis for The Crucible came from the witch trials which occurred in Salem, Massachusetts during the puritan era. Miller even uses some of the same characters in his dramatized play that were a part of the original witch trials in Salem. However, Miller made a few alterations to the historical members of the Salem society in order to suit his dramatic purpose in The Crucible, particularly Abigail Williams, John Proctor, and Reverend Samuel Parris.

In the 1955 prescribed text, “The Crucible,” playwright Arthur Miller establishes the exploitative behaviour of characters through dramatised staging features. Similarly in the 1964 related text, “The Times They are A-Changin’,” Bob Dylan insights individual ambitions through musical and poetic devices. The shared ideas of the modernist era such as the significance of religion and political hegemony are investigated by both composers in their perspective texts.
As time has passed, throughout history, during different periods of time there are parallels. There are three eras that we are focussed on, where there are three types of people during each era. The three different eras that we’re focusing on, are The Salem Witch Trials (1600s), The McCarthy Era (1950s), and Today (2000s); the three types of people are the people who are the reasons why there’s accusations towards the accused, the accused, and finally the accusers. In The Crucible, or during the Salem Witch Trials, the person that’s the reason why characters were accused is John Proctor. The accuser in the play, who decides to point fingers at everyone, is Abigail Williams.
The threat of Communism and the Red Scare put fear of group mentality into many people during the late 1940-50s. The authors of 1984 and The Crucible used their respective works to comment on the social injustice going on in their own lives, which connects to injustice the exists throughout time anywhere in the world. Miller wrote his play, set in 1692, about Puritans and the Salem witch trials because he believed that, similar to his trial for HUAC in the 1950s, the trials in Salem were caused by false accusations and mass hysteria led by powerful individuals. In 1984, Orwell creates a world in the near future that shows group mentality and its threat to conform society with the government.
