Tips for Incoming Freshmen in High School In middle school and all of my previous years I thought my freshman year of high school was going to be the toughest/worst year of my entire life. Movies and TV shows make it seem as if all that’s going to happen to you will be negative. So far, my freshman year hasn’t at all been a negative experience. I just had to tell myself that this was going to be like every other school year and to not dread it so much.

Growing up, I attended a very family oriented school that has helped me to grow, by exposing me to people who perform care taking roles. My involvement in the National Honor Society and other activities helped me mature and required me to develop the four pillars of personal leadership, service, character, and scholarship that allow me to connect with different people outside of my peer group. Immersing myself in these social groups, guided me to fully commit to and carry out many responsibilities. Since the ninth grade, I have been a part of my high school’s basketball team, which has taught me leadership and enriched my communication skills. Being a member of high-school teams helped me understand that sometimes I need to drop the walls I keep in place to allow my team members and I to work together as one family.

By nature, I am adventurous; I like to understand the world around me. As Benjamin Franklin stated, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I resonate with this quote because I explore my interests best when I am fully involved in a lesson, experiment, or discussion. The Smeal College-and its student organizations-offers unparalleled business opportunities that can be tailored to fit my specific needs which will allow me to conquer in its entirety my academic and intellectual ventures.

I write this addendum in support of and in good faith of full disclosure. Although I have no record or documentation for the events described below, and university records are destroyed after a two year period, I determined that the situation met the disclosure requirements of the character question. From July, 2010 to September, 2011, I was enrolled as a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. Freshmen students are highly regulated and restricted in their actions on and off campus. Upperclassman have a direct and influential affect on the lives of freshmen students.

This program membership will open new doors for me and make my high school and college experiences so much smoother. I think I will really benefit from having the college courses intermixed with my high school classes because I will be learning higher level information along with the high school work to challenge myself in Montco while having time in Pottstown High School to work on my electives. I would like to become an active member of Carrboro High School’s National Honor Society in order to benefit my community through service. I am immensely committed to serving and improving my community, as I have made distinctly clear with my 143 service hours. Through these service hours, I have focused on the improvement of the future community by helping disenfranchised refugee children coming from horrible living conditions in Western Africa, by teaching children about biology, chemistry, and scientific history, by preparing freshmen for their high school careers, by raising money to protect and aid voiceless animals hurt in car crashes and other human infringements, and by creating rain gardens, planting food crops, and decreasing Carrboro High School’s environmental

The main reason I am attending college, is to obtain my degree and start working in a profession that I enjoy and exceed in. I am looking forward to finally being in a place where I am happy to be. Where I feel I can contribute and be heard. To have a voice, and to have people really hear you is a great feeling. Even better when it helps others and helps you to feel better about yourself and what you are doing.

PGCE personal statement What motivated me to choose teaching is my passion for mathematics, which I have always found beautiful, exciting and constantly challenging. I was introduced to the subject through puzzles and games, much like Gardner’s column in the Scientific American, during a class of recreational mathematics called “Fun Mathematics”. The feeling of exhilaration has stayed with me ever since and if there is one thing I would like to impart to children, that would be it. My first experience of working with children was gained while volunteering for a humanitarian project in rural Mozambique, where among other things, I prepared, organised and delivered sports and educational activities for children aged 5 to 16.

I’m thrilled to say today is the first day of my final semester of college. I felt discouraged when I started this journey two years ago because I had been out of school and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I feel so blessed that I was able to make time and do something solely for myself. I am interested in taking the Board Exam early on January 13, 2016. I believe that my standing GPA and my preparation plan will allow me to successfully pass the exam at the earlier testing date. Currently, my GPA is a cumulative 3.35 with all my current grades being an A or B. I am dedicated to doing my best in school and earning the best grade I can. I will carry this mindset to taking the Board Exam.

I'm Gerlyssa M. Johnson, an African American native of St.Louis, the daughter of Jeanette and Gerald Johnson a senior at Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School. I`m an honor student involved in numerous extracurricular activities. School organizations like co-captain the spirit squad (cheer and dance combined together), vice president of sisterhood, treasure of president task force, member of student ambassador, and the intern leadership program. Outside of school I participate in two programs designed to help high school students ensure that they have the opportunity to prepare for, enroll in and graduate from college. My Goals in life are to achieve greatness in my profession.

Going to Oberlin would be like going to my high school, only tenfold. My high school is very diverse and I've been able to experience a myriad of different situations that, if I had gone to any other high school, I would never have encountered. The majors Oberlin have available are also big attraction points for me. When I get older I hope to become a roving photojournalist/psychologist, who writes her own books and sometimes works for National Geographic, and I feel as if Oberlin will help cultivate this dream of mine and turn it into something even more fantastic than what I imagined (i.e. running my own business that employs other photojournalists/psychologists who trek the world documenting big issues caused by people and figuring out why

Through prayer and careful consideration over my choice of universities to attend, Baylor stood out to me in many respects. I have attended First Baptist Church of McKinney since I was a little girl and have been raised with a strong Christian faith. Baylor was founded on Christian principles and offers faith based activities, community service opportunities, daily Chapel, and mission trips. The mission trips Baylor offers to their students is very important to me because I am called by God to serve him in that way, and I have been very fortunate to participate in many mission trips, the first being in my eighth grade year to Honduras.

Wouldn’t it be nice to attend the college of your dreams and graduate with little to no debt? In the United States college tuition fees have skyrocketed within the past 50 years which has resulted in many intelligent young people becoming unmotivated because the stress of finances has become overbearing. Therefore, college tuition costs should be lowered significantly in order to make sure college is affordable for all motivated people. I want to break down the barrier keeping us all from becoming successful! I have worked diligently throughout high school by taking Honors and AP courses because I want to go to college.
