People do community service to give back to the community, but what if one grew up to be a good giving back civilian? If one started volunteering at a young age will it benefit him when he grows up? Should he/her start giving back at a young age? Will it be worth it for the community and what influence would it give? These questions should be taken into consideration when the parents rise up their child. Parents should teach their child about community service because it will give their child a better chance to grow up as a good citizen. The numbers of youth volunteering around the world is increasing. Youth might volunteer as a school-based project, some might volunteer to finish their mandatory service hours to complete their requirements. Its not rare to find young ones helping the elderly or cleaning the beach just for fun, rising your child in a way that involves community service will help him develop a brighter future. Moreover community service might change the …show more content…
The feeling one gets after doing something good for others around us is not explainable, but it sure helps us feel more human and develop a better view of the things around us, what if children and youth where exposed to the same feeling, in my opinion children and youth will start participating more and more in community service projects to feel that they did something for the community. Charity work should not be mandatory and people should not have community service requirements to graduate, get a job or have a scholarship. The feeling of doing good is simply washed away when charity works becomes mandatory, youth who want to volunteer will do more but those who are not really interested will have a negative idea for volunteering and community service. The problem is that many schools, institutes and universities around the world use the mandatory community service for graduation. For example the university I study in has mandatory 80 hours of community service to get your final
For my service leaning assignment, I volunteered at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank receiving donations at the festival entrance. In volunteering at the event, I learned the differences in service learning, volunteerism and community service and will provide details in what I learned a about each. I will also provide details and examples of teamwork, communication and networking experiences gained while at the event. A brief overview of the Montgomery County Food bank will also be provided with information on the assignment task, measurable success and interaction with fellow students and organization directors.
They have a unique opportunity to learn each time they participate in community service. They will feel the satisfaction they get from helping someone. They also learn that even one person can make a difference. They, in turn, understand that they can make a difference.
In fact, I have been performing community service since I was very young. In middle school, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I made my service project the donation of snacks, toiletries, and other items purchased in grocery stores. I would collect supplies, packaged them, and ship them to Marines stationed overseas. This NJHS community service project was inspired by my membership in the Young
It also enables anybody to have that long-lasting and significant impact on society. Providing volunteer services gives me the opportunity to help someone in need while also advancing my life skills and wisdom. I like participating in community service because it is really fulfilling for anyone who gives back to their community. As I learn how it teaches me compassion and understanding, I also think it's crucial. This is a pillar that I consider to be of utmost importance.
It allows them to assist others without an expectation of a reward and to have a positive and enthusiastic spirit. I have participated in community service activities such as, assisting the national forest service in removing invasive species of The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, coaching kindergarteners for K-Ball, organizing the blessing box for my church, and assisting with the Reading High School Alumni yearly banquet. Each of these projects has allowed me to help my community in different ways. Removing invasive species in The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem allowed the national forest service to gain more intel on the various species of invasive plants. By helping coach the kindergarteners for K-Ball, I was able to practice another one of my skills being leadership, and teach the kids various skills that they will use not just in sports but hopefully as they go through life.
From as early as I could remember I noticed I was not like the others kids. I had an interest for things most kids would not be interested in. I liked interacting with people, knowing about people and their life stories; I wanted to help in anyway that I could when I would hear everyone’s problems. I thought outside the box throughout my whole childhood and I wanted to make the most out of my knowledge. I told myself that I was going to dedicate my life to helping my community.
Speech for NJHS Induction Ceremony Good evening students, faculty, and family members! Thank you, Mrs. Reece and Principal King, for inviting me to this year’s National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony. Students, tonight we honor your achievements in the areas of Scholarship, Citizenship, Responsibility, Community Service, Character, and Leadership as we recognize and celebrate the choices, and at times the sacrifices, you have made. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."
One of the many actions that keep our nation going, that is often overlooked, is community service. Often times community service is required in school and in jobs encouraging people to be excited to help out. Other times, people
Even though generosity is a virtue, installing this sense of charity can actually lead to the people who are doing the volunteer work to feel like they are superior to those they are
There is no doubt that altruistic attitudes play a significant role in motivating people to volunteer, but it is not the only factor that contributes to drive people involve in volunteering. According to functional approach, Clary and his colleagues (1998) have proposed six motivational functions which potentially served by volunteerism, which are Values, Understanding, Social, Career, Protective, and Enhancement. Involving in volunteering work may provide the opportunities for volunteers to express values related to altruistic and humanitarian concerns for others. Understanding function indicates volunteers they could have new learning experiences and the chance to exercise their knowledge and skills. The third function is concerning relationships with others.
Volunteering should be done intrinsically. Many students find community service so difficult, time consuming, and not enjoyable. Therefore, they tend to only complete the required hours without any essential effort. To call mandatory community service 'volunteering ' is a problem because then we begin to confuse the distinction between an activity that is willingly done and something that is obligatory and perhaps not always rewarding. Volunteering should be something you choose to do because you want to do it, not because somebody made you do it.
I. For your information, volunteering is where, we are willing to do something without get any force from anyone else. II. Nowadays, young generation has realized that, being volunteering in any type of event it can give them a lot of benefit. A. According to my survey, half of my classmate had participated in volunteering services.
There are many things in the world that could make a society better. Many people look down on some adults because they don’t think that kids and young people could make a difference in society. They laugh when a young person say that we want to make a difference because we have to stereotype that we just go out and smoke, take drugs, and never want to pay attention to the society. Many grown ups do not think that kids cant do it, they just want their kids to be normal and go to school just like the other kids. Young people came make a change in society by their Jobs, Community Services, and voting.
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
The effects of volunteering can range from many helpful characteristics. From helping those in need, giving back to the community, working for worthwhile causes, and overall helping someone with their health, mentally and physically. Volunteering can affect many people in different ways, but what most do not know is that it can help with
