“Space Junk” Threat and Solution
We have been launching satellites for over 50 years now and like retired NASA senior scientist Donald Kessler said “We have lost control of the environment” already. As a result of the near 5000 launches of communication, weather forecast, television and navigation satellites since the start of the space age, result with the potentially damaging space debris that orbits Earth. Scientists estimate the total number of space debris objects in orbit to be around 29,000 for sizes larger than 10 centimeters, 670,000 larger than 1 centimeter and more than 170 million larger than 1 millimeter and like we learnt in the class as a result of their

Two of them were general discussions of the space debris problem and one article from focused on “Clean Space One”. I already had some background information about space debris problem from the class but these articles gave me additional information about the subject. The article from NASA titled “Space Debris and Human Spacecraft” was highly scientific but understandable for a non-scientist reader. I believe the science that is included faithfully reported since it is from one of the biggest authorities on the field. The article explained well how NASA tracks the debris and maneuvers the spacecraft and debris if necessary. The article from Huffington Post is less scientific and addresses more to non-scientist readers relatively to the article of NASA. Due to that, I found article little bit general and lack of scientific details. It only gives a general idea and points out the current problem. The journalist would give more data and perhaps explained the problem to the people with figures or images. I can also say the same thing for the NASA’s article. Visuals would make the article more informative. In this regard, my third article, “Space Junk Cleanup Satellite Launching on Swiss Space Plane in 2018”, by Rob Coppinger was highly satisfactory. The journalist supported the ideas and information with videos and images. It helped me to understand how the satellite works
By starting his article with, "If ever there were a newspaper headline custom-made for Jay Leno this was it. Kids taking McDonald's this week, suing the company for making them fat.", gives consumers the opportunity to make their own conclusion based on the topic. This was also

The article created of which is supported by Nasa, tries to make it clear to the general audience that the issue of climate change is real. Nasa being rated to be factual high on the biased scale can be trusted as it favors no political side, making their articles based on scientific evidence. The article opens up stating “Most climate scientists agree the main cause of the current global warming trend is human expansion of the "greenhouse effect” A strongpoint of which this article has would be its ability to inform the average viewer about the issue of climate change. Due to this article being supported by Nasa, a pro-science website, this source can be trusted as this article would be backed up by the scientific theory. Comparing to the article created by CNN which backs the creation of “synthetic trees”; Nasa’s article would be meant to inform the reader, however, due to CNN’s political biased towards the liberals, the average viewer may see the article only favor the political view due to the biased.
For the my articles or columns used, the shared topic was climate change and whether any actions will be taken accordingly. After reading and evaluating all the information, I have concluded that the article “Republicans Try a New Tack on Climate Change” (The New York Times) by Justin Gillis, presents a clear and well rounded argument that emphases on climate change, its effects on the environment and humanity as well as solutions to the issue. In the article, the writer presents most of their evidence in a logical and scientific way by having them be addressed by an expert: ‘“.. All those things have been ruled out,” said Drew Shindell, an atmospheric scientist at Duke University.” Unlike in the other articles, there is no expertise or claim
Article is written into two columns from the top to bottom and is arranged as a newspaper. Readers are able to read the article easily by the format. In addition, the author uses the technical language and accessible language because this
On Sunny day of 1918, streets were filled with joy and laughter as parade was on its peak. Few parade teams passed audience and entertained them. soon, clicking sounds of hard boot heel echoed the city. As the noise got larger, number of battalions marched down the street. Group kids ran to see them close and one of them actually made through the crowds.
The 1960’s were a period of social turmoil. The cold war had been brewing and was a contest of nationalistic interests between the US and Soviet Union to compete for militaristic, economic, social, and technological might. As the cold war culminated and became increasingly competitive, the United States and Soviets competed in the phenomenon called the Space Race, a competition between the two countries for supremacy in the frontier that is space. Although the Soviets reached space itself before the Americans, The United States took the advantage by landing the first people on the moon using the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The Apollo 11 moon landing influenced American nationalism in the late 1960s and early 70s by inciting a positive public reaction

Finally I tried to use complex structures like one might see in as higher level publication such as Jet set with sentences like “money and social position are good opportunities we have for happiness” and “they have to show to the rest of the world their power and perfection” . Using these elements I feel I reached my purpose set out in the task. This task addresses the theme of Happiness, money and social position . For this task I chose monthly magazine because I felt that in this
Nowadays debris is an integral part of humanity life. Mankind thinks about how to make the product easier and cheaper to use, but nobody cares what happens with waste after it was used. We contaminate the environment with every decade increasingly: muddied air and water, global warming are an output of human life. The worst thing is that from such attitude other living beings are dying. Millions of animals and birds cannot withstand such environmental changes; their populations become smaller and, eventually, disappear altogether from the face of the earth.

One main concern is the pollution caused by disposal of the rocket pieces in space. Due to the fact that most of the fuel tanks become extra unneeded weight as the rocket exits the gravity of earth. Some other "space debris" are old satellites, broken lost equipment, and boosters. The other problems are the safety hazards and the cost it presents to the people. The space program is very cost worthy and the economic problems have made people think about their actions towards private space programs.
“Citizen Journalism” has been hailed by many as a ‘new’ form of Journalism that will overtake ‘traditional’ forms of Journalism. Do you agree? Discuss the pros and cons of such an argument. Citizen Journalism is an argumentative concept by its very nature and one which is particularly hard to define. It involves non-professional, un-trained locals reporting on news themselves and using social media as a platform to do so, in a basic sense.
Karin 20/08/2014 English 8A Nearly everyday in our lives, we see banners, magazines, newspapers, as well as posters telling us to be environmental friendly and to stop pollution. But do people listen to the advices? Do people realize that pollution is one of the biggest global killers? Pollution is the number 1 cause of death in the developing world; it kills approximately 10 million people every year. It’s hard to tell when and where pollution began.
Space exploration has long been a debated topic. From the days where there was controversy between whether the universe revolved around the Earth, because god made humans special, to whether Copernicus’s idea that the Earth and the other planets of the solar system revolve around the sun was true. Then there was the space race where there was a dilemma based on what was ethical to be produced and sent to space (such as weaponry during the cold war). The more contemporary problem involves the exploration of space and the danger that space debris poses. We must accept however that space is our back-up plan if we were to exploit the Earth to such an extent that we could no longer survive here.
