Should There Be Stricter Gun Laws Essay

The guns laws in this country must, absolutely must be reformed. I am an eighth grade student at Woodlawn Beach Middle School in Gulf Breeze. In the past couple of weeks, I have been told about multiple shooting threats to schools in our area. I was also informed of a recent shooting in Pensacola. Then, there was the school shooting in south Florida.

In a nation of pioneers and settlers, where we capitalize upon a bear wielding a firearm to represent “our right to bear arms” there has come to be quite a bit of bloodshed because of that right. Fear has been interwoven into the school system, a kind of fear that even the greatest school safety measures cannot prevent. Such instances being the Columbine, Newtown, and the more recent Parkland school shooting. It cannot be controlled who does the killing, but what can be isolated is the weapon those chose as their aid in the slaughtering. So many lives are lost in these devastations a step towards preventing more from being lost is increasing gun control.

To start off with we should insist on a mandatory training and licensing. Also put some focus into safe and secure gun storage training. The training should not be a one-time affair. Gun owners should be required to renew their permits regularly. As well as to regularly refresh their training so it stays fresh on their mind.

Gun control is what restricts people from buying and using guns, but these laws are not strengthened at the extent they need to be strengthened. This leads to many people getting these guns and using them to cause mass shootings all over the U.S. For example, according to the Council on Foreign Relationship, a news article that covers major world issues, in 2017, mass shootings at a music festival in Las Vegas and at a church near San Antonio have rekindled the gun control debate (“U.S. Gun Policy: Global Comparisons”). The fact that gun control is still not tightened is a huge margin and error, and still causes mass shootings as we just covered. Many people have said that we should not allow guns to be purchased, which would seem like the logical option. Legislation needs to take more of a stronger part in regulating gun control to avoid further situations like school shootings. Private companies, or any company for that matter, need to do more in prohibiting guns at the workplace, whether it be inside or in employees vehicles. Gun control laws should be more strict because there has been to many shoot outs all over the world, this has caused many people to die. The most recent shoot outs have been in turkey and many other places. With stricter gun laws there would not be as many shoot outs. Not only shoot outs but other killings. There should be way more strict gun laws because it would make better communities and better neighborhoods.

On, February 14, 2018, a mass school shooting in Florida got the nation’s attention, however, gun violence has always been an issue, and it is only getting worse. Now people are saying there needs to be something done, and there are many that agree. Starting off there should be stricter gun laws, because in today’s world it is too easy to get handguns and assault rifles. With, the capabilities a firearm holds, such as taking people’s lives there must be stricter restrictions that could help cut down the gun violence and save lives. Increasing the age of purchasing a firearm would be one step.

Gun control has long been a controversial topic in the U.S. The U.S. government need to strengthen the gun control regulations to a level that no one has gun, with only a few exceptions. The government will then still need to have supervision on these exceptions. These can protect her citizens and future. Currently, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution empowers the U.S. citizens to own guns.

As our guns have changed, our laws regarding who can carry and what sort of gun they can carry should change as well. In Florida there was a shooting at Majority Douglas High School. The laws in Florida did nothing to protect the students and faculty from this tragedy. Therefore, improved gun control laws could have prevented this from occurring. Gun Control On February 14, 2018 seventeen innocent people were shot and killed at a school in Parkland Florida. The shooter being over the age of eighteen, legally purchased the gun that caused this massacre, back in February of 2017. The federal law states, anyone with a clean criminal record over the age of eighteen can legally purchase a gun. This brings people to wonder, is our gun control enough?

The issue of gun control is an ever growing pandemic debate in the United States of America. This is an issue that intrudes on many different topics ranging from personal liberty and safety to government control and regulation. It has become a question of whether or not law abiding citizens are allowed to possess regulated firearms and to what extent they are to do so. There are many different positions on what gun control laws and regulations should be, but the two wings of the spectrum are people who believe in complete gun control and people who believe in absolutely no gun control. These two viewpoints are in constant conflict with one another and both have definitive arguments to uphold their standpoints.

In 2009 a German high-school student went on a rampage and killed 15 other students, he didn’t have a gun, he used his dad 9MM. Even in a country with strict gun laws, a shooter was still able to find a gun to use. Shootings like this has started a debate on whether there should be stricter gun control laws. Some people believe that gun control laws will help shooting when some believe that it’s not going to stop shooters from getting a gun and shooting people. Even though there has been many massacre shootings, the US doesn’t need stricter gun control laws.

Imagine the future, boom, sounds of guns exploding everywhere. Don’t have anyone to trust. This could be the future of America because of the law. Guns are becoming more popular to buy and people are using guns for cruel things. The government is debating about guns and if the age range should go higher or lower.

The problem is that there seems to be an ever-increasing issue of people going and killing innocent people such as the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Now some people have been saying that we need more gun control to fix the issue of school shootings, and although I believe that gun control has some merit and does need to have some form of implementation I don’t believe it fixes the underlying issue.
