1. Please first reflect on the personal element of the Andrea Yates story - do you feel/not feel sympathetic toward Andrea? Why or why not? In your opinion what does her personal/home life look like? Do you perceive her as healthy/insane? I feel a little bit of sympathy towards Andrea Yates, but not so much. The reason is because although Andrea did have mental problems which must have been hard to deal with while taking care of kids I do still believe she was still fully capable of understanding that her actions were wrong. Andrea lived a normal life and showed promise that she would lead a successful life. Andrea grew up with loving parents, she got good grades, and she was liked by everybody, and had a career going for her as a nurse. Even after she got married and had kids it could be seen throughout the home footage that her kids were very playful and loving there was nothing that could have made her insane in her home life. While in her personal life I do believe that there were some things making her stressed out such as her depression and deciding to follow the teachings of Michael Peter Woroniecki, but I feel that because she was given help for those problems especially her depression she should have been healthy enough to recognize whether her …show more content…
The reason because Andrea never displayed the full characteristics of an insane person. Although she did have depression she received help from medical doctors and was prescribed drugs to help her with that. However, Andrea made efforts to not take the drugs even so far as going by faking it to others that she did take the drug when she really didn’t. Those actions proves that Andrea knew she was not doing the right thing. Also Andrea kept downgrading their home for the purpose to be closer to her family even though it didn’t really help, but she made an effort to do something good for her family. Which also shows that she had a mentality to help and do something
Early morning on September 21, 2015 a woman turned and saw a man running away from the apartment below her she ignored it and went into her apartment, a few minutes later she heard screaming and a whimpering barking dog. That night she called the police and they rushed to the scene where they found the deceased body of Andrea Delvesco not only that but the man had returned to Andrea’s apartment and set it on fire. Police say that there was no evidence of the man who could have did this to Andrea Delvesco. After reading this article I still have doubts about the death of Andrea Delvesco. Does anyone think that the police could have saved Andrea Delvesco before the man put the building on
Then, on July 17, 2008 officers search her car and a cadaver dog picks up the scent of human decomposition. A month later, on August 27, 2008 the police say that an air sample of Casey’s car did in fact have human remains in the car. Then on September 24, 2008 a woman in Kissimmee, Florida with the name Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez the same name Casey gave in her statement files a lawsuit against Casey because of the defamation the case has brought to her. Remember during this time Casey is in prison, the state of Florida is putting her in jail before they even have evidence that proves that she is the murderer of her own daughter. Through months of investigation on October 14, 2008 a grand jury indicts Casey on capital murder on top of other charges, Casey Anthony pleads not-guilty.
When asking her daughter, Casey, where Caylee was she made many different excuses before finally admitting that she had not seen Caylee in weeks. Police suspected that Casey was responsible for the death of Caylee and after an investigation, Casey was charged
She may have had her emotions completely take over and her mind may have been telling her body what to do. Being emotionally unstable, makes our brains “foggy” and can often blind us from the real world and concepts of right and wrong. She was obviously not psychologically stable in her life during that
After reading chapters one and two of the Psychology in Everyday Life book and learning about the four big ideas in psychology, and also while trying to figure out the contributing factors of Andrea Yates’ murder of her children. I have to focus in on and think about big idea two, the biopsychosocial approach, that integrates three levels which are biological, psychological and social/cultural; all together these factors influence and give insight into behavior and mental processes. (CITE BOOK) After reviewing these, the psychological factors that I believe to have contributed to Andrea Yates’ murder of her children are, firstly biological, Andrea had a genetic predispositions, which means Andrea had an increased likelihood of developing
Have you ever killed some one? Over a 100 years ago Lizzie's parents were brutally murdered by someone and the only person they focused on was the daughter lizzie borden. Lizzie Borden was the axe murderer no doubt about it because all the signs pointed to no other than Lizzie herself. The reason I think Lizzie killed her parents was because she didn't like her stepmother and thought if she didn't kill her father her father would think its her. Lizzie is a true mastermind to have gotten away with murder because there is no other explanation to Lizzie's parents brutal death.
As the story progresses we come to understand the reason behind all of this. Unfortunately her home life is not the best as she lost her brother and her mother a victim of attempting
Instead of pitying herself, she decided to be courageous and do her duty- to almost any extent. For example, she was once caught by the Confederate army for spying, and was sentenced to death by hanging. Nevertheless, she stayed calm, never gave up, and improvised her way out. She used her previous acting experience to pretend to be sick. The court allowed her to get better first, but acted weak at court, and they took pity on her.
Firstly ,Elena Vilkas. A selfless, hardworking, fearless mother who installed strength and determination to those around her who may not have survived without. Also known for her unselfishness which she exhibited in many situations of the novel. For example, when Elena gave up her bread ration to a starving boy who was already dead but had his hand outstretched as if he was asking for food. The incredible thing about it was that she herself was also very sick and that bit of food could’ve ended up being very critical between life or death.
To think what she went through during her college years and managed to graduate at top of her class and still went on to go to the prestigious Oxford University, along with getting a degree in law and becoming a professor of law at the University of California. Throughout all of her troubles and the outlook of her condition she, made the most of it. Looking through what the illness did to her in the prime of her life, made me awry. The fears she must have had gone through when in another country and going through the progress of getting treatment made me feel sorry for her. I think just reading “The Center Cannot Hold” gave me an eye opener to how much schizophrenia can mess with the mind.
Later she started forging checks from Amy’s account. It seemed that Casey lacked remorse. A young mother should be acting close to crazy trying to figure out where her daughter is, but even when Casey called from the jail, finding Caylee wasn’t her top priority. She was mostly concerned with getting her boyfriend’s phone number and got mad when Caylee was brought up. Casey Anthony’s arrest was seen as helpful because she wasn’t helping the police get
Two women from Texas, Andrea Yates, 37 and Darlie Routier, 27 both shocked the world when they brutally murdered their children. Both women were described as wonderful mothers who loved their children, but were also described as having post-partum issues during the last years of their children’s lives. Andrea Yates admitted to her harsh crimes and was willing to take any punishment that was given, as she believed she was saving her children’s souls. On the other hand, Darlie Routier did not admitted her crimes towards her children. Darlie Routier pleaded not guilty, but prosecutors believed differently after many conflicts appeared in her story.
Once they arrived at the camp, they realized that she was not crazy, she was speaking the truth. She was warning them of the crematorium. Aside
On the morning of June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates murdered all five of her children by drowning them in her household’s bathtub while her husband was away. After the birth of her 4th child, Yates became diagnosed with postpartum depression and this carried on after the birth of her 5th. Yates indicated the killing of her children was due to the fact that she was seeing violent images and hearing voices telling her to get a knife, or even hearing a voice she believed to be the devil that told her he was after her children. Such voices can be explained by the psychodynamic perspective that Yates’ behavior of killing her children was a result of these unconscious voices that were demanding her to take such violent action. Growing obsessively religious over the years, Yates followed extreme Christian views presented by the
In addition to her actions being a result of circumstance she still desired to be good. This is proven when she travels across the country to seek forgiveness in her indirect role of her lover from his wife. “You must hear it, so that I might be forgiven,” she begged as she tried to tell the wife what had happened (Maguire 319). She still desired to be good and when that woman was killed, the one woman she believed could forgive her, she snapped. She became an obsessed creature that lived in the castle of the woman and her kidnapped family, lashing out in fear.
