The Revolutionary government decided to take harsh measures against people they thought were against the Revolution.

The Reign of Terror was a bad and horrific period that lasted almost a year. It involved the rough and dark reality of crowd justice and murder as the terminal for the victims of the same. By this time, rough justice was the word in the streets of Paris and in other sections of the country. The Jacobins and the sun-culottes joined hands. The violence was unstoppable.

To many this is a major tragedy. I do not think the Reign of Terror was justified. Simply because of these three points; they threatened with unnecessary force, secondly, they used fear as a controlling device and lastly, their actions don 't add up to their reasons. The first reason the Reign of Terror was not justified is that they used unnecessary force. They threatened with the draft and made them fight against their will (Document C).

The Reign of Terror lasted a year over the span of 1793 to 1794. Throughout this year, many people died because the National Assembly deemed it necessary in order to control the people in which they governed. If one were not following the ideals of the revolution, they were killed. Was the Reign of Terror justified? The Reign of Terror was not justified through the external and internal threats the people faced, the unreasonable methods of terror, and the ideals that the revolution followed.

The tragedy of Branch Davidian’s Mount Carmel struck the city and lives of innocent people. FBI and ATF officials raided in hopes of finding David Koresh red handed. But my country didn’t like me, and they unanimously voted to overthrow me, even after I promised to make the Bystanders and Victims lives better.

The Reign of Terror was very violent event that took place; although, people made it out to be helpful and resolve multiple issues it resulted in making many people very miserable and sad. This act that took place was not justified because the leader was self elected and not giving people the right to vote for their leader. Another example of this was people´s hopes were manipulated and misguided leading up to violence. The Reign of Terror was the third class (bourgeoisie) had started a war with the first class because they did not treat them well. The Bourgeoisie killed many of the first and second estate.

The Reign of Terror in France was not justified. This claim can be supported by looking at three areas: external threat, the internal threat, and the methods. The external threat was not enough to justify the Reign of Terror. One example of this is that “churches are soon closed by revolutionary government” which is wrong, because people should be able to choose what they believe in (Document A). Another example is that the “Government denies legal counsel to accused enemies of the revolution” (Document A).

V for Vendetta is a movie set in near future in England. V, a victim of the government’s program aimed at preparing biological weapon, who survived the fire accident at the Larkhill Testing facility is adamant to overthrow the corrupt government and bring anarchy in the county. The protagonist possess superpowers but the essence of the movie is not displaying those powers but the idea he carries. In popular culture, V has been displayed as a terrorist, but this stand is debatable.

What happened to the radical revolution after the Terror? The great terror brought upon Revolutionary France a period of bloodshed, death, and fear unlike anything civilians had ever seen before, especially within the streets of Paris. During this time, the French Revolution veered sharply to the extreme; its leaders openly advocated the need for suffering, terror, and even dictatorship in order to achieve the perfect utopia that the French people had been striving for since the Revolution began. This could be seen as a sort of trial by fire or, ironically, an extreme period of personal sacrifice for the French people in preparation to their salvation in a manner similar to the Catholic practice of Lent before Easter.

The Reign of Terror did not support the ideals of the revolution. Unfortunately for French citizens, they were not able to elect tribunal members. French people were rejected in their own country, which is proven by the statement that “conspirators are, in its eyes, only strangers”(Document G). After the execution of Louis XVI, the Reign of Terror began during the years of 1793 - 1794 which was led by French politician, Maximilien Robespierre and lasted for 18 months.
