In Patrick Henry’s Speech, he talks about how much our nation does not deserve to be controlled by another nation. In the speech, Henry says “I know not what course other may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”(Henry 3). This quote shows that Patrick Henry is willing to risk his life for the freedom of his country. Patrick Henry uses a passionate and confident tone to express his feelings toward the topic of liberty. Both Anthony and Henry use tone to fight for liberty so they can accomplish their goals. As there are many similarities, there are many differences as well. Anthony is battling for ladies' entitlement to vote and Henry is battling for individuals' autonomy. In “On Women’s Right to Vote” Anthony portrays the victimization of ladies and having the same equivalent rights that men have. Henry and Anthony use narrative techniques such as mood, tone and purpose to let the reader be more understanding of what went on in those days. The mood in “On Women’s Right to Vote” is very stern and precise. Anthony convinces you by making you feel terrible for how ladies were dealt with in those days. Ladies were not given every one of the rights that men got. In the content, Anthony is battling for other ladies' rights and as well as her’s. The tone of the Anthony’s speech is very serious. She is standing for what she believes is the right thing, which is women having equal rights and privileges as men. The purpose behind the story was to let ladies and perhaps men know how men and ladies were isolated in those days in light of legitimate rights. Also, that men did not deserve more rights than women just because they are more dominate over them. She used mood, tone and purpose to show how upset she was about what was going on and that there was a need in change. In Patrick Henry’s speech, he uses a mood to convince others that they should be fighting for the freedom of their nation. The mood in the story is very patriotic and serious.
