Of the six prisoners mentioned in the film, I felt the most compassion for Eugene ‘Bishop’ Tannehill, an elderly inmate who preaches eternal salvation as he awaits a parole that never comes. I also felt the least compassion for Vincent Simmons, accused of raping two women, but he says he didn 't commit the crimes. Later down the road, Wilbert Rideau lectured as the advocate for the reform of the criminal justice system and against the death penalty.

Through the years of 1750 to 1901, the journey of thousands of humans sailed out overseas. With many decisions, they all experienced something different, from those who were forced to leave, had to leave or chose to leave. The voyage of slaves, convicts and free settlers differed immensely, yet, they still had slight similarities. Kidnapped and forced into slavery, that was the early stages of becoming a slave. They were forced on to the ships then chained and bounded to each other as they sat, tightly packed inside and buckets used as toilets were shared among the slaves.
Many people have been slaves and prisoners since they were young. Some of them born there and are slaves or prisoners for their whole entire lives. Most of the time their lives are stuck in the darkness and never know what is going to come or happen to them. Every day in their lives they feel worry, afraid, and frightened because they’re scared that they might do something wrong or unable to do what they have been told. In their lives, the only goal they have is to escape from slavery and imprisonment or be a good slaves and prisoners.
Unchained Memories Review The documentary Unchained Memories were reading by African American actors and actresses from the last generation of born into slavery slaves and their experiences as slaves, their treatment as slaves, and the culture of the time. This documentary really stood out from other documentary and movies because these narratives were from actual slaves and none of the slaves had the same or even similar experiences. These narratives are so precious that they are held in the Library of Congress. Unchained Memories helped better my knowledge of the history of slavery in America because it solidified how hard the slaves were worked and how awful they were treated.
