What comes and goes but gets better overtime? What is new and old at the same time? Technology, technology comes and goes but keeps getting better over time. It is also new and old at the same time, because technology never stops advancing and improving. The 1980s were a prime example of this; of both technological, political, social, and economical advances.

The Macintosh was like no PC seen before; it had the best graphical user interface of any PC of its time, because it was the first to use such a groundbreaking technology (Quezzaire). The Macintosh was a work of wonders its software was something rarely found at that time. The Macintosh grew and evolved, and was so highly praised that Microsoft tried recreating it in their windows program (Torr 153). Another amazing feat in technology in the 1980s was the space shuttle. Space was an amazing place that boggled the minds of all including the United States who reached it in the 60s. They did not stop there though, because on April 12, 1981, the United States created its first reusable space shuttle. The two solid rocket boosters that helped boost the space shuttle into orbit would be re-used, once recovered from the ocean along with other parts (Dunbar). This was an amazing feat that would lead to even more technological advances in space aeronautics. In 1981 IBM released the IBM 5150 which was the company's very first personal computer. It was groundbreaking at the time, and would lead to other advances in software. The original IBM 5150 contained an intel 8088, but later models would use a true 16-bit 80286 CPU. The Republican Party was at its nadir after Watergate, but Reagan was able to form a winning coalition of fiscal conservatives, family-values voters, blue-collar Reagan Democrats and neo-conservative intellectuals and set the stage for future GOP electoral gains. His free-market, small-government, pro-liberty conservatism helped to revitalize the GOP and his influence resonates today as conservative candidates still invoke Reagan as their standard-bearer. The military was abated during the Carter years, but Reagan reversed it by rebuilding the armed forces. He revived the B-1 bomber that Carter canceled, starting production of the MX missile, and pushing NATO to deploy Pershing missiles in West Germany. Also, he increased defense spending by more than 40%, increased troop levels, and even got much-needed space parts into the pipeline, which ensured that America remained a military superpower.
Reagan was seen as a great President because of the way he talked and the way he was able to open his speeches. This is why he was known as the Great Communicator, he would start his speeches with a heartfelt story or a joke to get closer with the listener and start talking on a personal level, to really get the people to start listening. Reagan did not know what he was talking about in economics, and that is why the economy had somewhat tanked during the Reagan presidency, even though Ford and Carter before him had not helped the situation. Reagan was able to drop inflation, but he had caused a major recession because of it. Reagan had also put on the most tax cuts ever in United States history, and tried to put the power back into the corporations.
The best US President will always be remembered for what they accomplished in their term as President, Ronald Reagan was a President that carried his amazing accomplishments even after his time as President. A great US President should have experience before taking office and should know what they are doing and keep America on the right track, also Reagan kept to his point and got things done, most of all President Reagan did something no one else could do and beat communism. These qualities made Ronald Reagan one of the best US Presidents. Before taking office as President of the US he was governor of California this gave him experience in the field of politics, he won his first election by 1 million votes. Although he was the Governor of California from 1967 to 1975, people couldn’t see him as anything but a Hollywood actor. Reagan started to get an amateurish reputation. Ronald Reagan was a man of many accomplishments. From starting out as a Hollywood actor to becoming the 40th leader of this country, he was a man of integrity, winning the hearts and minds of many and will forever be one of the most admired presidents this country has ever seen. There were a lot of technological changes that occurred in the 1980’s. One was The Personal Computer it was invented by Bill Lowe, the lab director in the company's Boca Raton, Fla., facilities. If you lived through the 1980s, then you know there were a lot of popular technologies products today made their mark in the 1980s. While there were several ideas of the Personal Computer the IBM 5150 long-established reputation that worked in its favor. It had a 16KB memory that was expandable to 256k, 16-bit 8088 processor running at 4.77MHz, two RS-232 serial interfaces, floppy disk drives, and an optional color monitor.
