Boston Massacre Introduction Boston Massacre is the famous riot that took place between the British soldiers and American patriots. The trigger point was the levy of taxes on the Americans called patriots in literature with regard to this particular era. The killings were attempted by the British soldiers who were posted in the territory for making sure the implementation of the introduced taxes on general consumption goods like tea, wine, fruits, red and green glass, red and white lead, paste board, papers and painter’s colors. The taxes were imposed under the famous Townshend Acts 1767.

First, On March 5, 1771, a group of colonists gathered and started taunting a soldier in front of the Custom House. Quickly more colonists gathered around the soldier. Different sources say that there were anywhere from 70-200 men that were there that night. The Boston Massacres was a terrible event that has faults on both the colonists and the British soldier's shoulders. However, no part of this event would have happened if the colonists had not formed a riot right in front of the British soldiers. The colonists have the right to complain about their feeling on how they are treated by the king. They do not have the right harass and or threaten these British soldiers because these soldiers had done the colonists no fault. By complaining, cursing and or threatening these British soldiers is not going to change the way in which the colonies are treated.

The reason I believe this was an important cause because it was, “ the first episode which resulted in the loss of life.” It is stated that, “Four Bostonians were killed when Redcoats fired into an angry mob.”
