The Crucible by Arthur Miller focused on a very dark time in our nation’s history: The Salem Witch Trials. In the midst of this frenzy, many people were accused and killed. In the the play, three very well respected people, Giles Corey, Rebecca Nurse, and John Proctor, were all executed; however, their deaths were necessary.

The Crucible is about a group of girls that was singing and dancing in a forest near a fire and got caught by a minister named reverend parris. Many people was wondering and very suspicious of what they’re were doing outside. The main girls names was Abigail ,Tituba and Betty etc. A man named Reverend parris who is basically the leader of Salem and a minister also the father of Betty and uncle of Abigail was very rich .When the girls was finished dancing Betty mysteriously fainted because she didn’t want to get in trouble because her father had saw them outside in the forest.

The Crucible is a story based on the time during the Salem Witch Trials, written by Arthur Miller. The genre of the story is a play and the author's purpose of the story is to inform the audience on what happened in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692-1693. The Crucible is a twisted story about how one girl named Abigail Williams will do anything to get what she wants, even if it means to accuse everyone in the town’s a witch and having dealt with the devil just so she can have a married man, named John Proctor. Everything gets out of control and Abigail conveniences everyone in the town that whoever she says is a witch, is a witch, except John Proctor because he knows her true reason behind all this evil things she is doing and he doesn't want her.

There are many to blame when a problem in a small town arises nevertheless one deserves more blame than others. In the Crucible by Arthur Miller, describes the hysteria of the people in Salem when young girls start to accuses others of witchcraft. These girls such as Abigail Williams, Betty Parris and others were first caught dancing in the woods however they were doing more than just dancing. As a result the young girls fear what would happen to them, thus Abigail sets off the trail of lies. Therefore, Abigail Williams manipulative and vindictive personality and compulsive lying is to blame for the chaos in her small town of Salem.

The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller in 1953 about The Salem Witch Trials of 1692.McCarthyism was the “witch hunt” for the communist in 1953.the parallels between The Crucible and McCarthyism are naming names,lack of proof ,and reststance. The first reason they are parallel is because of naming names. Hollywood director Elia Kazan went in front of the HUAC twice. The first time he did not confess and names.

This part of the play Miller uses rhetorical questions to emphasize the seriousness of this scene as to who is telling the truth and who is not. The character Danforth is prompting Proctor to not try to be a lawyer in these cases of witchcraft due to the fact that witchcraft is a serious accusation that only the victim and the witch herself can come forward to on the matter according to Danforth. Before Danforth speaks Proctor says that he is not indeed trying to be a lawyer to these cases in which Danforth explains in his line that by bringing witnesses he is indeed trying to be a lawyer to the cases. Danforth then at the end of his line asks if he has made his point emphasizing that he knows what he has said was true and he feels strongly

Arthur miller greatest stage play The Crucible wrote in 1953. The crucible was wrote as a metaphor to the mccarthy trials . Mr. Miller described the book witchcraft trials which is a whole different time period but, this book was trying to represent that the time of the mccarthyism, and how everyone was being accused and harassed for being a commie. In fact Mr. Miller himself was accused for being a commie. In his stage play he made similar connection, like how he had the characters all be accused of witchcraft and even anyone who talk or looked like one was accused , many of the them where innocent people.

The movie stars Winona Ryder as Abigail Williams, Daniel Day-Lewis as John Proctor, Bruce Davison as Reverend Parris, Joan Allen as Elizabeth Proctor, Paul Scofield as Judge Thomas Danforth and Rob Campbell as Reverend John Hale. In the play the actions take place at four different places – the anteroom of the courtroom, the jail and the homes of Parris and Proctor, all of them are indoors though.

The Crucible takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The story begins with a group of girls practicing witchcraft and one in particular, Abigail, took part in the practice to harm another woman, Elizabeth. To explain, Abigail tried to kill Elizabeth because she is the wife of John Proctor, the man she loves and had an affair with. Then, one of the girls became ill after participating in witchcraft and so panic spread through the town as everyone believed that others participated and are conversing with evil forces. Soon after, the town accused people of witchcraft and began taking people to court and sentencing others to death.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a dramatic play that expresses a very important message and that is how far people would go to save themselves from the hands of death. There are many characters in the Crucible who are guilty of taking innocent lives, but there are three major characters who, without a doubt, are the most at blame. The play takes place in the city of Salem, a city filled with people that would do anything to keep their reputation clean. Throughout the play, Miller is introducing multiple characters that experience changes in their decisions and negatively influence more people eventually leading up to the witch trials. The main point that the story revolves around is that people would rather lie and blame someone else instead of confessing and accepting the punishment.

Arthur Miller is an American playwright and author whose most famous work was The Crucible, a slightly fictional play written about the Salem Witch Trials of the late 1600s. Miller decided to write this play as an allegory to the Red Scare, a time when fear of communism was rising, most notably in the United States. His own personal experience with the House Un-American Activities Committee, or HUAC, accusing him of being a communist and condemning him when he refused to testify and accuse others of communism, was greatly part of his decision for writing The Crucible.

In addition, a girl named Abigail persuaded and intimidated people to get what she wanted, which is John Proctor. However, Danforth accused Proctor for working with the devil and gets hanged for it with Sarah Good. These events caused people to take revenge on others and killed, out of greed. To begin with, the Salem witch trials had a negative impact to the people, Judges, and the people of the Church.
