The bloodshed and carnage of WWI was still fresh in the minds of Europe. Russia had recently gone through a revolution that destroyed the monarchy, and put the leader of the Bolsheviks, the party that led the revolution, in charge. His name was Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, also known as Lenin. Lenin and the Bolsheviks practiced communism, the belief a totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production. In other words, there is no privately owned property, and all property is owned by the state.
Communism was very popular with the lower classes, and mostly consisted of workers, peasants, and soldiers. Lenin died after suffering a series of strokes, and never decided on a clear

The final offensive was called the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation by the Soviet Union. The soviets made it within 40 miles of berlin, then halted their assault for a few weeks, to ready for the final push. There was three Soviet fronts in total, one attacking the south, another attacking the east, and the final one attacking German positions north of Berlin. The Soviets started to bombard the city with artillery before the attack, softening up the already disorganized German units. The Nazi defenders were made up of normal soldiers, but also poorly trained militia and Hitler Youth. When the soviets finally entered the city, intense urban fighting broke out, but the Soviets were able to push their way through the city. The battle was won for the Soviets after they captured the Reichstag, the German parliament, and the city center, which caused Adolf Hitler and a few other high members of the Nazi party to commit suicide. A few pockets of Nazi resistance sprung up here and there, mostly caused by Nazi soldiers trying to fight their way west so they wouldn 't have to surrender to the Soviets, which was almost equal to a death
The Bolshevik Revolution as well as the Russian Civil War had established the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The USSR is a communist state, and Western republics and capitalists feared the
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked the end of the Romanov dynasty and centuries of Russian Imperial rule. During the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks, led by leftist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin seized power and destroyed the tradition of czarist rule. Civil War broke out in Russia between the Red and White Armies. The Red Army fought for the Lenin’s Bolshevik government. The White Army represented a large group of monarchists, capitalists and supporters of democratic socialism.
Russian Revolution In 1922, as a result of the Russian Revolution, a new political party emerged: the USSR or the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was the world’s first communist state. Communism was a new political and economic model that was supposed to get rid of class distinction. From the beginning, communism opposed capitalism and capitalist countries like the United States. The Russian Revolution united the socialists against the capitalists, with the USSR, a communist country, siding with the socialists.
Berlin was known as the centerpiece of the Cold War. Being the capital city of Germany, the desire to have power over it was extremely high. Germany was split into two, the East, taken over by the Soviet Union, and the West, taken over by the United States, Britain, and France. Tensions rose between each country on who would be able to have power over Berlin. Since the city was on the east side and up to 100 miles inside Soviet-controlled East Germany, the Soviets had power; However, the West would not allow them to take over the capital city so easily.
Question: Evaluate the rule of Stalin in the Soviet Union, taking into consideration the changes made and the methods used. Russia’s turbulent start in the 20th century was characterized by their involvement in the first world war, being the critical factor in the Bolsheviks seize for power in the October Revolution in 1917. Vladimir Lenin rose into power and lead Russia toward a communist nation with extreme centralization and doctrinaire socialism but the Kronstadt Rebellion of March 1921 forced Vladimir Lenin to begin the New Economic Party in order to stay in power. The policy allowed private ownership and management of agriculture, trade, and small businesses. However, upon Lenin’s death in 1924, rose Joseph Stalin as the leader of
It was seen as a revolutionary political philosophy that promoted social conservatism, fiscal prosperity, and ultra-nationalism. In the early 1910s Bolsheviki Communism was
Post WWl, Russia was still not industrialized, suffering economically and politically and in no doubt in need of a leader after Lenin’s death. “His successor, Joseph Stalin, a ruthless dictator, seized power and turned Russia into a totalitarian state where the government controls all aspects of private and public life.” Stalin showed these traits by using methods of enforcement, state control of individuals and state control of society. The journey of Stalin begins now.
However, the question of whether he was a hero who toppled an oppressive tyranny, or a villain who replaced it with another remains a controversial one today. In 1917, Lenin helped overthrow the Russian tsar Nicholas II, and founded the Soviet Union. On October 1917, after the victory of the Russian Revolution, Lenin did not have a clear image on socialism, or how it meant to be built. He was, however, able to state the three principal characteristics of socialism, which were the public ownership of the means of production, an end to exploitation, and the dictatorship of the proletariat. He did not take action on these points, and did not devote much attention to socialism as he felt it was not yet an immediate issue.
Communism, an ideology developed by Karl Marx, was a key component in the revolution of USSR. Marx envisioned a society where the lower and upper classes were equal in regards to property and rights. During the Russian Revolution, an extensive amount of propaganda was used to promote communism. Although propaganda was used in various forms, the posters made a huge impact in convincing the population of Soviet Union to support the communist cause. The posters contained several healthy messages about the effects of the revolution in Soviet Union.
Communism builds on the idea that everyone is the same and should earn the same amount of money regardless of their profession. The most important with communism is that there should not be any class distinctions. China, Laos, Cuba and Vietnam
Within the time of a long war the Bolsheviks won. They stated that everything was going to change but nothing did. The Bolsheviks also tried to spread it to other countries, they wanted communism
Most of the population disagreed with both of the policies, however, the benefits and the positive effects outweighed for many. War Communism had a significant impact on the peasantry and the proletariat, it was extremely unpopular and not successful enough to continue. It has been suggested that War Communism was an attempt by the Bolsheviks to go straight to socialism, it is more likely that it was a reaction to wartime conditions, justified by ideological position. The effect of War Communism on the proletariat was immense, Lenin nationalised businesses to place the economy on a war footing. All industries came under direct control of the state, managers were forced to stay in their positions and private trades were banned.
The Russian Revolution, which was started by Lenin and his followers, was a rebellion that occurred in 1917 which forced higher powers to act to the needs of the lower class. For instance, many citizens were worried for their protection in consequence to the lack of survival necessities due to an early drought. Furthermore, their current czar during the time was incapable for his position as a czar and made horrendous decisions as czar. For example, when the czar, Nicholas, entered in World War I, he sent untrained troops into countless battles of failure which costed in mass amounts of lost life (paragraph 23).
Lenin’s role in the period of 1917-24 was significant as he began his many runs of success using his leadership skills and organisational abilities as he persuaded the majority of Russia to join him and his group, known as the Bolsheviks. Lenin was the mastermind behind the Bolshevik revolution, war communism and the Red Terror. Although Lenin was rather successful, he had suffered a few failures which had impacted Russia even after his death in 1924. Lenin came across as persuasive and strong-willed, diverting the negative attention away from the few failures that had taken place during his reign. He had always seemed to have a plan and was quick on his feet, especially during War Communism.
Karl Marx talks about the role of communism and his conjecture of underlying this type of revolution. He speaks of two different class struggles, the "Bourgeoisie and Proletarians". Bourgeoisie are the people with authority, the ones who own production and are bosses of wage labor while the proletariat are the individuals with no authority, no ownership and are giving up their own power to the Bourgeoisie in order to survive. Societies began to separate and became hostile and aggressive classes. It all became about social ranking because of the increase and need of production.
