A Succeeding Future Is college even worth going? This question is constantly being asked by many people of all ages. College creates openings for a future that can be decided by the choices students make for themselves. National Association of Colleges and Employers states “Among this year’s graduating seniors, 64 percent reported some form of internship or co-op experience while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.” This statement highlights one of the many chances a student is given to succeed in their lives for attending college. College is worth it for more opportunities in the future. Firstly, college graduates make more money compared to those who only finished high school. That point is true, but it is unimportant because there is a greater amount of people with only a high school diploma being unemployed compared to people with a college degree. As reported by CNN Money, on a recent chart it shows the unemployment rate for high school graduates at 5.6% compared to the unemployment rate for college graduates which is 2.5%. This data proves how both high school and college graduates may be unemployed but there is a significant difference between how much more high school graduates are unemployed than college graduates. Some people may argue that college sets students back a lot of money. But that is not the case. As we see, not going to college will actually cost students more than going in the long run. According to New York Times, “The true cost of a college degree is about negative $500,000. Over the long run, college is cheaper than free. Not going to college will cost you about half a million dollars.” Many people have the idea that not going to college will save money but it 's the exact opposite, people will actually lose money by not going to
