Why Is Henry Adams Important?

In 1787 two men helped influence the making of the constitution of America. These two men had some minor differences but they both wanted the same outcome, for the united states to be independent. Patrick Henry and Benjamin Franklin both gave amazing speeches that lead to the making of the constitution and to America being a free and independent country. Patrick Henry and Benjamin Franklin both had similar ideas when it came to what to do with Britain. Patrick Henry believed that they must fight that if they didn't fight they would have no liberty.

Patrick Henry was born in Hanover County, Virginia on May 29, 1736 (Biography.com). His father was a Scotland immigrant, and his mother from the line a Virginia gentry ( Biography.com). His father served in the colony as a Justice of The Peace (“Henry, Patrick”). At age 15, he ran a store for his father to fail to succeed (“Henry,Patrick”). As a child, he loved long walks in the forest by himself and he was a child in love with music, he learned to play the fiddle and the flute.

Many people know the name, “Sam Adams”, and associate it with a brewing company. However, this is not the same Sam Adams that was famous during the American Revolutionary War. This Sam Adams played a major role in gaining the Colonies independence, and some say that this Sam Adams was the father of the American Revolution. Sam Adams was the most important member of the Sons of Liberty because of his patriotism, passion, and perseverance. Sam Adams was the most important member of the Sons of Liberty since he showed a great amount of patriotism.

John Quincy Adams was not an advocate for slavery. He fought for the freedom of the Africans that were brought over on the Amistad. In order to free them, John Quincy Adams had to work closely with Roger Williams and Cinque, like we saw in the movie. He deeply cared about the lives and well-being of the Africans. To make an influence in these people’s lives he gave a speech in front of the supreme court.

Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of Treasury of the United States, had a lot going for himself being a man that came from poverty to success, and he was a man “all powerful and fails at nothing which he attempts” admitted a congressman in 1791 (Tindall and Shi). Born in the Caribbean in the West Indies, abandoned by his father and orphaned at the age of 13 by his late mother who had died. Later moved to New York, became a lawyer and transitioned to nationalism thus giving him the important role of handling the weight of the debt America had accumulated $54 million deep after the Revolutionary War (Digital History). Hamilton saw the need for some financial credit to be given to America and he had the right idea by proposing a National Bank to his first president George Washington. She uses personification to put more emphasis on the truth which is essential to be a successful leader. John Quincy Adams will feel like it is his duty to be a great leader because he has these positive qualities. She wants her son to obtain the good characteristics of a leader to make her proud, and does this by being suggestive. His mother tries to persuade him by saying that he will make his country honored and his family extremely happy, by becoming a victorious leader; she will be the most honored because he is her son, who she wants to be successful.

Abigail Adams played a very important role in the American Revolution; even if she didn’t fight in the war. Abigail fought for women’s rights and slavery instead. Her perseverance pulled her through rough times, as well as her stubbornness. Abigail Adams was an independent woman and a fantastic role model. Abigail Adams was born on November 11th, 1744, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and grew up with no formal education.

Patrick Henry was the first governor for the state of Virginia, and also a major figure in the American Revolution. Henry was not very educated, but he had skills that pushed him to leadership in the Revolutionary era. As a member of the House of Burgesses, Henry opposed the 1765 Stamp Act. He helped organize Virginia’s first Committee of Correspondence and served as a representative to the First and Second Continental Congress.

In 1516, he created the first National postal service for royal mail; although it was only opened to the public in 1635 during the reign of King Charles I, King Henry VIII initiated a postal service that we still currently use. The Royal Navy was significant to Henry VIII’s reign. He expanded the navy fleet to 45 ships in 1540, thus making their navy the most powerful. Henry VIII wished to protect his trade routes and prepare for invasions from France so he made building a strong naval force a priority.

A hero is defined as a person who is caring, honorable, and put others’ needs before theirs. John Adams is a great example of a this. John Adams was born on October 20th, 1735 in Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard University in 1755, where he earned his undergraduate and master's degrees. In 1764, John Adams married Abigail Smith and they had six children.
