1.1(a) Discuss why metric and SI system is better to use in measurement. Explain and list at least 6 physical quantities scientists use in measurements.
There are several reasons as to why using the Metric System and SI Units are better to use. Each measurement has only one unit of measure regardless of the size which makes it a lot simpler to understand. Another factor that makes the metric system a better system to use is that the units use the same conversion, for example, 10, 100, 1000… therefore because all the units are the same you only have to move the decimal place.
6 Physical quantities used in measurements
A physical quantity is a quantity in physics that can be measured. The basis and fundamentals of physics rest upon these physical quantities and therefore allow the laws of physics to be expressed. This therefore means they must

Mass – This is the quantity of matter in a specific body without looking into any forces acting upon it, often confused with weight however weight has measurements’ whilst forces are being acted upon it. In physics there are two ways of referring to mass. One being gravitational mass and the second being Inertial Mass. Gravitational mass suggests that there is a force of gravity acting against every objects, it tends to be measured by comparing the force of gravity of an unknown mass with the force of gravity of a known mass, usually on a scale balancing system as the scale is used to cancel out the gravitational force. This can be done anywhere as the masses will always cancel out each other because of the gravitational acceleration. Inertial force, a system defined by one of Newton’s Laws of physics, suggests that when a force is applied to an object that it will accelerate proportionally and that constant acceleration is the mass of the object. This is derived from Sir Isaac Newton’s 2nd Law of physics, and is calculated as ‘F = ma’ (Force = Mass x Acceleration) where Mass is measured in Kilograms
Marsha McMillen Unit 5 Math Discussion After researching the metric system uses in the medical field, I found quite a few uses just used in the billing and coding field. It is used for cost, production to reduce supply and labor costs, clinical performance, such as quality of patient care, also called “patient outcome” data. Other uses are, Patient Safety, nearly 100,000 Americans die each year, because of medical mistakes, that happened during their stay at the hospital, these accidents can lead to longer recoveries and permanent disabilities. We use metrics in-patient surveys after treatment/release, to measure patient satisfaction of their care.
# 1: Part B Explain in 2 or 3 sentences how the atomic weight is what is reported. Answer # 1: Atomic weight or atomic mass is basically the average mass of atoms of an element. Atomic mass is calculated by using the naturally occurring relative abundance of isotopes. Atomic weight determines the size of the atom.
Measurement issues. Data, even numerically coded variables, can be one of 4 levels - nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio. It is important to identify which level a variable is, as this impact the kind of analysis we can do with the data. For example, descriptive statistics such as means can only be done on interval or ratio level data. Please list under each label, the variables in our data set that belong in each group.
Which of the following unit is used to indicate mass? a. Cm3 b. Um c. Mg d. mL 21. Which of the following demonstrate a chemical reaction of water?
1. What new knowledge did you gain from the discussion with your principal about worksheet 14? I have gained reassurance for policy and procedures for data reporting. Last year there were 3 out of 4 administrators that were new to our school; therefore, it was a transition year. I feel that we did not get a handle on our data until the later part of the year.
For each question you may use your notes and book. Please defend your answer with a sentence or two about why your answer is correct. Let me know if you have any questions. Make sure you put the information in your own words and don't just copy. What were the advantages the colonists had over the British during the Revolutionary War?
“Human conversion errors are inevitable. (Strauss 21)” Conversion between metric and “english” units are a challenge for most people. So it’d be easier if Americans just stuck with one measurement system shared worldwide. The metric system has an easy conversion between units of the same quantity.
For an example, if a paper airplane weighs to much, the force of gravity will overcome it. Same thing in real life. If a heavy object were to be in the air, gravity would pull it down. Same thing for the plane. If it is to heavy, then there is no way for the plane to overcome the force.
It is not necessary to switch to metric since the US already knows it while also knowing the US system. The system of measurement is like a culture which other nations have problems with but the US does not since it has its own system. Switching to the metric system could be beneficial but not such a huge necessary change that is necessary. With the US Customary system, the US could stand out from the rest of the world. It is not a follower but a leader of its

Lastly, many of our people aren't willing to take the risk to convert and get snubbed by the French again, just like they did in 1798. Therefore, there are many key factors and important reasoning that goes into making a major decision, like choosing whether to convert our country onto the Metric System or not. I believe that the United States should not convert over to the Metric System because it would put our country in debt and diminish our super power status. For example, NASA has already
Hooke’s law is the law is named after 17th-century British physicist Robert Hooke. He is first stated the law 1660 .the principle of physics that the force F needed to extend or compress a spring by some distance X is proportional to that distance. F=Kx when K is a constant factor of the
