Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States, murdered a man cold blooded, he was then elected to be in the highest position in office. Andrew Jackson was a man that thought his way or the highway. Jackson even though was a man of the people that doesn’t make up for what he did.
On May 30, 1806 Jackson got in a duel with Charles Dickinson because he accused Jackson of cheating in a horse race then insulted his wife. The duel goes down Jackson shoots and misses witch, he is known for being a good shot. Dickinson shoots and hits Jackson on the shoulder. The rule in a duel is you get one shot, one and done. While Jackson is lying on the floor, he recocks his gun and kills Charles Dickinson. This was a very big deal because you just don’t do that in 1806. Moreover, he then was elected to be the president of the United States after this had happened.
Additionally, Andrew Jackson also was the reason that the trail of tears happened. Jackson made over 125,000 Native Americans walk on

Andrew Jackson did lead in the Battle of New Orleans. He had the victory and did lead his troops well. Jackson was also a man of the people. The people liked what he had to say and what he does. Additionally, Jackson did give more power to the president. It was they could not choose their cabinet or make big decisions for the white house now, the president can choose their cabinet and have more to say in decisions. However Jackson did kill a man! The fact of the matter is that he was even in the running for president. This is basically saying if Donald Trump full on shot and killed a man not even out of self defense he is aloud to be in the running for president and become president. Furthermore, Jackson also, started one of the most terrible subjects in history, The Trail of Tears. This was a terrible subject and he killed a lot of people and families. Therefore, Andrew Jackson was a
Jackson had a great vision of running the country from a common man’s perspective but failed to oversee beyond this perspective and see the bigger picture. At the start of the new nation, the government was bouncing back and forth wether power should stay with the states or within the central governmetn intself. Jackson followed many of the Jefferson’s idea for government and also belived on states rights. This idea slowly began to change when one of the states, south carolina, began to threat the government of seceden from the union.
Andrew Jackson was a horrible person that somehow slipped into the position of President of the United States. Andrew Jackson was so controversial because he would do things for the country like getting more land available to the settlers but in order to do all of that he needed to commit mass genocide of the Native Americans and lie to other government officials to get his way. Andrew Jackson did many villainous things while he was in the position as president and all these acts can show you that he was a monster that only became president to get what he wants and do what he wants. The most evil thing that Andrew Jackson ever did was the Trail of Tears, an event where the removal of the Native Americans across the already established United States forced them to
Jackson also fought for our country in The Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson was a revolutionist, a committed
Andrew Jackson caused the death of 12,290 Indians during Indian removal. Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States of America and a former general during the War of 1812.He quickly rose to power by being the “voice of the common man” he had 11 children and a wife yet he also signed one of the most conservation act ever the Indian Removal Act. Andrew Jackson shouldn 't be allowed to be on our money because he caused the death of tens of thousands of Indians and violates the constitution.
The Nullification act was passed to help the states decide if the laws made by the government were constitutional and if they needed to follow them. If the law was found unconstitutional by the state or if it “hurt” the state in an way, the state could nullify it. This shows that he feared the states having equal power to the government and country as a whole, because if he passed a law that was truly unconstitutional, then the states would not have to follow it. In result to this, the compromise of 1833 was created. “Jackson’s Economic Issues” was the document used for the information of this
Andrew Jackson was a great General and won several battles against all odds. But that doesn’t excuse him for his murderous acts. Not only did he kill but him took pleasure in killing, he bragged about it. As I said he was a killer he didn’t care that being an early president he had to set an example for all future presidents.
Although this act was harsh, to some it overshadows the good that Jackson did. In the source: Letter from Elias Boudinot, Cherokee Indian, Elias says, “Removal, then, is the only remedy, the only practical remedy. Our people may finally rise from their very ashes, to become prosperous and happy, and a credit to our race.” The quote is from a Cherokee Indian agreeing that the removal might be the best thing for the Native Americans. Andrew Jackson is a hero because he worked to bring more democracy to the
Jackson, like the common man back then, supported slavery. He killed, and took the land from millions of Native Americans and push them west. This was known as the Trail of Tears, the saddest time in history of the Native Americans. He vetoed the re-charter of the Bank of the United States by abusing
Andrew Jackson, being a tyrant, abused his power in his time of presidency. He was the 7th president, but before Jackson’s presidency, he had no political experience. One of the only things that really qualified him was the hardships he went through when he was younger. His father had died while Jackson was young and Jackson received the reputation as a “self-made man”, or an independent man.
Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.
Although Jackson was important, he was part of many terrible things. Around the 1820s there were many major indian tribes in eastern United States such as Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole. This soon came to a change. Andrew Jackson thought these Indians were in the way of eastern development, using the Indian Removal Act which the congress had approved he decided to kick them out and send them west. In 1831 the Supreme Court ruled that the Cherokee Indians had the right to self government and the United States could not interfere with that.
The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality. The first reason that Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero is because of his unifying leadership.
He believed the people should have the power to elect their president. Jackson also surrounded himself with people who supported him. He had replaced the “corrupt bargain” with the “spoils system” in doing this. During his during term he did not do much, but in the reelection his beliefs about the Second Bank of the United States was the main point that determined who would be the next president. Jackson won with flying colors and he was onto his second term.
Andrew Jackson disobeyed a direct order from the Supreme Court, which it means he was above the law. I really wonder how Americans tolerated him, at that time, he was cruel to the Indian common man. Because of him, the Native Americans have the worst end of the Trail of Tears. They are the ones who are forced out of their traditional homes and sent away on a journey of pain and death. Those who had fallen ill, most of the time died, and those who had the will to move on were able to make it to the end and start new lives.
Born into a non-aristocratic poor family, somewhere in the Carolina’s on March 14, 1767, was a man named Andrew Jackson. Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
