Life of Pi written by Yann Martel, is about a teenage boy who goes to a life changing tragedy after his family decides to move to Canada. In the process of immigrating to Canada Pi and his family endure in a tragic event. That made Pi come to the realization in order to survive he needs to sacrifice his beliefs and his values. In the life of Pi, Yann Martel creates this sense of hope for the reader that whatever difficulty one is going through that there is always hope, as seen in the book even though Pi loses literally everything he loved, believed in but he still has hope and that hope is what motivates him to succeed.

One may feel that probably the most significant parallels between Yann Martel's work and the cutting edge setting would rest in the look for importance after the disaster. Pi's battle for importance and his change in character is started subsequent to persevering catastrophe. Pi says that he is Christian, Muslim, and Hindu. One could say even though Pi believes in three religion he knows how to cope with each religion so he does not have conflicts. In contrast to real life one could say one religion is fighting against the other religion but this is not the case for Pi as he believes in three religious peacefully. Does not have an issue with each of the three religions coinciding inside his life. He sees the three religions coincide inside the city of Pondicherry India, and he trusts that they can effectively exist together inside himself. Also one could imagine that the point of view and religion is staggeringly significant to "genuine living."
