Technology is becoming extremely, in a way, invasive in our everyday lives and many movies have made sci-fi fantasies about technology/robots taking over, such as Terminator or Wall-E. Although, is that really the road we are heading down with the advances in technology and how much we use it? In a sense, maybe. In the article “Robot Invasion” by Charlie Gillis, he discusses the controversial argument about how robots are becoming complex enough to take over certain employment positions that are held by hard working humans. Gillis does not seem to take a side in the article, but instead, he argues both sides and gives some pros and cons for and against robots. Such as, increased efficiency for certain jobs such as assembly lines, but a decrease in job opportunities for humans. I agree with …show more content…

The author does a decent job of expressing both sides to this issue and the ups and downs to both sides. Readers should see the problem with having robots take over the manual labor jobs and the negative impact it will definitely have on society whether we have time to adjust or not. This article is relevant because for many people this could mean the loss of their job because machines can perform it for less, and this means people who did not look at going to college before may have to find some way to do so, or they will have little to no choice in jobs. Today, this article has little impact so far, but with the huge improvements being made in robot technology every day; it will most definitely have an even bigger impact down the line. If we do not take action now we could be looking at a future where robots hold more jobs than humans, or where we become dependent upon them for just about everything (like the movie Wall-E).
