An Analysis Of The Guile Wiesel's 'Night'

This section did not have hope in it unlike the past section. However, I was able to get more of a perspective of how activities ran in Auschwitz and all the other camps intermingled within it. I found that the section had only a few parts that were disturbing, but for the most part, I find that the author of the book is increasingly likeable. Although he has guilt for some of his orders, it is a significant contrast from the guards in charge whom do not care about any prisoner. What I found to be very reprimandable is when Nyiszli gave the female prisoners medicine to take back to their shacks.

In chapter five of the Holocaust memoir Night, by Elie Wiesel, Elie’s relationship with his father grew stronger while his relationship with his God became weaker. After being faced with the horrors in the concentration camp, Elie’s belief in an intangible God is replaced by the immediate urge to tend to his father’s needs. The love shared between them is the only drive he has to stay alive. Due to these circumstances, Elie slowly begins to lose hope in the god he once adored, but gains an inseperable bond with his father.

Reflective Statement During the interactive oral the class talked about what the lizards represented. This is very important because it is the reason Mr. Korteweg moved the body. The represent the three axis countries, and his memory of his wife.

Dehumanization is the process of depriving a person or group of positive human qualities. The Germans are violating most, if not all the Jews human rights from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This document does not stop the Germans in the Holocaust. Eliezer Wiesel is a jewish author and a holocaust survivor who writes a chilling book about his traumatic experiences during this horrific event.

“Granted, our task is to inform. But information must be transformed into knowledge, knowledge into sensitivity and sensitivity into commitment”. This quote was written and told by Elie Wiesel to show the transformation of which Elie Wiesel went through as being a jew and during the holocaust. The quote states that “information must be transformed into knowledge knowledge into sensitivity and sensitivity into commitment all the words have something in common. Elie Wiesel was a survivor of the holocaust which back then was the worst experience in life.

Steele analysis Night as being focused on how the Holocaust affected many people’s faith with God. He states that Night’s purpose was , “to focus on the Holocaust’s significance for altering the human understanding of man’s relationship to God” (Steele 1). He then begins to explain that ever since 1945, due to the Holocaust, many theological revisions have taken place in both Jewish and Christian beliefs. However, he distinctly points out that, “Night is not an example of the “death of God theology””(Steele 1). He makes it perfectly clear that Wiesel did not lose complete faith in God, however his views of God were significantly alter after his survival.

To begin, human connections can shape lives by taking away one’s sense of hope. The excerpt Night by Elie Wiesel begins with Eli telling the reader his emotions after experiencing the holocaust. Elie says, “Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a silent sky” (Wiesel 37). In this quote Elie has a flashback to when he lived in the concentration camp and experienced the brutal murder of children and adults. This experience changed him forever and took away his hope for humanity, since he experienced such inhuman actions.

When they reach the camp they are sepperated men on one side then woman on the other. This is the last time he sees his mother and sister. After that his plan throughout the camp is to stick with his father no matter what. As they are walking a man comes up to him and asks him his age. When he says 15 the man tells him “No you are 18” and then asks Eli’s father how only he is.

Years after his experience at Auschwitz, Elie Wiesel described the conditions within the concentration camps in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Wiesel was quoted in this interview stating “In that time, it was humane to be inhumane”. Throughout the novel Night the concept of humanity is explored. After reading the novel I concluded the people are born good but they have the choice of following the right path and making the right decisions or under the pressure of society turning to the evil.

In the novel, “Night” Elie Wiesel communicates with the readers his thoughts and experiences during the Holocaust. Wiesel describes his fight for survival and journey questioning god’s justice, wanting an answer to why he would allow all these deaths to occur. His first time subjected into the concentration camp he felt fear, and was warned about the chimneys where the bodies were burned and turned into ashes. Despite being warned by an inmate about Auschwitz he stayed optimistic telling himself a human can’t possibly be that cruel to another human.

For every individual, it is difficult to give up two than one. In the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel, Elie magnanimously inputs his blood and sweat by sacrificing his strength and rations for the survival of his father. He holds unconditional hopes of believing that he will be able to make not only himself survive through the brutal camps under German control, but also his father through his efforts. Through this, Elie uses the relationship with his father to suggest that individuals should be independent for better survival because it is more efficient to create a single, strong individual rather than two weak ones. Elie may have continuously helped his father in lengthening his endurance, but failed to straighten his father’s will.

Night, by Elie Wiesel talks about his struggles as a young Jewish boy in Hungary growing up during World War Two. Before the war, Elie was very reliant on his Hebrew studies, such as reading the Talmud and the cabbala. His teacher's name was Moishe the Beadle, Moishe was a very active and exceptional man. The Hungarian government sent out a decree stating that all foreign Jews were to be sent away. Moishe the Beadle was a foreign Jew, so he is sent away.

To find a man who has not experienced suffering is impossible; to have man without hardship is equally unfeasible. Such trials are a part of life and assert that one is alive by shaping one’s character. In the autobiographical memoir Night by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, this molding is depicted through Elie’s transformation concerning his identity, faith, and perspective. As a young boy, Elie and his fellow neighbors of Sighet, Romania were sent to Auschwitz, a macabre concentration camp with the sole motive of torturing and killing Jews like himself. There, Elie experiences unimaginable suffering, and upon liberation a year later, leaves as a transformed person.

Chapter One Summary: In chapter one of Night by Elie Wiesel, the some of the characters of the story are introduced and the conflict begins. The main character is the author because this is an autobiographical novel. Eliezer was a Jew during Hitler’s reign in which Jews were persecuted. The book starts out with the author describing his faith.

Night by Elie Wiesel shows when humans are put in horrible situations, the acts of selfishness greatly increase. The book shows that when humans are in crisis like the Holocaust everyone is desperate to survive, so they will do anything they can to get their basic needs. The people forgot who they are as human, and how it made Elie and others act differently towards each other. Elie Wiesel, and everyone who he meets along the way want to survive this, at times they forget why they want to live. But no one wants to get defeated by the Germans.
