Chris Watts and Scott Perterson both took the nation by storm. Both men were accused of killing their pregnant wives, and both cases were incredibly public. Chris Watts was accused of murdering his wife Shannan and his two kids Bella and Celetese in Frederick Colorado. Scott Perterson was accused of murdering his pregnant wife Laci in Modesto California. While both cases have their own differences, one detail about these men turned them into suspects very quickly. Scott and Chris both displayed cold, uncaring, and suspicious behavior throughout the investigations, and neither of them could seem to form a logical story about details of what happened. Laci Peterson was reported missing on December 24, 2004 by her stepfather, from her home in Modesto California. Her husband , Scott Peterson was suspicious from the beginning in the eyes of the public. Not only did he seem nonchalant and uncaring about his wife’s disappearance, but he refused to publicly ask people to help search for his missing wife. This gave him a horrible reputation in the media and brought light to his strange behavior throughout the case. His lack of cooperation with the police didn’t help , in fact Scott refused to take a polygraph, and according to police seemed uninterested in the investigation. This put him on their radar almost immediately and was constantly brought up by the media. Initially Scott’s in-laws defended him to the public, but during a vigil held for Laci they noticed that he was on his phone and seemed completely unemotional about the whole ordeal. This behavior raised suspicion amongst everyone even further. It …show more content…
Their disappearance not only devastated the community, but the entire nation. Unlike Scott Peterson, Chris Watts seemed like a concerned father in the eyes of the public at first. He agreed to TV appearances and begged for the safe return of his wife and kids. Police and investigators were the first to notice his strange behavior. When his wife was first reported missing, Watts stated that he was on his way home and didn’t give police his consent to search the home until he returned. This behavior was odd considering that Shannan was pregnant and reportedly ill that day. Chris not wanting them inside the home alone made it seem like he was nervous about them potentially discovering something, and his calm demeanor raises a red flag. Once he returned to his home and greeted police, instead of calling out for Shannan or the kids inside the house, he first opened the garage and thoroughly checked his car. This initial reaction from Chris showed exactly where his priorities lied, instead of looking for his family he decided to make sure there is no residual evidence inside of the car. Another behavior Watts displayed that made him suspicious was his inability to keep his story consistent. During his interrogation he insists that he didn’t kill his wife and

Susan’s own husband seemed to be the only person in the state that didn’t care about finding her. Josh actively avoided the police and every attempt made by the media to interview him. Even when the media succeeded in getting an interview with him and his two sons, Josh avoided any kind of question that would place him under further suspicion. The same cannot be said about Braden and Charlie. When asked about his mom, Charlie said, “My mom is staying where the crystals are”.
Also, Routh was found to have intoxicated himself with marijuana and whiskey the night before the murders he committed. Routh was facing many mental illness problems as it seemed but the doctors and specialists who dealt with Routh could never find out how he got to be this way or what the cause of it was. The reason that Routh claimed to have murdered Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield, was that “If I didn't kill them, they were going to get me”. Some doctors say that it was a delusion by Routh but other doctors and specialists don't have any proof that this is true and that he lied about the delusion. Chris Kyle and Routh’s mother were talking in the parking lot outside of the school she works at and Kyle’s kids attend.
On June 2004 Peterson went on trial. The prosecution said the reasons behind Peterson’s actions were due to the fact that he was having finical troubles and his affair with Amber Frey. The prosecution pointed out facts during the trial that they believed he killed his wife due to a great amount of debt as well as his desire to be single. The defense, however argued that there was no evidence to connect Scott Peterson to the murders of Laci and Conner.

The result of this was Amanda Knox committing a false confession in which she stated her boss (Diya Lumumba) killed Meredith

The local police wanted to charge someone in connection with the crime that was committed and they did not care who it was. They did not follow procedures nor come up with any evidence that was solid enough to convict them of the crime form the start. Everything was based on circumstance. All of the wittiness’ was sure that see those two boys committed the crime and that was the only evidence they needed for a trail to begin.
