Elie Wiesel wrote a book to leave a legacy. He wanted to leave a memory that is more than just a story passed down from generation to generation. He wrote the book “Night” to show a story of survival and a reminder of what hate can do to people. He begins his story describing his life in the concentration camp filled with murder and fear. Elie describes how he survived his horror using his faith in God and determination to live. The book “Night” follows a 15 year old boy’s nightmare surviving a life in the concentration camps. Elie Weisel said, “Where is merciful God, where He?” (Night, 1958, p 64) He begins that he lived in a small town named Sighet in Hungarian Transylvania.
