Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Mission Statement

Mary McLeod Bethune was born on July 10th, 1875 in Maysville, South Carolina. She was the only one of seventeen children to go to school. Bethune was an educator, author, civil rights activist leader, and an innovator, and she has had a great impact on the state of Florida. In 1904, Mary McLeod Bethune started a private school for African American students in Daytona Beach, Florida called Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls.

Mary McLeod Bethune Mary Jane McLeod was born July 10, 1875 in Mayesville, S.C. She was the 15th of 15 children. Her parent's names were Samuel and Pasty McLeod. They were former slaves.

What Significance Did Malcolm X Have On African Americans? “A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.” A famous quote written by a powerful person, Malcolm Little or also known as Malcolm X. Malcolm’s purpose on this earth was to influence African Americans to take effect on the injustice being served by American government. Prison took a big impact on the way of his thoughts of his beliefs which soon started to develop once becoming active in Nation of Islam. Malcolm became a big activist leader, who influenced many people which is why his name will forever live in history.

University of Tennessee Introduction According to the University of Tennessee’s mission statement, the university is to move forward the frontiers of human knowledge and enrich and evaluate the citizens of the state of Tennessee, the nation, and the world (2015). The University of Tennessee is research-based, land grant university found in Knoxville, Tennessee. Based on the Carnegie Classification, the University of Tennessee is a research university. Most undergraduates are full-time and transfer rates are low.

Behind Alpha Phi Among all of the discourses at Purdue University, Alpha Phi is one within itself. There are 18 sororities here at Purdue, and Alpha Phi is the discourse that I am in. Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 and continues to honor the sisterhood that was formed back then. There are ten founders who founded Alpha Phi at Syracuse University.

I wanted join Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. sense my sophomore year of college. I want to have the brotherhood to help me grow intellectually, socially and intellectually. All these things I want and support I have seen in various moment through my experience with the brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,

Why This Really is Our State 167 years after opening their doors the University of Mississippi continues to impact the state of Mississippi. Also known as Ole Miss, the University of Mississippi ranks highest in the state when it comes to being number one. With Ole Miss’s outstanding school history, present day changes, and future goals, there is no doubt that the University of Mississippi has and will continue to make an everlasting mark on the state of Mississippi. In 1848, Ole Miss was established.

I am writing this letter to express my interest in your illustrious organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I am currently a senior majoring in Criminal Justice, minoring in African American Studies with aspirations of becoming a Social Justice Attorney. Born in the inner city of New York and being raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, I am not your typical Southern Belle or City girl. I like to think of myself as being a fine mix of the two. At a young age my mother groomed me into what she believed a well-rounded lady should be.

The first notable member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated that really sticks out to me is Umzae George Washington Carver. He was initiated in the Gamma Chapter in the year of 1918. To begin I selected him, because he was a very familiar name. I remember learning about Umzae George Washington Carver in the elementary and middle school. With creating over 100 different uses for the peanut, soybean, and sweat potato he was a very prominent African American man in the 1920s.

“Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise, I rise, I rise.,” to become a Delta Woman. When asked to express why I should be awarded the honor & pleasure of being apart this great sorority; I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed but also very humbled. However, I am reminded of the great women Delta Sigma Theta has helped mold some of the most influential women in the world.  I want to be apart of the most illustrious sorority organization.

My intention is not to join this organization to step or because I like to party but, because I believe whole-heartedly in the values of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., scholarship, service, sisterhood and finer womanhood. I believe that through Zeta Phi Beta Inc. I will be able to fine tune my leadership skills, make lifelong friendships and help people on my journey as others did for me. It is my hope that this lifestyle will change my life for the better.

To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.

Throughout history there have been many influential Omega men. These men have gone out of their way to do extraordinary things that have changed the way we look at history. One of these men who caught my attention is named Melvin B. Tolson. He is known as one of the most significant African American poets of his time. He was born on February 6, 1898 in Moberly, Missouri.

Explain your interest in joining Phi Delta Epsilon-MA Alpha Chapter. * I want to join Phi Delta Epsilon because it would provide me the chance to build lifelong connections and gain networking opportunities. Most importantly, I see myself forming a bond with other members, studying and sharing memories of what it’s like to be a premedical student at UMass Boston. The ability to connect, strive for success and learning from others with the same goal to attend medical school is what I’m truly seeking as a hopeful applicant of PhiDE. Joining the fraternity is the beginning phase of my strenuous road to become a successful physician.

For the unity of brothers to give consent on actually taking part in the actions of being discreet for a large consumption of time is a true illustration of what it means to be Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. Discreet: careful and circumspect in one's speech or actions, especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage. The advantage we gain is brotherhood, loyalty, respect and love for another as we becomes brothers over time. I pledge to always to be my brothers’ keepers and to always remain loyal.
