Legalization of Marijuana, With or Against? There has always been a debate whether or not medicinal marijuana would prove to be better than the regular prescription drugs. Twenty three states in the US has already branded medicinal marijuana legal but due to society’s aggressive look down on marijuana it has always gotten mixed reviews on whether or not it should even be legalized to use. The big question is, should it be allowed to use marijuana for medicinal purposes? Looking at the history of the process of legalization of the medicinal drug in the U.S, there is much evidence to prove that marijuana is safe enough and should continue to be used for medicinal purposes. No one would or could tolerate an irrational drunk or high person acting up in public. It is the history of illogical idiocy in intoxicated people that has branded the public use of drugs as ‘under the influence’. So why should medicinal marijuana be any different and why should it be legalized? The answer lies in the question. Medicinal marijuana has been used as treatment for multiple diseases such as pain, seizures and even used as aid for sleeping disorders. As any other drug, the use of marijuana can prove to be addictive but then again there is a long list of other legal prescription drugs that has also proven to be even more addictive such as Xanax, Amphetamines and Codeine. If prescription drugs can cause harm and addiction imagine what the illegal products can do. So you see, medicinal marijuana should not be treated any different from other prescriptions drugs and be branded illegal if the only thing against it is the frowned view of society.
