Five members of the Carrollton FFA Chapter were selected to attend FFA Leadership Camp, July 26-29. Leadership camp is four days filled with learning, growing, building relationships, and a lot of excitement. The campers were separated into small groups with whom they spent the week with. As individual groups, they completed a challenge course, competed in “Ag olympics,” and participated in various activities to acquire new skills. Campers listened to speeches by keynote speakers, Kade Hill and Dr. David Mouser, which focused on paying attention and impacting others. Throughout the week they learned to work as a team, be an authentic leader, build character, communication, and to make a difference in our chapters and communities. Leadership
Being an FFA advisor allows teaching to travel outside of the classroom, and allows students to become even more involved in their community. Being an advisor also extends the involvement in FFA past high school, which impels one reason why many ag ed students
For the Leader Shadowing Case Study, I chose to shadow Dennis Riethman. Mr. Riethman resides in Coldwater, Ohio, where he lives with his wife. Mr. Riethman’s professional history starts back when he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriscience Education in 1979. He later went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Agriscience Education four years later in 1983. Right out of college, Mr. Riethman stepped into a teaching job as an Agriscience Instructor back in his hometown of Coldwater where he advised the Coldwater Tri-Star FFA Chapter.
Problem/Need: The FFA camp for our FFA district has been hosted for many years. Every year FFA students from our FFA district attend this camp. Its purpose is to help students establish leadership qualities and allows them to interact with new people. They have recently contacted FFA advisors from the district asking for donations for a new charcoal grill.
“What leadership qualities should a chapter officer possess and which of those do you have. How will it help make a positive difference in the lives of Long Valley FFA members?” In today 's world the leaders are everything, from the president to the high school ffa officers. It is important to that are leaders have good responsibility and know how to make good choices.
Kathryn Smith is making history by becoming the first full-time female coach in the NFL. Her passion for coaching began as a little girl, helping her father keep stats for her brother’s high school football team. She attended St. John’s University in Queens, New York, to study Sports Management. In 2003, she began her career in sports as a game-day/ special-events intern with the New York Jets. She also managed the college men’s basketball team and she became a college scouting intern and then a player assistant in 2007.
List the Leadership Development Events that you have participated in. Explain your experience, and how it has helped you grow as an FFA member. I have participated in Radio Broadcasting and learned that FFA could lead me to my goal of being a successful adult. My experience in Radio Broadcasting has shown me how dedication and persistence could lead me to success. Every day my team and I practiced and ultimately, went to the Area contest.
NSU Razor's Edge Leadership Program My heart began to race. I entered the spacious lecture hall, opened the door, and before me were two hundred students glancing at me. Entering the class for the first time at Florida International University (FIU) presented unparalleled opportunities on my forthcoming journey as a high school junior. When I enrolled at FIU as a dual enrollment student, I experienced uncertainty in regard to my intended major and career choice. I took courses across multiple disciplines, yet I remained remote from the ideas presented – until I met my professor for General Chemistry during my junior year.
Chris Hadfield once said that “Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts... It is about laying the groundwork for others' success, and then standing back and letting them shine.” Hadfield is stating in this quote that in order our leaders to be successful, they muse ensure our prosperity before their own. With this quote clearly effective leaders collaborate with their people to ensure they are successful and mindful. Collaborative leadership is the strongest way to lead because fear and power can sometimes create anarchy and dissent while respect and decency ultimately create a harmonious society.
I know that when a task needs to be done, it is best to take care of it as it appears, and not to let time be my solution to problems. I know that a team needs to work as a team, and in a team, everyone is only as good as the worst among them. I know that there is a deeper meaning to the word 'leader' than I previously thought; it is not someone that sets an example and simply teaches a specific set of techniques to their teammates; a leader is someone who helps others on their way to become better leaders, thinkers, and problem solvers themselves. And finally, I know that if there is anybody who sets their mind to a task and does not allow others to bring them down, they can accomplish what they need to in order to be successful. My very last marching season was my greatest challenge, and it tested my patience and willingness to take myself and others to new levels of achievement, and even though I have experienced a failure then, the lessons I learned from it will benefit me in the long run, when I run into the same kinds of situations and the same kinds of
Lessons that not all people can learn in the classroom. Things like leadership and teamwork. When you go through times of struggle with your team you learn things about yourself that help you grow mentally and physically. I learned to become a leader by sticking up for what I know is right and
In chapter team, Kelsey’s aptitude for leadership enabled her to assemble our team. Through her own initiative she sought out interested individuals and set the framework for a successful team. That team ended up winning 11th place at the national completion (out of over 80 teams. Kelsey’s natural drive remained unsatisfied. She rallied our team, encouraging us to study for the next year.
I attended the State FFA convention on April 11th, 2016 in Brookings, South Dakota. Here there was three sessions with different types of speakers each night. I decided to do my criticism assignment on John Linke a speaker on the second night. His speech was a retiring address from the position as Treasure of South Dakota FFA officer. His main goal was to motivate or persuade people to think about the little things they can do to keep their eyes on the big target.
The day I was team leader there was a lot going on and I felt like Tara and I kept everything under control very well and worked together. I was also proud of Becca and I noticing wheezing in lung sounds on a resident. 2.
Why do you want to be a Builder at next year’s Leadership Camp? I have attended LC for the past three years as a delegate, and in my final year of high school I want to contribute to the unique experience of camp as a Builder to give those in the younger grades the same amazing experience that I’ve had. I want to leave a lasting and positive impact that will inspire delegates to become future Builders, just as my past Builders have for me. I have learned a lot as a delegate, but I believe that I can learn even more as a Builder, and experience camp in a new
Reflecting on the course I will explore just some of the topics, tools, techniques and methods that had the most impact on my learning in relation to collaboration and the potentially impact the learning has had on my personal and professional awareness and my effectiveness as a leader.
