I strongly feel that Gatton Academy is the right place for me to finish high school. At my high school, I’ve struggled with lacking curriculum and instruction, with little to no challenge provided for me. Gatton Academy will be able to provide me with the tools and resources I need to excel to the best of my abilities. Not only will Gatton provide rigorous coursework, but it will help prepare me even more so for life as an adult. The extended freedoms that come with living away from home – on a college campus, no less – are something that many people would consider taking advantage of. But unlike many of my peers, I feel that I am mature enough to handle this, as I know this is an earned privilege, not just something to toss to the wind without any regard. I know that Gatton will provide a diverse, and supportive community of …show more content…
On my own, I’ve pursued learning about the Welsh language and culture. While this language may not prove itself particularly useful, I think that it’s very interesting. Along with Welsh, I have chosen Latin for my language credits in high school. I find that although being a dead language, Latin will most likely be able to benefit me in virtually any STEM field of my choice! I feel that my love for languages has allowed me to become a more effective communicator and speaker. Aside from the previous things, I feel that I possess the personality type to succeed and contribute at Gatton. Throughout my life, I’ve been able to demonstrate that I possess the drive and the dedication needed to get the job done. I’ve always been diligent and focused when it comes to academia though I’m able to chill out and crack jokes like any other teenager. Some people ask how I balance everything, but it’s been easy for me. I feel like my personality and skill set are perfectly suited to effectively contribute and excel within the Gatton
Furthermore, in an article made by Unigo, a online student college database that acquires more than 1.6 million student members, titled, “There's no place like home: in-state vs out-of-state colleges,” it is emphasized that, “Unfortunately, living at home (or close by) can also make it easier for you stay within your comfort zone, limiting your opportunities to meet new people and try new things” (Williams par. 3). In-state colleges

It is quite shocking for students in college to talk about their parents with no respect. Bell Hooks, a southern black girl from a working-class background in Kentucky, who has never rode on a city bus, or even an escalator, explains her feelings about going away for college in Keeping Close to Home: Class and Education. She took her first plane ride to Stanford University where she received her bachelor’s degree. She examines and challenges intertwined assumptions about race, class, and academia. She is credible in using ethos by giving her personal experience as an undergraduate at Stanford, and educational background about leaving home and how being underprivileged at a university where most people are privileged can cause one to think hard about the decision they have made.
I possess strong communication and time management skills.
"You all have a little bit of 'I want to save the world ' in you," Anonymous. A few weeks ago, I came across this quote and it has stuck with me since then, as I believe it perfectly encapsulates my desire to attend Gatton Academy. I undoubtedly have a little bit of "I want to save the world in me," but I think that in order to help save the world, I first need to learn more about our planet and its inhabitants. With the Academy 's study abroad opportunities, I could begin to explore the world and come to understand more of its variety and needs. To me, saving the world necessitates learning about math and science.
Starting a new life away from home can be difficult. Many young adults experience this every year when they decide to go away to college. It is obvious to say that around that age is when young adults start getting to know themselves, and start acquiring better understanding of what they want from life. I am currently going through my first year of college, I can relate to the new lifestyle I started having when I came to CSUCI, but I have also seen many things that has made me learn from other people’s experiences. I wrote a letter pretending to be a worried mother as my project number two for my English 102 class last semester.
I am also a very hard worker and always stay focused on the task at hand. I am known to be a great communicator because I always know just what to say at just the right time. It has been stated by my peers and my prior employer that my delightful attitude is uplifting to any
On top of all of my awe-inspiring personal qualities I also have the ambition to succeed in any given work environment. I thrive when learning new projects and ques! I started here at MultiPlan in 2014 as a NS Support rep and have been on Brandon 's team from day one! Co-workers and management have been very easy to work with and there is a lot of great freindships. Our team building skills are
Born and raised in Santa Barbra California, Peter Giovani Petatan have lived 21 years of his life in the U.S. along with his mother and father who were born and raised in Mexico. Although born and raised in California Peter and his family currently reside in Macon, GA. Now as a college student this has been the first time he has ever lived outside of home. Nevertheless, he feels as if he’s able to adapt to this new environment effortlessly in terms of the university and community.
My freshmen year at Indiana University was very much of a surprise for me personally. I learned several things about myself as an individual and what I want to do with my time at Indiana University. Bloomington is a buzzing college town that always has something going on. Most people associate Bloomington with Indiana University and never really look past that. My first few months on campus I never looked past the image of Bloomington as a college town but when I did it changed what I wanted to do with my time on campus.
I know there are many new staff recently but I hope my skill sets and maturity can prove my worthiness. I am very good at settling disputes, and ensuring both people/ groups walk away with a fair negotiation or justice. I can keep calm under angering and frustrating situations, and deal with the
In the podcast “Lower Income, Higher Ed” NPR reporter Cuvvy Perpaterson ( I believe that’s what she said) discussed the issues high school students in D.C. face while applying and attending University. Perpaterson describes her interaction with one teenager; Christopher. He is a first-generation college student. “Christopher grew up in one of the poorest parts of Washington, D.C. He and his mother went through frequent bouts of homelessness when he went to high school — often staying in shelters.”
I am always looking for a challenge and expect to excel each time. I have distinguished myself from my peers by taking on extra responsibilities
However, my demeanor may be a disadvantage if I were to be working with another population or in a different setting. For example, I do not think be successful in jobs at prisons or alternative schools because I may have to be more serious and assertive with my clients. Throughout my life, education has always been one of the most important aspects of my life and I believe my academic achievements demonstrate this. Over the past three years in college, I have maintained over a 3.9 GPA and put much effort into excelling in classes from various departments across campus, but particularly within the
