Introduction : Ice cream! We all love it, but do you know the thermodynamics behind it? Thermodynamics is the physical science that deals with the relations between heat and other forms of energy. Other forms of energy such as: mechanical, electrical, or chemical. We are completing this research project to understand how our favorite past time treat can have a more scientific background and how heat flows from a warmer object to a cooler object. As aforementioned thermodynamics deals with a lot of forms of energy, so in this case we would be using chemical. The goal of this project is to observe the thermodynamic process whi8ch will ultimately lead to the creation of ice cream. In this group assignment we are conducted to test how thermodynamic …show more content…
Using raspberry flavor of course. A survey on what type of ice cream out classmates/peers prefer the most is what would be done after the ice creams are made. Since it’s hard to actually make ice cream from scratch of from the plant itself, we’re going to use the flavor and some of the actual fruit. The survey would include the taste of both ice creams (is it sweet, salty, sour, savory, etc) and the texture (is it thick or soft). These are the things that be compared amongst our …show more content…
Methodology Research Design II. Sampling (Information about your survey) We know how ice cream is supposed to taste, feel, etc so that would obviously be tested. We are choosing different grade levels so we can see if the ice cream itself does affect how old you are and how often you eat ice cream. Instrument #1 There wouldn’t be any instruments used in this project. This project is only using a survey and wouldn’t take much days to actually conduct the experiment. Data Collection and Analysis Procedures The survey would be done in homeroom 118. There is a mixture of 9th graders, 10th graders, Year 1’s and Year 2’s. We would collect the surveys and analyze it and see the difference between everyone’s opinion and the similarities as well. From this, we would see if thermodynamic ice cream is any different from regular ice cream and the science behind ice cream itself. Protection of Human Rights We would make sure the ice cream is edible of course and see if anyone is allergic to raspberry. If anyone in homeroom 118 is allergic to the fruit/ice cream, we would ask someone who isn’t to take the
METHOD: The following procedure was taken from the 2017 Millsaps College lab manual.1 The experiment was split into two parts, part A and part B. Part A was to find the heat capacity while part B determined the specific heat of an unknown metal. This was the final goal of the lab. To start, a temperature probe had to be connected to a LabQuest2 data collection device. 100.0 mL of deionized had to be added into a Styrofoam cup.
The study will have an experimental design involving groups of three people, two of which will be told beforehand about what the experiment will be about. Subjects will be analyzed in a classroom setting where familiar people will interact with them. This will help subjects feel more comfortable and allow us to observe whether or not they fall into peer pressure when under their element. The comparing value will be their age and grade. The dependent variable will be how well the subject can follow instructions.
With rows that reflect the ideal conditions, interns could pay more attention to them and gather berries that grow within that area. In order for them to avoid inaccurate results, intern could also try to concentrate on a specific area within the vineyard and fix the number of berries that would be collected by them eg. collect 3 berries from each bunch (from the top, middle and end of bunch) (Dami, 2014, p.3). This will allow them to improve the process as the berries are statistically relevant.
Ramifications of chasing traditional rewards in, “How Not to Get into College”, “Somnambulist”, and “Iced- Cream” Albert Einstein once said, “Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value”. Implying that people tend to get blinded in the hunt of personal triumph in their lives that they forget what really is important to them. Similarly, in Alfie Kohn’s How “Not to Get into College”, Daniel Barwick’s “The So Called Iced Cream” and Heron Jones’s “Somnambulist”, the authors develop the message that, people assume that chasing external rewards equals joy and satisfaction in their lives.
Vanilla and sugar were costly, and access to ice was constrained. To serve the pastry year-round, Jefferson fabricated himself an icehouse, refrigerated with wagonloads of ice gathered from the close-by Rivanna River. Still, even with every one of the methods and materials, the street to delivering frozen yogurt was rough. As culinary historian specialist Mark McWilliams clarifies in The Story Behind the Dish, making a scoop was arduous.
The two main ice cream flavors are vanilla and chocolate. Oftentimes when you ask someone which they like better, they have a definite answer. Most people feel very strongly about which flavor is better and will argue with others about it. This is very similar to how political parties were in the United States. They were very controversial and caused lots of arguing and disagreement.
c. What is the research question or hypothesis? a. My hypothesis is that children who are exposed or given the opportunity to use these devices or are exposed to these devices at a young age will have or obtain more knowledge than a child who are not. d. What sort of research design are you proposing? (e.g. correlational, descriptive observational, experimental, etc.)
In the “So Called Iced Cream” by Daniel Barwick and How Not to Get Into College: The Preoccupation with Preparation” by Alfie Kohn people believe extrinsic rewards will bring happiness and reduced stress into their lives, yet they ultimately end up filled with regret, and grief for everything they have sacrificed in the process of reaching their goal. Firstly, in “Enjoying the so called ‘Iced- Cream’” Monty Burns is depressed with his life despite having all the riches money can buy; similarly, in Kohn’s essay, students sacrifice their happiness and well-being in the process of gaining admission into top-tier universities. For instance, the narrator writes, “How could it be that Mr. Bums is unhappy? He has his own Xanadu, a nuclear power

Evidenced by both Nestlé and the beer industry that spent intensively in advertising, the former is catching up Ice-Fili’s market share while the latter is currently enjoying increasing market demand. Thus, it is feasible for Ice-Fili to invest massively in advertising through TV or packaging to position itself as a historical Russian brand that produce ice cream made of high quality natural ingredients. This could differentiate itself from regional producers that have low

Danny Cohen Mr. Ramlow 10 Honors English May 9 2015 “The Emperor Of Ice-Cream’’ While the subject of ice-cream in the esteemed poet Wallace Stevens’ poem “The Emperor of Ice-Cream’’ may invoke jovial, childhood memories of happy summers and family, explicating his poetry proves to be just the opposite, in its being an arduous task that baffled literary critics for decades after his poems were released. Also ironically, Stevens, who for most of his life was a lawyer in the dull, cold Hartford, Connecticut wrote primarily about “balmy climates and tropical fruit,” according to poetry critic Austin Allen. Stevens’ poems typically focus on abstract parts of life that prove difficult to understand at first, but after some effort usually have great
PORTER’S ANALYSIS New Entrants: In general, there are few barriers to entry in the smoothie industry, which would make this force very strong. • Economies of Scale: There are no considerable decreases in average costs as output increases. Smoothies are generally high margin products, which means that new companies could be profitable without having to sell too many products. • Capital Requirements: In the smoothie industry, there are few fixed assets that would need to be purchased in order to operate.
