Officially, she is the second woman to hold the title of governor in the state of Texas. However, Dorothy Ann Willis Richards is regarded by many as the first woman who earn the election for Texas's top office of governor. Thanks to many years of volunteering in numerous gubernatorial campaigns, because she was the first woman to become Travis County commissioner twice, and since she was also the first woman to serve as state treasurer, the 45th Governor of Texas earned her title. For these reasons and many more, Ann Richardson, as she was better known, won the race 1990 gubernatorial race against Clayton Williams, fair and square. Unlike former governor Miriam "Ma" Ferguson, who is often disregarded as the stand in for impeached governor James "Pa" Ferguson, Mrs. Richardson dedicated many years of her life to the local and state government, prior to her race for governor (Brandeis University).

Mary Jane Patterson Mary Jane Patterson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her parents brought and their family to Oberlin, Ohio to find an education for their children. In 1835, Oberlin College admitted its first black student and eventually became the country’s first coed institution of higher education. It was also the first college in the country to grant women undergraduate degrees. Mary Jane Patterson studied for a year in the college’s Prepatory Department and she was the first African-American women to earn a Bachelor’s degree.

Harriet A Jacobs was born into slavery by the parents of Elijah and Delilah jacobs February 11, 1813.Harriet grew up in Edenton NC,at a very young age she was being traded back and forward following the death of her mother which lead her to become sad and alone only as a child. Harriet was a slave of former masters of Margaret horniblow,Daniel Jacobs,and Andrew Knox. Later on Harriet escaped from slavery and was later freed,she became a abolitionist speaker and reformer. Jane Addams was a remarkable woman in American history. She was born in Cedarville, Illinois on September 6, 1860 and died on May 21, 1935. She is an extraordinary woman in history because she established one of the very first settlements in the United States known as the Hull House in Chicago, Illinois in 1889 and was recognized worldwide in the first part of the twentieth century for being a pioneer social worker, and internationalist, as well as a feminist. Jane’s full name is Laura Jane Addams and she was born as the eighth sibling out of nine children. Her father was an affluent miller, businessman, and a prosperous state senator; he had several important friends.

During the time of the salem witch trials and the late 1980’s-1990’s during baseball's Steroid Era were two different things, but they also had one thing in common the hysteria that was brought by both of these. Anthony was a prominent feminist author who started the movement of women’s suffrage and she was also the president of the National American Women Suffrage Association. Anthony was in favor of abolitionism as she was a fierce activist in the anti-slavery movement before the civil war. Susan Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts, and before becoming a famous feminist figure, she worked as a teacher. Anthony grew up in a Quaker family that made her spend her time working on social causes. And her father was an owner of a local cotton mill.
