5 years ago, one fresh midnight, arrived to a new place in Atlanta Georgia that our life forever changed. There were plenty of cars, trees, and building. It is fairly cold and the wind is blowing like the tree arms dance. Many lights that can be seen shine through the windows of buildings at night time. It quiet outside. Find a place inside where there’s happiness, and the enjoyment will burn out of the soreness. Close the gate to the past, open the gate to the future, and step through a new life. It’s a new chance to rebuild a life, better choices. Nothing is impossible. Wipes away tears. Let go of the past. Look around a place with confident. It went through the inside of the house. Everything has changed. The smell is strange. A place for
Time. 10:19 p.m. South Florida. The traffic light rests at red for an eternity, mocking me with its condescending gaze. I quickly turned my head both directions, not a car in sight for what it seemed to be miles.
Alabama Trip My mom and and dad told me in December that we were going to Gulf Shores, Alabama to visit my grandparents. Gulf Shores is the southernmost town in Alabama, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I have been there twice when I was little. I remember that I collected seashells and went swimming with Boppa in the pool.
In summary, on 09/21/15 at 0418 hours I was patrolling the area of 1600 S. Laramie Ave., at which time I observed a male subject with a youthful appearance walking northbound 16th Street. I made contact with the subject, at which time he identified himself as (Rosas, Alexis DOB 04/21/97). While speaking with Rosas, I detected a strong odor of fresh cannabis emanating from his person. Rosas related he had some cannabis in his sweater pocket. I recovered a silver box containing a green leafy substance from Rosas ' right sweater pocket.
The night was cold and with every gust of wind someone shivered. The stars were bright enough to light up the night even without the bright full moon in the sky. I was standing in my normal spot in a short alleyway with a line of five
My move from my home state of Maryland to Georgia has greatly influenced my goals and perspectives. When I lived in the city area of Maryland, I had a limited viewpoint of life as a person who knew only of the city and had relaxed belief of living only within my comfort zone of what a city had to offer, however that changed when I moved to Georgia. Georgia proved itself to be a very different experience for me. Georgia is a lot bigger than Maryland so there was more place for its cities to be more spread apart and the environment had a more forestry background than what I knew at the young age. The change of setting and accustoms associated from the very different places made me realize that depending on a person’s position one object can be
I had no idea about what I was going to find in Little Rock. First of all, I have been enjoying my groups company, I feel that we’re more close and united after that trip. Therefore, I liked a lot traveling there with them and I also adored the highway. It’s wonderful to admire nature while you are on the road, it reminded me some speedways in Mexico. For me, one of the most interesting places there was High Central.
Growing up in a family where my mom was a doctor and my dad was a musician, I was exposed to a lots of things in my life. For example I was able to see Broadway plays and and go on family trips to Disney every year in the winter. A lot of people would say I was very fortunate to be one of the family where I knew both my parents and they did there best to give me a lot of life experiences. But me being an African-American male it seems like I not supposed to how do experiences, I was supposed to not know my father not to be able to go on these trips with my family.
Change is something the whole world goes through at one point or another in their lives, but what’s vital is what we chose to do with that change. It was the summer of 2005, the weather outside was as heavy as an anvil, nevertheless this was the norm in south Florida. My childhood was one to reminisce. Life was perfect, but that all altered when my parents said we were moving to Atlanta Georgia. Things weren’t as easy as I thought they would be, but my biggest reason was my school
My girlfriend works in a clinic in Atlantic City that provides health care and social services to people with no insurance or have limited means of support. There are more places in Atlantic City that provide free health care, food, shelter, addiction and social services than anywhere within a days ride of the city. People drift down here from all over of the state, even outside of New Jersey, for a cot and a meal. After its decline in the 1950s, the city has attracted alcoholics, people with mental health issues, and those just down on their luck. Maybe it was the ocean and faded glamor of the city 's boardwalk and hotels, or the abundance of cheap housing and corner taprooms.
Growing up in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, I have been surrounded by ‘black success’ instead of just ‘success’ for the duration of my life. The blacks in my area are equally as successful, if not more accomplished than, the non-blacks, but we are always titled separately and put into a captive box. The box we are held in told young girls that they should aspire to be athletes, cosmetologists, or plain unemployed. The same box told young men that they could only be considered “somebody” if they were able to catch a ball well. These are occupations we would ‘best be suited for’; these are occupations that perpetuate the box.
There is such a place called Nashville in the state of Georgia! If I am not mistaken, there is a Nashville in every Southern state in honor of the Revolutionary War hero General Francis Nash . He was a native Virginian reared in North Carolina, who through his military service brought notoriety to the Nash name. If I am wrong about there being a Nashville in each Southern state, I know of at least two, my hometown, and some other place where they sing country music or something.
I'm exploring various areas for retirement, which presently includes Raleigh/Durham, and possibly Asheville, for visits up to six months of the year. Hopefully, I will be lucky to meet acquaintances who are similar in age who are willing to connect without the need for a rushed relationship. I would like to settle down but I am realistic and will admit that I am careful. I am hopeful for a mature commitment in the future. An important aspect is flexibility as my lifestyle involves travel, which is unavoidable.
Growing up my mother told me stories about how the world used to be different. The people were good the world was good. Earth apparently was this wonderful place with beautiful cities, where the buildings were made of glass and looked as if they were part of the sky. The countryside had rolling hills and forest filled with all different colors of greens and the most beautiful animals, but the world has changed and that’s not the world I've come to know. Mother had cities made of glass I have cities of rubble and abound building all a faint memory of what used to be.
As I approach the house, I smell the old musty smell of the house. When I step on the front steps of the house, I hear a creak from underneath the floorboards. With every step, it seems like the creaking gets louder. I rap my hands around the dusty door handle and slowly pull open the unlocked door. The inside looks like what you’d expect.
You must not pity and bury yourself in what hurt you in fear of facing those challenges again. Overcoming obstacles only benefits and teaches you what you deserve. How you want to live your life and applying what you want to yourself can help you be the best version of yourself. Once you find your peace, some steps can be taken to keep your inner balance.
