It is unquestionable that not everyone is fit to be a parent. If a mother was forced to be a parent when she was unwilling or unsuitable, neither she nor the child would benefit. Both the child and the mother would suffer from an underprivileged life with all the hardships that come with it, and it all could have been avoided with an abortion. It is apparent that not everyone agrees with that seemingly cruel idea in society, but what is more cruel: making the decision to not have a child in a current point of time to increase the chances of being a more suitable parent in the future, or having a child and raising them in the poorest quality of parenting possible because no one was ready to become a family? Without abortions, there would be mothers who are unfit, unable, or who were raped raising an unwanted baby, and none of those candidates make for good mothers. Mothers who apply for an abortion once they find out they are pregnant …show more content…
Sometimes certain situations can be out of their hands. The child growing inside of a soon-to-be mother could be the result of a horrifying rape, and there was nothing anyone could do. Being raped is, quite often, unpreventable, and the side-effects of such an event can be physically and emotionally catastrophic. These mothers, if emotionally wrecked enough, should have the decision to let go of their trauma, even if the first step is the abortion of an attacker’s child. Why should someone have to live nine months with the reminder of what had happened to them, or more if they must keep the child? After the birth, the mother could resent her unwanted child and abuse them mentally or physically. The effects of that very torment would be with the child long into their adulthood. The mother has no idea how much pain and suffering she could have saved herself or her child if she would have had an abortion, and became a mother when she was
If so, it leads to what's call P.A.S.S Post Abortion Stress Syndrome. According to www.afterabortion.com why abortion in America has become a social problem “P.A.S.S. Is a type of Post traumatic stress disorder which develops when a woman is unable to work through her emotional responses resulting from the trauma of an abortion. Abortion has turned into something that women are being coerced into from boyfriends/husbands unwilling to be fathers, out of fear of the financial pressure, out of panic from losing their jobs, out of panic from having to quit school, or become homeless, or out of fear of their parents kicking them out into the street.an abortion. P.A.S.S. can have many serious side effects, ranging from depression to eating disorders, to as severe as suicide. There are women who abort and do so completely of their own free will.
In fact “...during the 1960s and 1970s in the United States, many states became more liberal in their abortion laws, allowing abortion for health reasons, or rape and incest”(2016). It is so looked down upon for women to have abortions, but yet sometimes it is not a choice. For example, women who are diagnosed with fatal diseases or disorders such as cancer, before or after conceiving, may need to undergo treatments such as chemotherapy, which is lethal for the developing child. Some may simply be too unhealthy to carry to term or deliver without serious risk to their own life. Obviously, each case differs in complexity and has a range of reasons explaining why abortion seemed the best choice.
You don't have to have an abortion because you don't want to take care of the kid. I don't know what if feels like to be pregnant and being scared out of my mind. I hope i never have to go through that. I don't see abortion something this country has to fight about. The people that are doing it are the ones that have to go through the pain and guilt.
Instead of having an abortion, women can choose a more beneficial option, such as giving the baby up for adoption. When women decide to get an abortion, they don’t think about adoption because of the long process, even though it can help other families who can’t have children. For example “It’s logical that anti-abortion organizations seeking to prevent abortions and promote traditional family structures would aggressively promote adoption, but this connection is often overlooked…”(Joyce). Many women that get pregnant with an unwanted child usually look into having an abortion first rather than going through the long process of pregnancy and giving the baby up for adoption. Furthermore, “In President Obama 's speech… he suggested that one solution to lowering abortion rates is making abortion more available”(Joyce).
While some women are dealing with timing situations similar to this one, others need abortions because of health reasons either theirs or the child's. Abortions are often seeked out when a woman becomes pregnant as a result of incest, rape, the fetus has severe disorders that can be life threatening or nonfatal, or the mother's life is at risk if the pregnancy is followed through
According to a 1987 survey, the two most prominent reasons for women having an abortion are that the mother doesn't feel ready to take on the responsibility of a baby and that the parents cannot afford a baby at the moment, both being ranked at twenty-one percent on the survey. Sixteen percent of the mothers are concerned about how having a baby would transform their social lives. Twelve percent have problems with their relationship(s) or they do not want to turn out to be a single mother. Next in line, at eleven percent, the mothers feel that they are too young or too immature to raise a child alone without outside help from another person.
Health complications, marital problems, age and the worst is the lack of a sense of responsibility. For whatever reason it may be, it only justified that women must be liable of her life and her body. Abortion has caused several deaths and violent confrontations. Despite of what people believe in, it is
Therefore, day after another number of the children who are the product of rape is growing. Even though governments and laws are established to provide a good and equal right to everyone, they are not doing their jobs as it is expected. For example, almost everywhere there are laws against the ones who commit rape, but a lot of the courtiers do not have any law which serves women in these cases. When a woman is raped, putting the criminal into prison does not solve the problems that the woman have after the nightmare that she has gone through. As of this governments should establish some laws which help those women to recover, and one of the most fundamental demands that these women have is making abortion legal.
Like the little girl in the introduction who got raped and was forced to give birth, meanwhile she only was 13 years old herself. A child forced to give birth to a child and take care of it, because she is the mother. A study from the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health shows that the rape-related pregnancy rate in the US is 5.0% per rape among victims aged from 12 to 45. In the US only there are an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. These raped girls are too young to have a child and the women don’t want a child with someone who did them so much harm.
Or what good will it do the world, to give birth to kids that may end-up being criminals and convicts just because if anyone aborts they will be punished. So, sometimes abortion may be the only way-out when there is an abrupt downturn in a particular family’s financial stance. Again whoever or whichever state still holds the opinion that abortion should be criminalized must be ready to provide for the complete upkeep of the baby if the parents are incapacitated. In short, if it is not a duty or obligation, in the first place, to want a child, then it shouldn’t be a crime, if one does want one any
There are multiple reasons women may want an abortion. The pregnancy could be unexpected by the parents, the mother cannot afford it or the pregnancy was a result of sexual assault. For these situations and many others, abortion is viewed as the fast, painless and simple solution to the ‘problem’. Abortion is the opposite of the easy way out.
A five year study was conducted to show that twenty five percent of the women who had chosen abortion were later patients in psychiatric care compared to the other three percent of women who had not chosen abortion(Family And Life-capitalized?). Mental disorders also can become an issue if the mother had emotional complications previously. A very popular argument is when the mother’s life is at serious risk. In this case the doctors still affirm that there are no medical circumstances that justify an
“For whatever personal reasons, some women do not wish to be forced to go through pregnancies or bring other children into an overcrowded world”. The unwanted pregnancy has a lot to do with all the decisions we make when we're in this position. This is main problem of what the whole “ abortion” decision. There’s two most ideal decisiones that a women can make when they are passing from an unwanted
Parenthood, abortion or adoption are all equally viable, legal (in most locations) and valid choices, any of which may be the best choice for someone at a given time, and no one of those choices is any simpler or easier to make than another. While women of every social class seek terminations, the typical woman who ends her pregnancy is either young, white, unmarried, poor, or over the age of
Rape- related pregnancy occurs with significant frequency throughout the many years. According to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, among adult women alone, an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. And out of those pregnancies, 50 percent underwent abortion.(Am J Obstet 1996) Abortion has swept a debate on whether or not it should be legalized since Roe v. Wade legalized it back in 1973. The question still lies on whether it should remain as a Fundamental Right or if it should be banned as act of committing murder.
