Night is a memoir narrated by Elie Wiesel, a boy raised in Sighet, in Hungarian Transylvania. The story takes place in pre-WWII, just before the Jews were sent to concentration camps. As a teenager, Elie was very religious and curious about the cabbala so Moché, a poor local pauper. An order is later given that all foreign Jews were to be deported including Moché. Several months later, he escapes from his captors and returns to Sighet to give news that the Jews were actually being killed, but no one believed him; he was viewed as a lunatic.

The book starts in 1941. Elie is a young kid who loves studying Judaism. He reads the Talmud a lot. He studies with this dude named Moshe Beadle. Moshe is a handyman who digs religion.

In Night, written by Elie Wiesel, the hanging of the little Dutchman pipel in chapter 4 symbolizes the death of faith in religion among Elie and other Jews who witnessed the act. In the plot, the young pipel was killed mercilessly by SS officers. During his execution, carried out alongside two other inmates, all found to be in possession of arms, onlookers were desperate for God to offer his supreme help. “Where is merciful God, where is He?” (64) and “For God’s sake, where is God?”

This section did not have hope in it unlike the past section. However, I was able to get more of a perspective of how activities ran in Auschwitz and all the other camps intermingled within it. I found that the section had only a few parts that were disturbing, but for the most part, I find that the author of the book is increasingly likeable. Although he has guilt for some of his orders, it is a significant contrast from the guards in charge whom do not care about any prisoner. What I found to be very reprimandable is when Nyiszli gave the female prisoners medicine to take back to their shacks.

Chapter One: Introduction During the English Civil War, in the 1640s, the Earl of Clarendon came up with a novel wheeze: rather than allow those presumed to be parliamentarian enemies to claim the benefit of the rule of law, he would establish a prison on an island off the British shoreline. That way, he reasoned, they could be safely forgotten, buried along with their legal rights. When parliament later looked back on this dark chapter of British history, they passed the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679 to ensure that never again would an unpopular group of people be denied justice. Clarendon was impeached by the House of Commons and fled to France, where he died in exile.

In chapter five of the Holocaust memoir Night, by Elie Wiesel, Elie’s relationship with his father grew stronger while his relationship with his God became weaker. After being faced with the horrors in the concentration camp, Elie’s belief in an intangible God is replaced by the immediate urge to tend to his father’s needs. The love shared between them is the only drive he has to stay alive. Due to these circumstances, Elie slowly begins to lose hope in the god he once adored, but gains an inseperable bond with his father.

It is set during the Holocaust and tells the story of a young boy named Elie Wiesel who was taken with his family from their home in Sighet, a small town in Transylvania to a concentration camp. The book covers the horrific experiences of the author and his family as they are subjected to unimaginable suffering including starvation, torture, and madness. Elie Wiesel narrates the account himself with brutal honesty, taking his readers through the darkest moments of his life with vivid descriptions.

Literary Analysis The Holocaust was a time in history, which affected many people and events and still does today. It is the hope that we will learn from what occured by reading the literature generated by survivors and family members. In the book Night by Elie wiesel, the reader learns several life lessons from the horror and triumph of those who lived through this time, which are shown in stories, essays, and personal accounts. The lesson which is most predominant in the book is Apostasy.

In the memoir,night,by elie wiesel he recounts the horrors that occurred during the holocaust. In the first chapter elie wanted to be really big on religion with him and his religion teacher and during this time mooshie the teacher was taken to the camps and he faked his death and what he saw terrorized him for life. What Mooshie saw was the Germans and people that worked for hitler were using baby jews as target practice.and whenever mooshie came back he tried to tell the other jews of what he had saw and they thought that he was lying so they didnt do anything about what he had said so then later that night. Hitler Came with the germans and they put them on an cattle cart.

After reading more of Elie Wiesel’s haunting life story, he describes the horrendous things he witnessed while in the concentration camp and, how the prisoners were treated in the most gruesome ways. When they first get to Auschwitz, the Jews are given a number then doctors use needles to brand it onto each captive’s forearm. From then on the prisoners were not known by name but, by their number. This was just one of the degrading things that the Jews were forced to endure. Another hardship they faced was the verbal and physical abuse not only from the guards but, from the other prisoners as well.

During World War ll, a very well known man, Adolf Hitler, chose to kill himself when he was put in crisis, leaving his country in ruins, as well as revealing that he was very much selfish, cowardly, and scared. As shown in the novel Night written by Elie Wiesel, during the Jewish Holocaust, when put in testing situations, many people act poorly towards the Jews, and the Jews show hatred towards the Germans. Also, in the short story ¨The in Group¨ by Eve Shale, a young girl by the name of Eve chooses between popularity and rightfulness. In both Night and ¨The in Group¨ it is demonstrated that crisis brings out the worst in people, because challenging situations put more pressure on people, resulting in poorer choices, and crisis additionally causes people to show selfishness.

Wiesel compared his mother's face to a mask in order to depict how she was petrified that all of this was happening. Surprisingly his father was crying and yet his mother was the one showing barely any emotion. His mother knew what to expect, their horror has just begun and she is all ready changed. A mask is a covering for the face that one may use to hide or disease themselves. Wiesel’s mother was trying to be strong for her children, despite of the circumstances.

Elie Wiesel’s “Night” depicts death, obliteration, and anguish while directly depicting the suffering he witnessed during his time at Auschwitz, a concentration camp for Jews during World War II. Within the story, there is an overwhelming amount of times the Jews had been in distress. Many children had been separated from their parents and all of the Jews were taken from their homes. Their suffering seemed endless. They were no longer teachers, homeowners, or priests.

To find a man who has not experienced suffering is impossible; to have man without hardship is equally unfeasible. Such trials are a part of life and assert that one is alive by shaping one’s character. In the autobiographical memoir Night by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, this molding is depicted through Elie’s transformation concerning his identity, faith, and perspective. As a young boy, Elie and his fellow neighbors of Sighet, Romania were sent to Auschwitz, a macabre concentration camp with the sole motive of torturing and killing Jews like himself. There, Elie experiences unimaginable suffering, and upon liberation a year later, leaves as a transformed person.
