Everything seems to fall into place when the prime suspect of a murder is the ex-boyfriend, but how can he be charged when evidence proves otherwise. On January 13th, 1999 Hae Min Lee was found murdered and buried in a forest, Leakin Park. Hae could have been murdered by many people, but the jury settled on the killer being Hae’s ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed. Adnan Syed should not have been found guilty under the circumstances of, the motive, unreliable cell phone tower evidence, Asia Mcclain evidence, life after the break up, and Jay’s inconsistencies; therefore he was wrongfully convicted and is innocent. The young couple seemed perfect from the beginning, and no one could ever find a flaw; the reasoning for this murder does not show anything …show more content…
In Sarah Koenig’s view, “Was he so hurt that he decided to kill her?” This is talked about a lot asking how hurt Adnan would have been to kill Hae. Young couples often go through breakups, but this one lead to the death of the girlfriend. Obviously Adnan felt hurt and so was his pride, but according to Adnan and their friends they loved each other. It does not make sense that he would hurt this girl that he loved. Everyone that knew Adnan told Sarah Koenig that he was not the type of guy to hurt anyone, he was seen as the “golden child” and people could not possibly believe that he was capable any wrongdoing. Moreover, the young couple had many secrets which probably caused tension between them. A few days before Hae Min Lee’s disappearance Adnan purchased a cell phone. This cell phone would play a big part in this mystery because the evidence used from this phone is not …show more content…
According to Asia Mcclain she was there that January inside the library around 2:30pm after school and she clearly recalled seeing and speaking to Adnan Syed, “Because I was never questioned. I was never informed of anything pertaining to the case.” Evidence was a big key to this investigation against Adnan Syed but when investigators had evidence from Asia they did not use it in the trial. In Asia’s view she remembered specific evidence that could have benefited Adnan and she would never testify because nobody contacted her. This evidence supports my claim because if Adnan Syed was really at the library and Asia Mcclain really saw him at the library then investigators interfered with the possibility of having Asia testify for the jury. If Asia had testified for Adnan he would have had a fair chance of being innocent as much as he did being guilty. The second piece of evidence is the affidavit that Asia Mcclain wrote for the court stating that she was there at the library and did see Adnan at the library. Even when the plain proof was right in front of investigators they failed the chance of Adnan Syed’s
This Reveals Syed Wrong actions as it connects with the timeline of the calls given by the AT&T records and thus proving Adnan Syed being responsible because the whole story is adding up and connecting to wilds story. Likewise, the testimonies of witnesses proves Syed to be guilty as charged, as it adds up to create a story that proves him as a criminal. In the crime scene 4 witnesses are interviewed or info is obtained from them. According to wilds, Pusateri and vinson, “Wilds contacted Pusateri and asked her to pick him up at the Westview Mall… then he told her that Syed killed Lee that afternoon and placed her in the trunk of her car… he returned to Vinson’s house for the rest of the evening... Vinson testified that Syed and Wilds stopped by her apartment around 6 pm” and According to McClain, McClain had written Syed a letter… reminding him that she … had seen him at the Woodlawn Public Library… before 3 p.m. on January 13.
Out of all of the witnesses and all of the facts, the only hard evidence the prosecution had was Jay Wilds’ testimony and Adnan’s own cell phone records. Without the records, the jury must simply decide who is more credible- Jay or Asia. In fact, in a 2015 interview with The Intercept, prosecutor Kevin Urick admits that either Jay’s testimony or the cell phone evidence by itself would not be enough to prove Adnan’s guilt. Therefore, the state needs both of them to put Adnan away. But honestly, the state has neither comfortably.
If a person murders someone and thinks they are guilty, why would there be so much evidence proving the opposite? Adnan Syed is guilty of Hae’s murder. On January 13, 1999 Hae Min Lee, a popular high school senior, disappeared and was found dead. Six weeks later, Adnan Syed, Hae’s ex-boyfriend, was found guilty of her murder. He claims to be innocent but there is evidence to prove that he was guilty.
Is Adnan innocent or guilty? The case of Hae Min Lee disappearing struck everyone. It was an ordinary day until Hae’s cousin’s family noticed she didn't pick her little cousin up. Adnan Syed, an ex-boyfriend of Hae’s, and Jay Wilds, the witness that testified against Adnan in court, are two suspects that could have murdered Hae. Sarah Keonig, an investigator from the Serial Podcast, is curious about what really occurred and reopened the case practically seventeen years later.
there is a lot of parts where they said that Adnan Syed is innocent, For example Because if he was in the library that equals innocent ,Asia says he’s innocent, i would says he’s innocent. “ Saad Chaudry thinks Adnan is innocent”. A lot of people made him look innocent which of course I believe he’s innocent. (S1.ep1.pg27.), (S1. ep6 .pg 108.)
Adnan Syed is innocent. He did not murder Hae Min Lee. The reasons Adnan was wrongly convicted is: Adnan has consistently maintained innocence, Jay’s story is in consistent, the call tracking isn’t reliable, the Asia affidavit proves otherwise, post mortem results of Hae’s body debunked the states story, and people who knew Adnan and Hae said the break up wasn’t messy. In summary, Adnan is innocent. Adnan had been in captivity for almost 15 years.
Syed’s friend Jay Wilds has been put on the spot countless times and failed to tell the same story each time he was questioned (Chaudry). Knowing there is additional evidence to go with this case, these points provided the most beneficial information on Syed’s case. In conclusion, there may have been weak evidence and evidence to help set him free, but Adnan Syed is not guilty. Gutierrez -Syed
If you were charged for a murder you did not commit, what would you do? Adnan Syed was sentenced to prison after he was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. But there are a few small details that make significant complications within the case. Though many of these details cannot be fully proved nor entirely refuted, they could have been the reason for Adnan's rightful freedom. Today, he is incarcerated in a Baltimore prison awaiting appeal.
Jay didn't mention this during his trial but he told Sarah that him and Adnan went to smoke weed that day. This was a big deal for both of them because how did Jay remember all of what Adnan did but yet he still lies about where he was. This shows me that Adnan Syed is not guilty because although Jay has his alibis and Adnan has his, Jay’s alibi Jenn was covering up for.him. She hid a lot of information from the police that could have possibly proved Adnan’s innocence
If thats is the case then how is Adnan guilty? How did they get enough evidence to actually prove that Adnan is guilty? It doesn’t make any sense. People remember some of it but not all of it.
Asia’s story shows that Adnan was not around Hae at the time of her murder. According to Asia, Adnan was in the library around 2:30 – the same time Hae was murdered- proving that Adnan was wrongfully convicted. Furthermore, Asia wrote Adnan a note which states “I’m not sure if you remember talking to me in the library on January 13th, but I remembered chatting with you. Throughout your actions that day I have a reason to believe in your innocence” (https://serialpodcast.org/season-one/1/the-alibi0). This restates my claim that Adnan being in wrongfully convicted based on Asia’s testimony.
Another convincing reason for believing Adnan’s guilty is there was another victim involved in the murder, Jay. It all starts when Adnan left school to go to Jay’s house to see if he had gotten a present for his girlfriend, they went to the mall and Adnan had told Jay his plan of killing Hae. Then they go back to the school and Adnan leaves his keys and phone with him and says to wait for his call after he had killed Hae. Later, that afternoon he receives a call from Adnan saying that he killed her and to come pick him up from Best Buy. He goes to Best Buy and saw her body in her own car in the trunk already dead with her blue lips.
As Adnan was growing up he wasn’t supposed to have girlfriends or even really talk to girls. He had a secret relationship with Hae Lee. The state used that against him in the case saying that it made him a good liar. They had a on and off type of relationship. They broke up and she was now dating a man named Don.
If our judicial system still believes that someone is innocent until proven guilty, then Adnan has to be innocent, because they did not prove him
One of Adnan’s best friends Saad stated in episode 2 of the podcast named “The Breakup” that Adnan had been talking to and dating multiple other girls and was “a player” just a month after him and Hae broke up, which shows that he was in no way obsessed with Hae and therefore had no reason to want to kill her. It has been argued by Hae’s friend Aiesha that the relationship was slightly obsessive on Adnan’s part, but since the couple had to keep their relationship a secret from their families as explained earlier, they wanted to be sure they spent as much time as possible together. Although some behaviors exhibited during the relationship seemed slightly overpowering, overall Hae and Adnan had a very typical relationship and there is no proof that the breakup was anything but a normal high school split, which gives absolutely no reason for anyone to believe Adnan would have killed Hae because
