This starts at the disappearance of Hae Min Lee, a senior who goes to Woodlawn High School on January 13, 1999. Lee was a victim using strangulation. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan was accused of first degree murder, serving 30 years + life in prison because there was a good deal of evidence that are against him. There are many opinions and theories here on whether Adnan killed her or not. Adnan is guilty for acting suspicious. For example, Adnan requested to have a ride with Lee, the day of her disappearance, his insufficient contact with her during the time she was absent and his strange actions on Cathy’s apartment that evening. First of all, Adnan is guilty because he asked Lee for a ride during school the day of her disappearance. Even though Adnan’s car is in tip top shape, letting Jay borrow his car for Stephanie’s birthday, he claimed his car had a malfunction. He could've demanded jay to pick him up, however he did not, so it's suspicious why he’d ask Lee after they've just broken up. Generally, a couple who just breaks up in a relationship with their partner …show more content…
Adnan did not even call or “paged” Lee at all. Adnan called Lee three times, the night before of her disappearance is suspicious since he did not call her the day after that. Normally, when a person is missing close to you, you wouldn't think twice to help search for them. For example, according Koenig, “I know Krista was trying to page her, I know Aisha was trying to page her, where are you, where are you, where are you?’’(Serial Episode 2: The Break Up). Adnan didn't contact Lee at least once, made Koenig solicitous about it. On the contrary, some people believe in what Adnan claimed, “I get information from Aisha and other kids from school”, but this is an excuse because he wouldn't want to get involved with the murder because he knows Lee was already dead and he might be persecuted if he did
Therefore, Adnan Syed did not murder Hae Min Lee. The first element about Adnan’s case that proves that Adnan is innocent is that Leakin Park is an hour away from where Adnan lives so why would he get out of his way to murder someone and then dispose of the body an hour away. In the investigation on the case, Sarah Koenig was talking to Rabia Chaudry, friend of Adnan, and this comment proves that Adnan wouldn’t be able to murder Hae: “is Adnan suppose to get to Leakin Park so fast? It’s like an hour into the city.
During Adnan's trial, Jay was the main source of information
If you’re going to murder your ex-girlfriend you should probably find a better way of covering it up. Adnan is a senior in a high school in Baltimore, Maryland where his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee was reported lost on January 13th, 1999 and found in Leakin Park on February 9th. Adnan Syed was found guilty of first degree murder, the main witness in the case was his thought to be best friend Jay, who we later learned felt like Adnan wasn’t a close friend. The reasons that Adnan murdered Hae Min Lee all add up, Adnan has a motive having Hae being of different culture he put a lot on the line to date her, Jay claims to have seen Adnan with Hae in the trunk of a car that Adnan had and, Adnan also had no alibi to where he was at the time of Hae’s
Manual strangulation was the cause of death. Adnan Syed was later arrested for first degree murder of Hae Min Lee. He also, was a Woodlawn High School student. He was popular, athletic, and an all-around mellow guy. He was also Hae’s ex-boyfriend at the time.
When Adnan was in Hae'a car, he found a priority chance to strangle Hae, and then he called jay drive to school picking up him and buried Hae's body. After that, they went to Cathy's home. In Adnan's testimony, he stated that he did not stay with jay at that time because he was going to buy a birth day gift to jay's girl-friend, Sephanie. The star witness, Jay proofed that Adnan showed Hae's body to him and they buried the body. The opposing view of Adnan was murder said that Jay's testimony had changed several times, his story was incredible.
In Sarah Koenig’s view, “Was he so hurt that he decided to kill her?” This is talked about a lot asking how hurt Adnan would have been to kill Hae. Young couples often go through breakups, but this one lead to the death of the girlfriend. Obviously Adnan felt hurt and so was his pride, but according to Adnan and their friends they loved each other. It does not make sense that he would hurt this girl that he loved.
A tennager called Hae Min Lee was murdered on January 13, 1999. The cause of her death was by strangulation. The police and Hae's friends has been searching for her until she was later found in February 9, 1999 at the leakin park by a guy named Mr. S. when Adnan was convicted of murdering Hae. Leakin Park was a park where people describe it as scary or not a good place with people going there just to drink or smoke. Mr. S. was suspicious to the cops which led to many points of questioning.
How would you react if you were accused of doing something you didn’t do? This is what happened to Adnan Syed who was accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed was a regular high school student that had good grades and was very good in school. His “friend” if you want to call him that, Jay Wilds, was kind of strange. He did drugs and tried to stab his friend and people also said he was just weird and sketchy sometimes…
But after Hae Lee was killed, 3 to 6 weeks later, the police take Jay in for questioning, "In the picture Jay drew, it's cold. I mean, he's not describing a crime of passion here. This is something much darker-- to methodically map out the death of your friend, to strangle her with your own hands so close up like that. That would mean Adnan wasn't just a killer, but a master liar and manipulator, a psychopath, probably." (Koenig episode 1 14) With no physical evidence, and a 'star witness' who keeps changing his story, they build a case against Adnan to put him in jail for the murder of Hae
Adnan disagrees with these beliefs. He talks about how he loves and respects her. “No one ever has been able to provide any shred of evidence that I had anything but friendship toward her, like love and respect for her. … The only thing I can ever say is, man, I had no reason to kill her. Sarah Koenig - He's adamant about this.
Another way was that Adnan was a duplicitous liar and played a “good Muslim” at home. Koenig then later finds out that a “potential alibi” was left out of Adnan’s case since it conflicted with Adnan’s own alibi despite him not remembering what happened on that day. In other words, it was too late since he had already been
On February 9th, 1999, Hae Min Lee’s body was found buried in a shallow grave in Leakin Park––death by strangulation. Later that year, an innocent man by the name of Adnan Syed was convicted on an extremely shaky case for the murder of this young girl. However incriminating the call records may appear at first glance, Adnan Syed, with an alibi to prove his innocence, had no motive to kill Hae Min Lee. To put it simply, Adnan Syed had no reason to murder Hae. After the couple split up, multiple witnesses confirmed that Adnan did not seem to be ridiculously or unusually upset; it was merely another high school breakup.
This was quite the battle for Adnan Syed, a young oriental male who was accused of murdering his long-time girlfriend in January of 1999. Hae-Min Lee, Adnan’s girlfriend, went missing in January and her body was found buried in a local park 3 weeks later. Adnan Syed is innocent of killing Hae-Min Lee because of three reasons: Cristina Gutierrez, Adnan’s lawyer, failed to put him in a position to win the trial, Jay is not an effective witness, and the window of time does not match up. Adnan is not at fault
Asia claimed she saw him the day of the murder in the library while she was with her boyfriend and boyfriend’s friend. She also claims that they had a conversation that day. Also, he could be innocent because Jay’s testimony had multiple inconsistencies. For instance, in Jay’s testimony he talked about how he and Adnan went up to Patapsco State Park to smoke and that's when Adnan and him talked about Hae, but when he testified in court, the whole story on it disappeared like it never happened. Because of these inconsistencies, Jay is not a reliable source at all and should not be the main determining factor in whether or not Adnan is
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
