She writes “If a 1972 Princeton bound high-school graduate had put the $34,181 that his four years of college would have cost him into a savings bank at 7.5 percent interest he would have more than five time as much as the $199,000 extra the more educated man could expect to earn” (432). The author made a good point. Although many people will not save that much money. However, many people that attend college will have student loans to pay off, which can take years to payoff, thus allowing the person that didn’t attend college to make more money. In the article “Making College Worth It” by Philip Oreopoulos and Uros Petronijevic they explain why college can be worth it for people and what to consider when choosing to attend college.

However, in the article, “Why College Isn’t for Everyone”, Matthews describes a diagram taken from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Based on the diagram, the lower quartile demonstrates that students with a four year degree seemingly do not make more money than a high school graduate. While this may sound as if people should not attend college, the root cause of this problem is that individuals are not putting enough thought into their future. In other words, individuals who do not have a future plan for their career or degree is negatively affecting society. They may be moving from one job to another and sacrificing a lower pay for a job, ultimately not knowing what they want to do with their earned degree.

Working long hours of backbreaking work at a factory or sitting in a college dorm drinking a couple cold ones. In "some lessons from the assembly line" by Andrew braaksma the author tells of his time spent in college and working as a blue-collar factory worker in the summer. The author makes comparisons to the hardships faced by blue-collar workers and the importance of a college education. The author also stresses his gratitude for the gift of being able to attend college and how others are less fortunate. The author's goal in writing this article is showing how important a college education is and how some may not be as fortunate as others in the ability to attend college.

In my intermediate family not everyone went to college and today they still struggle to find a job that pays them well and can finance them for the things they wish to have. Where my eldest aunt went to college and earned her master’s degree and worked a job she loved that payed well and gave her the opportunity to live happy and comfortably. College does not prepare you for a life of bills and credit but it does prepare you for the profession you are aiming

Opportunities that come with a college degree are extremely beneficial to students because it will help them to be able to live in that type of life style, as stated by the author. Leonhardt adds on that the wage gap between people who have earned a 4 year college

The fact that not everyone needs to go to college is the main point that Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill write about in great detail throughout their essay. Even though the authors do say that people that go to college usually earn more, they state that this is on “average,” and that the key focus of their essay is to focus on those that the benefits are not greater than the cost of going to college. (Page 211, Paragraph 1). They also include a graph right under the text that shows how “on average” people with a college degree earn more than those that are just high school graduates. (Page 211, Figure one).

Owen and Sawhill said that college education earnings money to your income. They recommend college education, but before you attend college you should be well prepared for college. On the other hand, the authors said that college may not the best option for some people and it can be wasting time if they don’t use it in a good

But one thing is that those are small amount of people. From an article ‘Why a College Degree Is Still Worth It’ by Wess Moss from the The Balance explains how there are data that indicates college degree is still worth it, “According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the pay gap between those with a four-year degree and those with a highschool degree is ar a record high. Those with a four-year college degree earn a median weekly salary of $1,137, whereas employees with a high degree average $678” (Moss 2). Even though if college graduated people have depts in their bank account, they would most likely pay off their loans pretty soon. Their could be a theory that the idea of not going to college and just working could be a way to earn more money after all would be misleading since people who are college graduated, their extra credit of work for higher education will be acknowledged from their workplace and would indicate as important and would pay the person more than someone who did not do anything to make them more educated.

In the essay “Should everyone go to college?” by Owen and Sawhill published in They Say I Say, Owen and Sawhill talks about how people with a degree benefits more than someone without a degree. After reading the essay, the author proved me to be right with the amount of success that comes with having a college degree versus a high school diploma. Individuals with a college degree beat an individual without a college degree in every category. Although, Owen and Sawhill speaks about the benefits of having a college degree, the authors do not think college is for everyone.

Graduates can make more starting off than someone who has a high school diploma who has been working there for longer. “Many colleges aren’t expensive when financial aid is taken account” it’s less expensive when financial. Another reason college is worth the cost is that we can further our education and make ourselves better. In “Even for Cashiers, College pays off” David Leonhardt said “Education seemed to make people Happier and Healthier”.

The importance of a college degree College, the word that you here most about when you go to interview for jobs. In the article Even Cashier Pays Off by David Leonhardt, he states that going to college is a good investment in life. I agree with David Leonhardt’s claim that having a college degree can benefit you through a career. Having a degree pay more than a high school diploma. Families expect their children to have a future with a good paying job and a degree that can last for a life time.

There is an ample amount of information that leads people to believe that college is a great choice. In Source F, it is shown that, “Adults who graduated from a four-year college believe that, on average, they are earning $20,000 more a year as a result of having gotten that degree. Adults who did not attend college believe that, on average they are earning $20,000 a year less as a result.” Also, provided in Source F, “...55% say it [college] was very useful in helping them prepare for a job or career.” While these statistics are true, the negatives still outweigh the positives.

College education is worth it. According to procon.org, “ college graduates have higher employment rates, bigger salaries, and more work benefits than high school graduates”(college education). College education is the right passage to a better life. Higher employment rates, means you would have a way higher chance of getting a great job. bigger salaries mean more money.

Although college is stressful and time consuming , having your dream career, is a huge life achievement. Having a job isn’t the same as having a career “I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life”(Maya Angelou). If you sell yourself short by not going to college you’ll end up working just to make ends means not because it's what you enjoy doing, it's due to your family counting on it. Those who go to college will end up having a better future than those who don’t. I agree that going to college is more beneficial because my view on the topic states that in order to have a secure and clear future you must go to college.

Getting into a college was always a must for me. I never truly thought about why I wanted to go, but I followed everyone else and tried to aim for the best university I could find. At the time, I assumed it was common sense that everyone should attend college. But as I grew up, I began to understand the numerous reasons to seek higher education. College is an opportunity for furtherment.
