John Adams had a tough role as the second United States president. He came right after George Washington who was loved by all. Washington had a tight grip on the country at the time, and was able to lead that country in war at any time. John Adams was still a founding father of the United States and did many great things in and out of office. John Adams was born on October 30, 1735 in Quincy, Massachusetts. He grew up with two brothers, Peter and Elihu Adams. At the age of 16, Adams went to Harvard and eventually graduated in 1755. He studied law at James Putman’s office and later earned his master’s degree and admitted to the bar. John Adams had a mother, Susanna Adams, and a father who worked on a farm, John Adams Sr. John Adams looked up to his dad who was a deacon in the Congregational Church, a farmer, a cordwainer, and a lieutenant in the military. For example, John help draft the constitution. The constitution is a big part in our daily lives. Without it, we wouldn’t have any of our free rights that we do now. Being able to help set a foundation of this free country and lead it is a great deal of responsibility and takes great honor. In 1774, John attended the first ever Continental Congress. There delegates from the thirteen colonies organize a resistance to reject Parliament's Coercive Acts. This resistance would be the beginning of the Revolutionary War. This war as we know would shape the history of the world forever. John Adams was also the first United States ambassador to Great Britain.
