John Adams Accomplishments

Achievements John Adams has had many achievements in his life. One of his many achievements is when he successfully defended British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre. John Adams had graduated from Harvard in 1755 . He had started practising law 1758. One of his most famous cases was related to the Boston Massacre.

After the shots being fired at Lexington and Concord John Adams was very sad because a friend of his was killed during this time. George Washington agreed with honor, to be head commander of the patriots. George Washington lead them them through cold snow nights and to an amazing victory against the British. John Adams convinced many people to vote for the declaration of Independence. This included Pennsylvania which was very hard to convince because the believed that they should not have to change their beliefs.

John Adams is famous for defending the British soldiers after the Boston Massacre, Both Samuel Adams and John Adams knew that the state of Massachusetts was both dreaded and distrusted by a lot of other colonies, especially New York and Pennsylvania. The Massachusetts legislature appointed Samuel Adams and four others to represent Massachusetts in the Second Continental Congress in 1775. At the Second Continental Congress, he pleaded for independence from Britain and a confederation of the colonies. Congress eventually approved and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. On October 19, 1735 at Braintree, Massachusetts, John Adams was born. After being named after his father John Adams was set out to following in this father’s footsteps. That’s why, at age six, he was sent to Dalme Belche’s House, where he was taught arithmetic, reading, and religion. At age eight he attended Braintree’s Latin School to prepare for Harvard. To continue his dream to Harvard his father hired Joseph Marsh.

On March 5, 1770 a street fight occurred between a mob of Boston citizens and British soldiers. The soldiers were increasingly unwelcome in Boston so the citizens threw snowballs, stones, and sticks at the group of soldiers who had been stationed here- the soldiers retaliated. The citizens were very outnumbered and the fight resulted in five deaths and six injuries from Boston. Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty named this event the Boston Massacre. The morning after, John Adams was sitting in his law office when Paul Revere revealed an engraving that showed Thomas Preston (captain of the British soldiers) ordering troops to fire at point blank range on the citizens.

Samuel Adams held such an important part in gaining independence for America, but he was the most underappreciated. Many people seem to overlook Adams because he didn't leave many primary sources behind like a journal, notes, or letters etc.. Adams studied journalism at Harvard, and went on to pursue this by defending colonists against royal authorities who overstepped their boundaries. Then from 1764, when the Stamp act arose, he had one main focus- to fight for American Independence. In the 1760’s and 1770’s Adams fought against the British for the American colonists.

John Adams was a very well known for being a courageous, considerate and very fair person in his time and was appreciated and liked by many. He was looked at this way because of what he did in 1770, during the Boston Massacre trials, when he represented the British soldiers that were on trial for killing five Bostonian civilians. He took this case without even giving it a second thought and believed that no matter how guilty some one had seemed they always deserved to defend themselves and share their half of the story. John Adams was born on October 30, 1735 in Braintree, Massachusetts, a small town nowadays called Quincy. Although he was raised in modest surroundings, Adams felt an acute responsibility to live up his family’s heritage from an early age. At the age of sixteen, he was admitted to Harvard College where his passion for prestige – he said that he craved “Honor of Reputation” – helped him earn a law degree. Later, he specialized in constitutional law, which contributed to the development of his dedication to the principles of republicanism and a political career. He became involved in politics when his cousin, Sam, introduced him into radical politics and the subsequent revolutionary agitation against Great Britain.

Hancock was a popular figure in Boston, and the taking over of his ship led to angry protests by local people. In the following months and years, Hancock became deeply involved in the movement for American independence. Massachusetts was in the middle of his movement, and Boston, in particular, was called the “Cradle of Liberty.” In 1774, John Hancock was elected president of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress which was known as an autonomous government, which was good. December of the same year, he was chosen as a Massachusetts delegate, which was the main part of the United States during the Revolutionary War.

Samuel Adams was not a very popular leader during the American Revolution and is known by many only by the beer produced in his name, but due in part to his efforts during this time period he should be remembered for so much more. Samuel Adams helped to lead many colonies, including that of Massachusetts, into an area that they had never been before, Revolution against their King and country. Even though historians have now labeled him as the “Father of America, many of the tactics he utilized would be very heavily analyzed in todays society, whether they were justified or not by the tyrannical government being imposed by England. From the reading of John Adam’s diary it is profound to infer that God no longer engenders men at such a high caliber in such ways that he once did when creating the founding fathers. Adams’s diary truly portrays his thoughts and words express his of virtue, morality, religion, education and his dreams. He wanted to read more and set out to read more of the ancient Greeks writings and works from Latin authors. Its admirable in the way in which Adams’s kept a diary and wanted to push himself to what he knew he was capable of.

John Adams is known in history for his self centeredness and stubborn headedness. As the second president of The United States, John Adams was not very popular among the American citizens for the bills he passed and the way he treated wars. However, John Adams will still be known as one of the great founding fathers of this nation. John Adams grew up in what is now Quincy, Massachusetts. His father, John Adams Sr., was a farmer and minister.

President John Adams served as the second President of the United States. He was elected in 1897 after serving the nation and George Washington as his vice president for eight years 1789-1797. John Adams was widely respected by the other Founding Fathers for his wisdom, and great personal sacrifices he made during the Revolutionary War. John Adams took office when America was only 21years old. During this term the founding fathers began to come up with different ideas on the future of the new country and how it should be governed.

Adams served as the first Vice President of the United States during 1789 through 1797. Then through 1797 through 1801 he served as the Second President of the United States.
