While you may associate the name, Sam Adams, with beer, this is just one of the many contributions that Samuel Adams made to America. More importantly, Samuel Adams was a significant figure in American history because of his crucial role during the American Revolution. He is famous for opposing British taxation, organizing the Boston Tea party and signing the US Declaration of Independence. Samuel Adams was one of the founding fathers of America.
Samuel Adams was born on September 27, 1722, in Boston, MA. He was the one of three surviving siblings out of a total of 12 siblings. His parents were puritans and he grew up in a religious family. His father, Samuel “Deacon” Adams was a wealthy maltster and merchant and had strong political opinions.

Samuel Adams had many talents, accomplishments, contributions, and his legacy. Samuel Adams got his masters degree from Harvard at the age of 21. He wanted to be a lawyer, so he studied for a test to become a lawyer. Samuel Adams was against British taxation, so he helped to organize the Boston Tea party. Three colonist dressed up as American Indians dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea party was very good for Adams because Britain had most of their taxes on the tea.
Another accomplishment that Samuel Adams had, was that he was chosen to the first Continental Congress. The Continental Congress was the governing body of the United States. He was one of the delegates from the thirteen colonies. Samuel Adams was also very well known because he signed the Declaration of Independence. John Adams was arguably one of the most influential leaders in America between 1607 and 1840. He was born on October 30, 1735 in Braintree, MA and died in July 4, 1826 in Quincy, MA. During his life he was a lawyer, politician and diplomat for the United States, then he eventually became the second president of the United States. There were many influences that John Adams was able to contribute over the years therefore, he is known as the “founding father.” Some of the things that John Adams contributed to the United States was the help to led the colonies through the war by gaining the support of the French, defending the soldiers in the Boston Massacre, argued against major tax acts before the start of the War, and negotiated the ‘Treaty of Paris,’ which ended the Revolutionary War.
After the shots being fired at Lexington and Concord John Adams was very sad because a friend of his was killed during this time. John Hancock signing this paper meant the Colonists were one step closer to freedom. The United States would not be the United States if John Hancock had not signed and helped gain the United States’ freedom. He was a great importance to our history. Although this was a fail in history, John Hancock led 5,000 Massachusetts soldiers, and also the French navy, from Boston to recapture Newport, Rhode Island from the British. That obviously did not work, but Hancock still remained famous.

John Quincy Adams is known as a pretty decent president. In a C-SPAN poll he was ranked number nineteen. He was very passionate about freedom of speech and universal education. His first year in office he had ideas that would help promote science and he saw the need for practical solutions to universal problems. He wanted to help the United States with his new ideas.
He had to work with Congress to start building the foundation of the country. America was deep in debt, there was no top judiciary system, and on and on. He gathered a cabinet to support him and successfully solidified the future of America. John Adams, his vice president, stepped up after Washington. He was a Federalist, opposite of his vice president.
Sam Adams was “head of the caucus club and a leading voice in Boston town meetings”(Irvin 51). He held a voice louder than most people in the American colonies during his time. Adams believed in the rights of people and he believed in saving his home town, Boston, as well as his neighbors who lived there. Thomas Jefferson, another man of a great voice, referred to Adams as "truly the Man of the Revolution” (Terzian). For his great contribution to gaining American independence and standing up for people’s rights, Adams eventually received another nickname, “Sam the Publican”(Irvin 54).
John Adams became known because of his opposition to the stamp act in 1765. His opinion stated "American colonists of the basic right to be taxed by consent and to be tried by jury of peers". Couple months later presented a public speech in Massachusetts stating the invalid act. In 1770, Adams agreed to represent the soldiers in Boston massacre.
