What has the power to take a life has the power to preserve it, what has the power to love has the power to hate, what has the power to make the world a better place has the power to ruin it. The monumental power of choice resides in all of us and dictates the course of history. But the choice to live is one right that is being stolen every time a mother says no to the growing baby inside of her. Planned Parenthood is an industry that is worth 1 billion dollars that builds its foundation on the death of one million babies a year. In comparison the Holocaust, which was a reign of terror over the “inferior” populations of Europe, had over 11 million people who were helplessly murdered in the span of 12 years. Before his presidency Ronald Reagan was the governor of California. In his term he signed the Therapeutic Abortion Act, what this did is it allowed abortions to be performed only if the mental and physical health of the mother is at risk. This resulted in numerous legal abortions. Once Reagan realized the effects of this bill he said if he had been a more experienced governor he would not have signed it. After this mishap he declared himself to be a supporter of life. Later, when he was elected, he enacted the Mexico City Policy, this policy required that all non-governmental agencies that receive federal funding to discontinue the promotion or practice of abortion. On top of that he actively supported the cause for life, in one of his famous quotes addressing abortion he says “I’ve noticed that everyone for abortion has already been born.” Ronald Reagan is saying, what gives us the right to deny others a chance for life when we were given a chance for life? Reagan also brings up another strong argument for life, he says ” With me, abortion is not a problem of religion, it is a problem of the Constitution . Although Regan wasn’t able to stop abortion entirely, he set an example to us, showing we, the people can stand up to abortion. But why does this matter, if abortion is allowed to remain, we are diminishing the value of life and what it is worth. On 1973 , the final verdict of the Roe v. Wade case was ruled in favor of abortion, since then over 58 million babies without a voice were murdered. All of us as a united people, must decide whether we can let abortion continue. Our choices play a bigger role in society than we might think, so we should all use our choices for the betterment of us
