In the state of Arizona we are receiving a $75 million state budget cut to all public universities. This paragraph will critique the group’s ethos used throughout the essay. First, it was great to start the introduction paragraph with information for the reader to know what to expect the essay to be about. Secondly, referring to the seventh paragraph, it is the best paragraph using ethos. It uses many credible sources from the citations. It displays the knowledge the group have about the material with many examples and it was executed well with strong use of word choice.

Should Uniforms be Required? There has always been a debate about whether students should have to wear uniforms to school. However, evidence shows that kids shouldn’t have to wear uniforms because they are self-restricting, it can give their school a bad reputation, and they don’t stop bullying like people think it does. Everyone has made an argument. It could be as little as argueing so you can to your friend’s house to as big as why you should be president. Whenever you make an argument you’re trying to persuade the person to listen to you. The points you make are ethos (appeals to credibility), logos (logic), or pathos (emotion). You do it without knowing.

People say uniforms make school safer for students. Others say it has no positive effect on behavior. School uniforms should be enforced in public schools throughout the world. Requiring every student to dress the same can help to make everyone equal and therefore cut down on feeling superior to one another. On the other hand, you have to consider that bullying happens everywhere and most likely will still continue to exist in a school with uniforms, although it may help to decrease it a significant amount. Bullying is a serious issue, but the school board has to figure out if uniforms will help or hurt their cause. As far as hurting, I am not sure what damage it could do to the bullying cause but I am sure there is some. Now that I consider it, it would make those less fortunate easier to discover.

Public schools do not require students to wear uniforms, but public schools do have a dress code which every student must adhere to. People believe there should be uniform because it reduces bullying by instilling discipline among students. Students cannot express themselves and wear their favorite clothes. According to Nancy E. Bailey, PhD, an education author and activist, she states that ,“ Students should learn to make informed decisions about the clothes they wear.”(ProCon.org) Overall, people should consider public schools because of it does not require uniforms.

There are many reasons why we shouldn 't have school uniforms but I thought this is the most important reason, uniforms give the administrator too much control over the students yes it 's good to have control over the students but with uniforms it is a little too much control. Uniforms allow the school decide to choose what you wear and later in life they won’t know how to think for themselves they will have to rely on someone else or they will always be over dressed, I know what you 're thinking what 's wrong with being overdressed well it may be better than underdressed but there are times to be overdressed like weddings or funerals but not like at the beach or birthday parties if you do it makes you look like snooty rich kid thats why its not good to always be

School is a place where kids should be able to express themselves, not be put in regulated clothing. School is probably one of the only place kids can express themselves. Kids should not have to wear uniforms because uniforms take away our freedom of expression.

Students need to be taught at an early age that we should respect one another no matter what we wear ; similarly students need to be taught that what a person wears does not define who they are. When students learn to respect others no matter what they wear it makes them be more open minded, and makes them more respectful and kinder. One example is that when people wear what they prefer and feel more comfortable in people will respect them more because they were taught from a young age to respect each gender no matter what they put on their bodies. Imagine how delighted parents would feel if they reduced their back-to-school spending by hundreds upon hundreds of dollars as a result of not investing in designer clothes for their children to wear to school. Envision a student roaming down the congested hallway at school not having to fret about someone teasing them because of their outfit. Picture a school that is safe, content, and unified. With school uniforms, all of this is viable. First of all, uniforms save parents heaps of money.

There are three major positions on this issue. The first position is that student dress codes are necessary to produce a safe and productive environment for students, which will facilitate high achievement. The second position goes even farther, and says that dress codes should mandate uniforms for all students, claiming that the uniforms will make students focus more while removing concerns about fashion differences that would otherwise harm their self-esteem. Last, there is the position that school uniforms are unnecessary, and that they pose an unfair cost burden to families and restrict students' constitutional rights to free expression. Each side has some evidence in its favor, but ultimately the lack of hard statistics on costs and grading effects from dress codes make it apparent that more research is necessary to figure out what position has the best support for
