Wearing uniforms is a debated topic talked about all over America, even across the entire world. I strongly agree that uniforms should be worn because it decreases the chances of bullying and creates a badge of pride and gives an identity for the school. Kids wearing their own clothes could cause more children to be bullied by others. Some kids might not even have clean wearable clothes, they could be torn or have holes in the fabric. The bullying could cause depression and in some extreme cases have lives be lost. When you send your child to school you want them to be in a safe learning environment and never want be in harm 's way, right? "Wearing a uniform is a badge of pride and creates an identity for the school," Chloe Spencer wrote. I completely agree with Chloe because many times schools can be taken out for competition from extracurricular activities or it could just be a simple field trip. No matter the occasion the students and staff will more likely be wearing school attire. While out in public people will be able to recognize which school they have come from. The students represent the school while outside of the premises and the uniform helps with that. …show more content…
Uniforms end the needs to be like everyone else, kids will not be judged based on clothing and there is always the weekends to express themselves. The uniforms will also save parents a great deal of money on clothing. Seventy-seven percent people who responded to a survey estimated the average cost for a uniform is about one-hundred fifty dollars for the entire year if the clothing is well taken cared of. According to a 2013 study from the National Retail Foundation, just back-to-school clothes cost about two-hundred-thirty-five dollars and shoes add about one-hundred thirty dollars to the plate. You can definitely see the difference in
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
Some parents and people think when we give them uniforms it takes away their freedom of expression and restricts them from showing who they are. This is wrong. They can still express themselves in many ways, such as: wearing unique tennis shoes, styling their hair however they want, mix and matching the uniform pieces, wearing fun jewellery, etc. They can also wear the fun clothing outside of school, whenever they want. Uniforms make it so everyone looks together and one, so no one gets better or worse treatment for what they wear.
I agree with these students and I wouldn’t want to be forced to wear a uniform either. To begin, parents don’t want to pay the extra money for a school uniform. It’s extremely expensive and the student 's parents have to buy even more appliances on top of that. Let’s weigh the pros and cons of school uniforms states, “The cost of uniforms is prohibitive, especially when a family includes more than one school-aged child.”
Students/kids all over the world do to school that requires to wear school uniform. Other When kids go to school in uniform they form a lack of expression on how they look because they are required school uniform. Some major reasons students should not wear uniform is because lack of expression, cost and comfort concerns. One of the biggest reasons is big bullies. These reasons are why kids should not wear uniform.
One reason why people would be against school uniforms is that it would cause their parents to spend more money on their kids for school. The other reason why people may say that having school uniforms would not be an excellent idea is that kids would be worried about being bullied because of how they look in said uniforms. Actually having school uniforms would decrease the amount of bullying in schools. If you think about it a large amount of kids these days get bullied for not having name brand clothes or shoes. With that being said, having school uniforms would help out substantially with that because we would all be wearing the same thing and nobody would be bullying anyone for that reason.
Many people doesn 't go against it or protest about it. Usually trying to make uniforms go away forever wouldn 't be easy for anyone to do since uniforms has been around for many years. Everyone should have their choice when it comes down to uniforms and also everyone should be able to speak about how they feel about school uniforms , even if it 's positive or negative. It would be better if everyone that has something to say about
For one thing, if everyone has a uniform or limit on clothes it can help not cause bullying among children at school (Grant, Taylor). If everyone has uniforms that can result in happier and more effective children. Not to mention, dress codes or uniforms can make a group of people feel like a team, no one is left out or judged for their clothes (Heathfield). If kids don’t feel sad about being judged on what they wear they might get higher grades and participate more often. In some instances, uniforms help with inclusion and when all students wear the same clothes there has been a decrease in bullying (McMahon).
And it does not raise test scores which leads me to my next reason why we should not wear uniforms. My second reason is that is does not stop bullying kids get bullied over what they are clothes people think that it will help but it wont. Everyone will be wearing the same clothes but if we wear uniforms kids from other schools would bully them from there. It does not help test scores and does not help grades.
Imagine you are sitting in a classroom filled with polite and poised children dressed all the same in their school uniforms. You feel peaceful and chaos free. School uniforms are required in a lot of public schools throughout all of america, but some aren't. This issue is affecting plenty of citizens throughout the united states. School uniforms should be required in all public schools across the united states because, school uniforms reduce the amount of distraction in the classroom, school uniforms create a positive, no violence culture and climate on campus, and lastly school uniforms end the competition between the rich and poor, weather it being about who has the nicest or most new up to date clothes.
School uniforms give students a sense of unity because they feel like they can fit in without fear of being too different. Making a dress uniform mandatory will decrease sexual harassment, create more interesting humans and make schools safer. A school uniform would make schools safer. The idea of wearing uniforms to schools was originally introduced to reduce violence in schools in 1996 by the Department of Education (Underwood, 1).
This is true due to all statistics stated by many studies, if we want to live in a world where kids want to be able to be themselves everywhere then we must think more deeply about not just our thoughts on uniforms. We must ask ourselves, we must ask ourselves, “should we really be spending money on useless uniforms Kids hate to
In conclusion, school uniforms are a great thing to have in schools. Even though there is that argument on whether school uniforms will violate the right of self-expression to students it will continue either way. At the end of the day students should see that there are more positive effects with uniforms rather than negative ones. It should be taking in consideration that the clothes a student wears will not determine the ability of learning, but why not pick school uniforms that can help stop current school
Should we have school uniforms? it’s hard to think that something as little as wearing school uniforms could help in how a student learns but if you think about it, it affects a lot of things. People think applying school uniforms restricts a students freedom of expression. However it is rather weak argument. Uniforms do not take away a students right.
In the article of Dr. Alan Hilfer from 2009, “Disadvantages of a School Uniform Policy” stated that “We need free thinking children of to become thinkers of tomorrow, not droned who will continue making the mistakes of previous generations”(Hilfer, 2009). Feelings on school uniforms seem to differ as much as the reasons for having them, hate it, or love it. Recent studies done in the University of Alabama states that: “Student Uniform use was not significantly correlated with any of the school commitment variables. In addition, students wearing uniforms did not appear to have any significantly different academic performance” (Brunsma & Rockquemore, 1998). The problem whether schools should still be continuously implemented is a highly debatable topic.
The biggest argument that is for cons would be that school uniforms restrict a student's ability to express themselves through means of clothing and even piercing. Self-expression is critical for people, especially for those in their youth because if they are restricted to self-expression, it could damage one's creativity and even their own identity. This is why self-expression is very critical to our youth because of how it could affect our future generation. Backtracking to cons , another important con for school uniforms would be the overall price of the uniforms themselves, many parents are concerned with the overall pricing of the uniforms and families who are going through some rough patches may not be able to afford it at the time, which is a big problem for students trying to go to school
