Leaders like Red Cloud, Chief Seattle, Quanah Parker and Chief Joseph all had to settle with adapting to the American culture. For an example Red Cloud and his people the Sioux began series of fights because miners were crossing into their territory digging up their land looking for gold, they showed no respect to their environment, they even dug up to look for gold. Back in the day the U.S. was overrun by people called the Indians or Native Americans. One of the well-known Indians of the time was the Shawnee. The Shawnee were the traveling people of our little state of Ohio. They are also well-known from the Greenville treaty of the time. The Shawnee of the 17th century and mostly 18th century are the Indians people know.

Although all the colonists all came from England, the community development, purpose, and societal make-up caused a distinct difference between two distinct societies in New England and the Chesapeake region. The distinctions were obvious, whether it be the volume of religious drive, the need or lack of community, families versus single settlers, the decision on minimal wage, whether or not articles of agreements were drawn for and titles as well as other social matters were drawn, as well as where loyalties lay in leaders. New England was, overall, more religious than the Chesapeake region. Settlers in New England were searching relief for religious persecution in Europe. Puritans, Quakers, and Catholics were coming in droves to America searching for an opportunity to have religious freedom.

From 1800 to 1850, America experienced a lot of geography, population, and capita growth. For one, the geographic size not only doubled, but triple because of the introduction of 4 million slaves and 2 million immigrants. Additionally, in the thirty-one of the states, fifteen of which were acquired in the last 50 years, the capita per home had doubled. The eastern United States was growing in number, and to accommodate new life, people began to move west. Accompanied by the technological innovations of the day people were now able to experience much more when they were outside of their small towns.

There were many instances where Jake was conflicted with himself on whether he should follow through with his mission or to protect the Na'vi. Internal noise is an aspect of communication that acts as a barrier; it can be physiological, psychological, or semantic. Internal noises act as a distraction, usually thoughts, that interrupt the communication process. The American Revolution lasted six years and the impacts of it were everlasting(Schultz, 2010). The effects were felt by every group of people in North America and many worldwide. Even though George Washington had all of his troops vaccinated against smallpox, the colonists were not so fortunate and as a results some estimates are that as many as one hundred and thirty thousand people died from this dreaded disease. This loss of life combined with the divisions among the colonies into those loyal to Britain and those who wanted freedom would forever change the way of life for the colonists.

The British colonies in the Chesapeake region and those of the New England region were both similar yet different in certain ways. One because both the colonist that settled there were looking for new opportunities. However, it was mostly second son aristocrats, which means the first born usually inherits the better half of the father’s riches. Their lives in England had either been mistreated or they were unable to flourish economically. Regardless of whether they were searching the land for expansive homesteads, religious freedom, or exchanging and merchant opportunities, the colonist in both regions were searching for another land in the New World.

One of the biggest problems was undoubtedly the fact that almost everybody did not have respect for property rights. Native American’s never showed hostility until the newcomers threatened their home and life. The United States government promised the Indians that they could live peacefully on their new land. However that did not work out, as land treaties were broken because of precious ore that ruined many a life being discovered on their property.

European exploration of the West began in 1500 and continued to flourish for over three centuries. While colonizing this new land, Europeans first came into contact with the native peoples. European religious views, gender roles, and land ownership shaped their interactions with Native Americans. The English, for example, practiced Christianity, while the Native Americans possessed a more spiritual and animalistic religion. Native American societies were heavily reliant on women for not only household duties, but also agricultural responsibilities.

Before the Spanish ship that changed it all, which arrived in the “New World” in 1492, thriving organized communities of native people had centuries of history on the land. That ship, skippered by Christopher Columbus, altered the course of both Native American and European history. 1492 sparked the fire of cultural diffusion in the New World which profoundly impacted the Native American peoples and the European settlers. Prior to European contact, Native Americans lived as hunter-gatherers, living and traveling in groups of typically less than 300 people. These Native Americans spoke over 400 languages and practiced a myriad of different religions (The American Pageant).
