Observation of Setting: I observed a family friend’s son in the living room of her house. His name is Emmanuel and he is three years old. The child had been home for about two or three hours after coming home from a whole day at daycare separated from mom. The living room had a recorded Disney movie playing on the TV in the background. There was also a huge red and green carpet on the floor with a couple of toys spread out. At the time there was only one rocking chair, since they were in the process of buying new furniture. Observation of Child: I observed Emmanuel in what seemed to be one of his good days, because his mom said you should observe on his days that he is throwing a fit. At the time I came over and sat in the rocking chair, he was almost unaware that I came into the …show more content…
I always enjoy watching them grow and discover new ways of life. After observing Emmanuel for about 15 to 20 minutes, I begin to play airplane with him, and swing him through the air. His mom even made the statement, “I can’t believe he opened up to you so quickly; normally he is very shy.” Before I began the observation, I was a little unsure of what it was exactly I was suppose to be looking for. As the observation went on, I realized that certain things just started popping out to me that seemed so intriguing. For example, I found it so intriguing that there was no discrimination. He did not care what I looked like, how old I was, how tall I was, or the fact that I was a complete stranger. He saw one common interest towards the end of my visit. He saw that I was someone willing to have fun and play with him. That is all he cared about. I think that is a powerful gift that is innate in children that adults can learn from. As we get older in life, that trait unfortunately dies away. We become more judgmental, discriminative, secluded, and close minded. This is something I think adults should really re-learn from
1. 10 points: Based on your results from Tables 1 & 2, briefly describe the activity patterns you observed? Were there any contributing factors? Were boys more active than girls? (You do not need to go over the entire sample, just provide highlights and go into detail on one or two areas that were most interesting).
During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.
It was a ferociously gloomy day in the heart of Center City. The time of the observation was from 11:43 am to 12:43pm. Sandwiched between 15th street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard is the Philadelphia 's Municipal Services Building and within the plaza of the building lies Board Game Park. Even in the rain, the park was festive. Upon arriving, it began to drizzle.
According to developmental psychology a person at any age is at a certain stage of cognitive, moral, psychosocial, and physical development. This development is measured by different types of thinking, mental capacity for tasks, physical strength, and reasoning for following rules. Development is easily seen in children. Naturalistic observation is the one of the easiest method to see these developments in children. This is the observation technique I used, while watching a five year old male at Kindercare Daycare at 3:30 on a Friday.
On 10/16/2015 an unannounced inspection was conducted, I was greeted by Theresa the receptionist who contacted Linda Young, Person in charge. Ms. Young arrived about 2 minutes later, I handed Ms. Young my business card and stated my purpose of the visit and explained what documentation I would need to complete the investigation. A complete walk through of classrooms and playgrounds including the Wellness Trail where incident occured was conducted. In the infant building there are 4 classrooms, which 3 are being occupied at this time. In classroom 1 of infant building Sue Ann Cozart was caring for 4 infants 7month-15 months.
For the parent-child interaction observation, I decided to use my community park as the public setting. My observation consisted of watching the interaction of a mother and her two sons, who seemed to be twins around the age of six or seven years old. I observed the interaction from afar without them being aware that I was observing, which allowed me to note a true naturalistic observation without manipulation of the situation. The setting of the interaction was a community park, where a mother and her two sons of Indian ethnicity, were approaching a basketball court area. The mother began to strap a helmet on one son because he was about to ride his bike, while the other son was walking alongside them holding a basketball.
The school that I attendent to was the child development center. I was looking around the environment where child development is place at really quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood has a lot of tree and not really intersection road. I came in 10/19/17 it was in the morning around 10 am but they had a earthquake drill.
Joseph is a seven month -old infant, he is always smiling every time that I saw him. Joseph currently lives with his father, mother and older sister. Joseph was born premature by four weeks with the best care in the world joseph is slightly death in his left ear. Joseph now weights the size of an average seven-month-old infant. But prior to birth the doctors determine that he would be below the average weight at birth.
Observation of Child For this observation I went to the Mall. I sat next to the playground, which was full of children from different ages, and their moms watching them. The child I decided to observe seemed to be around three years old. • What did the child do during your observation?
When a child is experiencing a transition, observation can help practitioner identify any specific situations that the child finds difficult and can work on ways to support the child. If a child is new to the setting or is going through a change in home circumstances, then practitioner will observe them to make sure they are coping with the transition. Observations will need to be carried out over a period of time because the child may be fine one day and then struggle the next
I end this paper with a concise conclusion. Observation 1 • Summary Daniel is in the dining area of the childcare Centre where breakfast is being served by the teachers. There are three teachers with children ranging from 20 months to 6 years. There are 20 children at the dining area. • Evaluation
As observed with Taylor, he could easily tell that someone new had come in his house and he did not respond to me the way he responded to his mother. Cognitive development during childhood plays a vital role in their future abilities and
An unannounced follow up inspection was conducted on 11/17/2015. I arrived at the operation which is located at 1408 N. Edwards Ave, Mt Pleasant about 3:33 pm. I was greeted by Ashley Earl the director I then explained the purpose of my inspection. I prepared for the inspection by reviewing the frequency of inspections made, observing the operations, compliance history, the operations fee history, background check list and controlling person list, etc.
The classroom that I will be observing is a Preschool classroom at KinderCare Learning Center in Bartlett, Illinois. The teacher I will be observing over the next period of time is Laura Sturgulewski. She has worked at KinderCare for 8 years, mostly in the 2 year-old room until fall of 2013, when she took the lead teaching position of the Preschool classroom. Her classroom mainly has 3 year-olds, but on occasion has a mix of 4 year-olds and transitioning 2 year-olds. The number of students in her class depends on the day, because they are a child care center some students have a part time schedule, unlike an elementary school where children attend every day.
Classroom Observations Mrs. Canada is the first grade teacher that I observed, and the subject that she was teaching was reading. She had planned well-organized power points and crafting materials in advance, so she was prepared for the lesson. The two times I observed, the lesson that was being taught at both times was reading. Children in the classroom used a lot of previous knowledge for the lesson.
