George Washington was a great leader. He was very humbled and had a very big heart. He truly cared for every single one of his soldiers. The way he carried himself gave confidence to his troops. In 1775, he was named commander in chief of the Continental Army in the American uprising. In his first battle, he was able to box the British out of Boston, but later that year he was almost captured when he lost New York City. During every battle he rode in the front never in the back because he wanted to show his troops that they were all in this together.
Geography played an important part in the American Revolution. Americans also known as Patriots knew the land very well. They had all their supplies close to them rather than the British who had
King George the third was the ruler of Great Britain during the time of the American Revolution and had a large impact on the colonies leading up into the American revolution. By the 1700’s, he had established thirteen colonies along the east coast. From this time period on the British faced war against the Americans during the French and Indian war. Although it brought victory, it put the British in a lot of debts. To make up the money, King George put various currency acts on the colonies in order to make revenue.
Washington wanted to protect his reputation, he worried about it often. He had high expectations to live up to and he didn’t want to disappoint his people. Although, many people at the time were quite disappointed after they talked with him because he didn’t have a lot to say and he wasn’t considered an “intellectual” (33). But what he lacked he made up for in the way he executed his decisions. Washington was a superb military leader being the commander in chief.
There were many battles fought in the duration of the year 1776. In the book “1776” by D. McCullough there were three major battles and the events leading up to them, these include: The Battle of Dorchester Heights, The Battle of Long Island, and The Battle of Trenton. Both armies have the same idea that Dorchester Heights was necessary for security, and was a major part in the war, but neither side has tried to take control of it The British are heavily supplied with artillery, but they have done nothing to secure its position. George Washington had wanted to take Boston back from the British for a long time, and to take his plan into action he sends Colonel Henry Knox all the way to Fort Ticonderoga to set his plan in motion.
George Washington had tremendous leadership abilities. I think George Washington had tremendous abilities because, he was confident that his army of soldiers could defeat the Hessians in the Revolutionary war. Even though they were young kids and the Hessians were believed to be genuinely good when it comes to battle. Many people including General Gates were doubting his army. Another reason why I think George Washington had tremendous abilities in leadership is because, he is a proud man.
He was very popular among the French. At first the French only provided hidden support through American traders. After the colonies declared their independence in 1776, they provided a secret loan, but refused to sign a treaty because George Washington had lost so badly in New York. Yet, it was very important to have alliances such as the Indians, Spanish, or the French because the American Colonies had declared their independence and entered into a war with England and the more countries approved their cause and supported them the better chance they had of overpowering their enemy. Through these alliances, the Patriots hoped to receive money, soldiers, training for their army, generals, horses, food, clothing, artillery, and much
When it came to politics the biggest thing Washington wanted was a national government, he didn't want a single person to have all the power because with power comes greed. He had visions of what America could be and that is something that makes a great leader because he knew what he wanted and would strive to attain those goals and it would also inspire people to follow him, during the Battle of Trenton many of his mens enlistments were up but washington convinced his men to stay with him, they were hesitant at first but they had trust and
While also keeping in mind he set a key example for the presidents of the United States to come in the future. Making sure that every move he made, speech he spoke would be perfect, and be a key example for the future. While also remembering that sometimes you had step out of your comfort zone to make sure that everyone was happy even though sometimes you think it is not right you have to keep the point of view of others in mind to have a healthy and happy government. Also keeping in mind that your military reflects your country and who you are as a president, knowing that he had to keep a powerful image he created one of the strongest military foundations in history making the United States military strong, dominant, intimidating, and smart. This showed how our country was lead by a true patriot, hero, and genius, George Washington, one of the greatest presidents of all of time in the United States
Why was George Washington significance? A great man called George Washington once said “We should not look back unless it is to derive useful lessons from past errors, and for the purpose of profiting by dearly bought experience.” George Washington was significance because he was a great leader. Also he helps win the revolution and he helps make peace with Britain.

Although unrelatable and underappreciated in the eyes of modern history, George Washington shows his greatness through his character. Contemporary culture often neglects to recognise Washington’s greatness. Sadly, he has become a figure so far removed from the ideals and lives of modern Americans, that his name often provokes boredom. Nonetheless, his character proved to be perfect for what America needed during his life. His greatness was largely due to chance.
George Washington, the first president of the United States and commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, remains as one of the most famous and influential figures in the American history. Despite him having little experience in commanding large military forces, Washington’s strong leadership and determination helped him to unite the American Army during the American Revolution to attain victory at the Yorktown and U.S. independence (Leckie, 2010). One of the strengths that led Washington to match successfully against the mighty British Army is that he had gained wealthy knowledge on British command principles through studying of various British army manuals, and his close interaction with the British officers whom
In my eighth grade opinion George Washington was one of America 's greatest leaders of all time. He was first introduced to the public eye when we fought in the Revolutionary war. He fought off them off in a huge bloody battle that matched the British’s coats. He was a stern man and he wouldn’t abandon his men for anything. He used his very intelligent brains to strategically plan his crossing of the Delaware.
On December 15, 1791, our founding fathers successfully passed the Bill of Rights. The first and most important amendment shines brightly upon the freedom of speech. Even today, more than two hundred years later, we cannot stress the freedom of speech enough. People discuss the first amendment today as excessively as they did back then. George Washington poured his heart and soul into America, as we would tell later on from his powerful words and his courage.
Going into the first war his plan was too capture two major british armies in Saratoga in 1777. He became a senior british officer in the colinal milita during the first stages of the Freanch and Indian war. Goerge Washington forced the british out of Boston in 1776, but was defeated and nearly captured that year when he lost New York
